I Am the Only Fertile Woman in the Game-Chapter 191: Deep Sleep
Qiao Suisui was quickly carried by Ruka onto a private flying ship, followed closely by Leberli and Sang Yan.
The medical team first conducted a comprehensive examination on her, and then Leberli had someone bring her over a dozen of her favorite meals and snacks. He even insisted on not letting her lift a finger, hand-feeding her every bite.
Sang Yan had picked some blooming flowers from somewhere and placed them by her bedside. The petals still had dewdrops on them, vibrant with life, filling the room with freshness.
Ruka stayed with her in the medical cabin, and breathing in his familiar scent made Qiao Suisui feel much more at ease. Previously, when she was detained at the base, she didn’t dare to sleep, but now she could finally have a good sleep.
Her head rested on Ruka’s arm, her body slightly curled up, fully embraced by the man.
Qiao Suisui felt her consciousness slowly sinking. As she closed her eyes, she clutched Ruka’s collar and whispered, "Wake me up when we get there."
The man lovingly kissed her forehead. "Yes, sleep now."
When Zong Fang returned, he first cleaned himself up before going to see Qiao Suisui. He approached quietly and saw her sleeping peacefully, her delicate face serene. Zong Fang couldn’t help but smile slightly with relief.
Ruka turned his head to look at Zong Fang, and after their eyes met, Zong Fang stepped outside while Ruka gently and slowly slid his arm away. His large hand cradled her neck to lay her on the pillow, tucked her in properly, and finally placed a kiss on her lips before he closed the door of the medical cabin and followed Zong Fang out.
"What about him?"
"He’s dead."
Ruka fell silent, frowning. "Are you sure?"
Zong Fang nodded. "When I found him, he was already gone. Maybe he was just holding on to find out if Qiaoqiao was safe, not willing to close his eyes. I told him Qiaoqiao was fine, and with that, he let go and passed away within minutes."
Ruka closed his eyes and pressed his temple. "Didn’t he leave any words?"
Zong Fang hesitated for a moment, then spoke. "He said... don’t tell her."
Ruka’s brow furrowed slightly with a hint of melancholy, but mostly filled with sorrow. "It’s best not to hide such things."
Earlier, he kept Anubis’s capture from Qiao Suisui because she was pregnant and he didn’t want to distress her. He was also betting on the chance of rescuing Anubis so that he could bring Anubis to her later and explain the situation properly, ensuring she wouldn’t be angry with him. However, the current situation was completely different; Suisui’s health was no longer a major issue, and she would definitely go look for Anubis right away. What would she feel when she found out by herself that Anubis was dead and that she was the last to know?
Zong Fang felt the same, but he had promised Anubis after all. Despite their relationship, honoring the dead was crucial.
"I won’t tell her," he said.
Ruka glanced at him, instantly understanding his intention. "Then I will."
Zong Fang didn’t say anything else, just nodded and went in.
There seemed to be a tacit understanding between strong individuals. Before, when Zong Fang and Ruka had fought, setting aside Qiao Suisui’s involvement, deep down each man held a veiled respect for the other, even though it was not apparent on the surface.
The flying ship zoomed through the interstellar trajectory at light speed, arriving at Auslan after a full night had passed. Just as the pilot was steadying the ship, suddenly, a large black hole appeared on the glass right in front of him.
A red-haired man emerged cursing through the hole, stepped onto the control panel, and jumped to the floor, looking as if he was ready to throw punches.
"Damn it, not only do I work for his damn dad, now I’ve been tricked into this rivalry and daddy competition, shit!"
The pilot wore a baffled look, completely puzzled by what he was saying. Snapping back to his senses, he immediately pressed the flying ship’s alarm.
Suddenly, automatic locks secured the entire ship, and red lights flashed overhead.
Carl looked back, this time noticing the pilot huddled in the corner, giving him a speechless glance before striding toward the midsection of the ship.
At this moment, Sang Yan, hearing the alarm, came out and froze upon seeing Carl return.
"What are you looking at? Where is she?" Carl was irritable, finding no one pleasing to his eyes.
Sang Yan said, "She’s fine, asleep."
Hearing Sang Yan say Qiao Suisui was still asleep, Carl instinctively lowered his voice. Although he immediately wanted to see her, thinking about how she might not have slept well during this period subdued his surging emotions, which he covered up with a joke.
He walked over and grabbed Sang Yan’s shoulder, whispering close to his ear, "Do you want to stay by her side?"
Sang Yan paused, lowered his head, neither admitting nor denying.
Carl smirked and continued, "I know what you’re thinking, but you have to get past a certain person first."
"Colonel Sikoses?"
Carl shook his head, seriously analyzing for him, "Sikoses only appears aloof, but he’s actually quite tolerant. The real effort should be directed toward Zong Fang."
Sang Yan lowered his gaze in thought, then looked up after a long while and asked Carl, "Do you want to use me against Zong Fang?"
Carl choked, his expression a bit awkward, but then he said frankly, "Your mind is sharp, worthy of being my teammate."
Sang Yan didn’t know when he had become part of his team.
Carl crossed his arms and said, "Saying ’using’ is a bit harsh; I just want you to keep Zong Fang busy when you’re free, so he doesn’t hover around Suisui all the time. But if you don’t want to, it’s fine. I don’t like forcing people."
"I can."
Carl raised an eyebrow, eying Sang Yan playfully.
Sang Yan looked serious as he said to Carl, "I just want to chat with her occasionally, seeing her is enough for me."
Carl had never been wary of Sang Yan, but hearing him say this, he somewhat regretted his impulsiveness. Sang Yan was usually quiet, but sincere, and over time, even he began to feel guilty about bullying him. Suisui was soft-hearted; was it really right to let someone who subtly gained her favor stay by her side? It seemed he really had been fuddled by that old man Zong Yan, played around by him until he was cornered within the Federation, realizing too late that he was just buying time, and Zong Fang had long taken Suisui away.
What a master manipulator.
Impressive!
Carl waved his hand, dispelling those irritations, not acknowledging he said, "I was just joking; don’t take it seriously."
Ignoring Sang Yan’s sad eyes, he turned toward Qiao Suisui’s room and heard Leberli’s voice as he approached the door.
"She hasn’t woken up yet? She’s been asleep for a whole day and night, at least get her to eat something before she sleeps again."
Zong Fang said, "She’s extremely tired, let her sleep."
Ruka glanced at his watch, checked the situation outside with the central control, and learning that the flying ship had landed safely and everything was prepared at the Imperial Court, said, "I’ll go wake her."
The medical cabin’s door was opened after the airbag was released, and the man’s hitherto unemotional tone turned gentle in the next second.
"Suisui, we’ve arrived."
Ruka stroked her hair, gently kissed her eyes, and softly called her.
But the sleeping person didn’t respond at all.
Zong Fang frowned, immediately sensing something was wrong. He hurried over, grabbed her hand and called, "Qiaoqiao, wake up."
Leberli reacted quickly, loudly calling the outside medical team to come in. Carl rushed in somewhat panicky, knelt beside her cabin, cupped her face with both hands, "Sweetheart, don’t scare me." Carl turned to the several men around him and yelled, "Didn’t you say she was fine?"
Zong Fang couldn’t hear what the others were saying, focusing quickly and meticulously on examining her.
