Husband you've abandoned me. Fine, I'll focus on raising my son-Chapter 214: The first encounter
Shortly after we were done, she then helped me into the wheelchair and took me out of my room.
As usual, we passed the bodyguards outside my room, and one accompanied Nurse Anne and me.
I noticed near my bedroom was another set of double doors, which looked like the entrance to another bedroom.
"Is that a bedroom?" I asked Anne.
"Yes, it’s Mr Acland’s room, ma’am," she informed. A disgusted expression formed on my face.
He was decent enough to give me my own room, but he was still too close to mine. Perhaps he wanted to keep a close eye on me.
As we made our way outside the estate, my eyes scanned the property, trying to get a good visual map of the place. The first thing that struck me was that there were so many cameras in almost every section. Keith had told me about this as a security measure. But this would be a problem if I tried to escape.
There were few staff and but multiple guards and bodyguards in different areas. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
I took note of where the gate was located and how the estate grounds were, as Anne pushed me around.
We then stood in the middle of the garden, and I took in the warmth of the sun.
After about 10 minutes or so, one of the house servants came to Anne and me.
"Mrs Acland, Mr Acland would like to see you in a sitting room near your rooms," the servant informed me. I recalled I had to meet with him to discuss finding Tony.
Anne and I soon returned to the mansion. She put me in the sitting room, and I waited for him. When he walked in.
When my eyes met his, I couldn’t hide the frown on my face as he walked in.
"I heard you had an asthma attack this morning. Are you okay?" He asked me as he walked in.
"I’m fine," I told him through gritted teeth.
I then bit my lip as I told myself to try to speak civilly with him. This was for Tony. I reminded myself.
"You’re not going to work today?" I asked him. It was a Tuesday, and he had been at the estate the day before as well.
"I had to meet with the police this morning and give them a statement on your behalf," he told me. "But I will go later today," he explained as he sat down on the seat opposite mine.
My lips pressed into a thin line as I looked at him.
"I also received files from the police about your bodyguards in recent days", he informed me.
"How are they?" I asked, wondering how my bodyguards were doing. They had done their best to protect Tony and me. With the shock of finding out Keith was keeping me, I hadn’t immediately thought of them the day before.
"They are fine and mostly have woken up to my knowledge. The Carrington boy is handling their care now," he told me.
A scoff escaped from my mouth at that.
"His name is Louis," I corrected him. "What are you, a jealous housewife?" I mocked how rude and dismissive he always was when it came to Louis.
He didn’t respond and just placed the folders he held on the table in the centre.
looked down at the papers on the table. "As I said yesterday, our best bet to find Anthony, is to find Diana and where she and her group went after escaping from the estate. She most probably returned to her partner."
I looked down at the folders and reached out to put them on the table.
"They had been planning with Diana for years," I commented as I looked through the details of what he had found so far. "Louis and I went to Kensington, where we found out that there was a double life Diana was living with this person and Marco."
"I’ve been trying to figure out who it could be. This person could either be the true father of Marco, or Marco was randomly picked, then disguised to look like you," I commented as I went through the folder. It showed a report on my attack at the parking lot and then the details of the fire at the estate.
"Whoever it is doesn’t seem to like you very much," My eyes narrowed as I glared at him with a smug smile."Something I can agree with them on. Who do you think that could be?"
Who were your enemies, Keith, other than you? His jaw was tight as he took a sip of the tea from his teacup and placed it on the table.
I recalled that Keith had told me that he hadn’t managed to get Marco’s DNA.
My eyes widened as I recalled that I had had a DNA test taken for Marco. I quickly informed Keith about it. His eyes widened in surprise at this revelation.
"Let me check my emails to see if they sent me a response that the test is ready, or let me call them," I told him.
Keith’s eyes didn’t falter. "...I’ll have them contacted shortly on your behalf," he told me.
I rolled my eyes at him. I knew he was going to refuse me access to my phone, but I still wanted to test and see what he would say."
"You should have had that test done yourself years ago and spared us all of this. You shouldn’t have just accepted Diana’s obvious fake DNA test at face value," I told them.
Keith’s eyes flashed with guilt, and for a moment, silence ensued.
"...I know," was all Keith said in response in a small voice.
I was frustrated by his annoying little displays of ’guilt’. His version of it.
"I also want to see the estate," I said as I continued to go through the file. I was curious to see the damage to it and Marco’s room.
"You can’t go, it’s still too dangerous to have you moving around with your leg like that," He told me. "The estate is the safest place for you."
