HUNTED-Chapter 420: Bonkers
"And? It’s been one day. What have you discovered? Is there a lead?" Kodi rushed out, looking between Finn and the Alpha Queen.
The door opened then and the room grew suddenly thick with unabashed power. It rolled over the walls making them seem to almost burst at the pressure. Kodi looked behind him and standing at the same height as him, or maybe half an inch shorter, the Alpha King strode in the room, his expression steely, assessing the room and looking to Kodi as the troublemaker.
Alpha Damon looked Kodi up and down, noting his lack of clothes, the tattoos, the scars and piercings, his height, and the rough look in his eyes, which revealed he’d had hardships in his life. If the scars weren’t a huge giveaway, then it was his eyes.
"And we are searching for her," Alpha Damon proclaimed in his deep, gravelly voice that shook the floor.
It gave no room for questions or arguing. He began walking past the rogue, his eyes set on his mate.
But Kodi didn’t give two shits about that. He didn’t like the King’s answer.
"Not hard enough," Kodi growled and he swore he heard a sharp intake of breath.
Damon paused his steps beside his shoulder and glared at the punk who’d somehow ended up in his home.
"I thought you were meant to have the best trackers in the world. And what… you are still searching for her. The longer she is gone the harder it will be to track her."
A muscle ticked in Damon’s jaw as his thoughts turned to the most gruesome way he could hang this pup up by his intestines in the cellar. Darius was already plotting the easiest and then the longest outcome of such pursuits.
"Rex," Damon called without looking at him, his icy gaze on the unwelcome rogue they’d taken to help recover from the wolfsbane in his system. "Who is this… punk?"
Kodi held the King’s stare.
Randall- no-Rex swallowed hard. "Her Highness’s…."
Bully?
Lover?
Mate?

What would he say. It intrigued Kodi how much the guard had observed and what he was willing to say.
"Classmate."
Rhea and Sora gaped at him, an action that didn’t go unnoticed by Aila or Damon. Damon narrowed his eyes at them while Aila assessed him more curiously.
"Classmate… Mate? As in friend?" Damon looked Kodi up and down again. "I don’t think so."
The Alpha King rejected him. Not a surprise there.
"You don’t get to choose. It’s Keira’s choice."
"Keira?" Damon grabbed him by the throat, growling. "It’s Her Highness or Princess to you!"
Kodi glared back. This was wasting time. He didn’t give a damn about what this King thought about him. He was sure they were doing everything they could to get their precious daughter back, but it wasn’t good enough.
"Ohhhhh weeeee, there’s a lot of tension here. Men, stop measuring ya dicks… Women stop ogling that includes you, my little fluffy black bird… In fact, you’re too young for that!"
Damon squeezed his eyes shut, his grip loosening at the strangest entry Kodi had ever encountered. He looked at everyone’s faces, each cringing or biting their lip from not laughing—that was the Queen. In Sora’s case, she looked mortified.
"Now, now." A man with black hair, a tall, lean frame, and green cat eyes somehow squeezed himself between the Alpha King and Kodi. "Such mucho men…" He rolled his eyes. "Calm down. Now is not the time for this."
The man went from jesting to a serious tone as he looked from Alpha Damon and eyed Kodi with more curiosity than hatred. "Ya know…" The seriousness vanished as he smirked. "If you wanted to meet her father… You should have worn a shirt."
Before Kodi could respond, the man shoved him AND the Alpha King aside, rushing frantically towards Sora.
"Sora!" The man ran to the girl and tugged her tightly into his chest. "You leave me all summer and then you return and something like this happens!"
He pulled back and stared at her, his expression serious. "Do you want some ice cream? You can stay in our room until you feel comfortable again. Shall we put Bridget Jones on? Oh, wait, no… you like weird horrors… Want to-"
"Daaad… I’m fine," Sora answered with a sigh.
"How could my little blackbird be?" The man pouted. "The Order came and…."
"Ajax…" The Alpha Queen called and held her hands up, hovering them as though to say to him, ’calm down’.
Ajax… Wait… This was the shapeshifter Ajax on the W.S.H.O council. The World of Supernatural & Human Organisation. Obviously there were the two main leaders of this organistation—the Alpha King and Queen. But Kodi wasn’t expecting to see the shapeshifter. He hadn’t really paid much attention to the other supernatural creatures.
All he wanted to know about was the werewolf politics and where rogues stood—exactly where they had been when he was a kid.
Ajax stared at Aila and then gasped. "Aila! I’m sorry… I will head to the skies straight away and help with the search and…"
Kodi tuned the loud man out, still a little surprised that he was on the biggest council in the world. Seriously, that guy?!
Instead, Kodi watched as Damon looked at the guy like he was irritating, yet he couldn’t quite dislike him. "Who’s the snowflake?" Kodi asked, pointing his thumb at this Ajax.
"Don’t even ask, kid," Damon sighed, then glared at him as though speaking to Kodi like a normal person was ridiculous. He was the ’punk’ who seemed a little too familiar with his daughter.
This house was bonkers. Was this how Keira grew up?
Keira… His mate…
What was he doing standing around with this crowd? He wasn’t even a part of this overly loving and bonkers family home.
"Look, thanks for…" Giving him some shorts? If he was passed out, Kodi was used to waking up by himself and sorting out whatever situation he was in by himself.
He was a rogue. This pack nonsense was really a bit too… warm and cosy for his liking.
"Everything. But I can’t stand around waiting for others to find her. I am gonna do something useful." Kodi pushed away from the wall and started for the door.
Damon, unsurprisingly, didn’t stop him.
Kodi left the living room that was full of despair and anxiousness yet it was also full of hope. They somehow were confident with whatever plan they were doing to get their daughter back.
"Kodi, wait!"
Kodi frowned as he stopped a little further down the corridor. He turned and paused upon seeing Aila.
"Why don’t you have something to eat before you leave?" She asked, smiling softly. "You still need to eat and regain your strength before you find my daughter."
Was she for real? Kodi couldn’t stop his brows from furrowing together. Why was she looking at him like that? She looks almost excited? It made him feel uncomfortable.
Sensing he was uncomfortable by her hospitality and wanting to get to know him, Aila didn’t push the rogue into staying. "At least let me find you a shirt and trainers… in your size then you may go."
Kodi didn’t respond but he didn’t decline either. Once he was given a shirt and some trainers, Kodi Black left the mansion without looking back, ignoring the Alpha Queen’s probing stare, believing she to be nosy more than anything and unaware that she was concerned for him as well as her daughter.
Aila looked to the sky, and although she couldn’t see the moon, she could still sense the Moon Goddess. Is this the path you have given my child? As usual, only the soft wind answered her in silence.
