Humanity.exe-Chapter 44: Dull
My shot felt clean but yet something about it also felt dull. Why was it that I got two clean kills, yet I couldn’t understand this strange feeling all of a sudden.
I went to fire my next shot and immediately I was met with a malfunction within the trigger itself. It wasn’t going back as I tried to push on it.
Of course this is just my luck for something to malfunction as I’m out here starting to kill some filth. I’ll fix this quickly and deal with the rest of them before they even have the opportunity to find out where I am.
After a few moments I manage to fix the trigger so that the LZR-01 won’t have any issues trying to fire again. It was probably my fault for not doing any gun maintenance on it lately so I’ll have to keep up more in the future.
The guys below were still in a panic since they didn’t really know where the shit came from, since netguns are unique with their tracking.
Making shots hard to pinpoint most of the time without actually watching for the initial fire from the muzzle.
Bang!!! KRRRRZ- BANG!!! One shot after another while working towards killing all of the guys below me. Except, I noticed that my shots weren’t all going for the head for some reason.
Some were body shots while others were just taking out their legs.
Why is my aim not going for the head only? This couldn’t be another malfunction could it... I don’t really know what could cause this kind of issue.
Instantly I looked at the settings within the scope itself and nothing was changed so why was it not going where it should. That feeling again, like a dull knife.
It feels as if I’ve lost my edge a bit from being behind a damn desk which is exactly what I didn’t want to do. I’ll fix this problem real quick and I mean like right now.
Most of those guys don’t even seem to have guns, yet they are supposed to be part of a damn gang. Melee weapons are the dumbest thing to rely on against someone who can actually use a gun.
I packed up the LZR-01 and made sure it is secured properly before quickly scaling down the rooftop. It didn’t take me long to reach the streets where the remaining guys are.
"Who the hell is this guy!?!!" One of them shouted.
"He has a rifle on his back so maybe he’s the damn asshole who shot at us!" Another one chimed in with anger in his voice.
None of them have a gun, what a bunch of morons. I’ll make this interesting and finish them off after beating them down myself.
I lifted my arms before dashing towards them, swinging one fist after another towards each one. Each punch across one of their faces felt like a bit of joy going into my body.
Splat! Blood was hitting the ground after each one that I punched, it wasn’t hard but it wasn’t easy to avoid multiple guys trying to punch me.
Weave, duck, weave, punch. That was the easiest pattern and they couldn’t get a decent hit in once.
"Someone just hit this guy already!!!" One shouted with frustration.
1, 3, 5, and finally the last guy was all that stood before me with a shocked look across his face. I looked down at my fists and they were absolutely covered in blood, those guys took a lot of hits before calling it quits.
That, or I really am as dull as I think I am. Sharpening myself would be the best approach to handle everything today.
The sounds of the other guys groaning in pain on the floor was all I could hear as I stared directly at the guy in front of me. He was shaking a bit and didn’t seem to know what to do.
"Scared? You mine as well go down like a man instead of a bitch." I said while cracking my knuckles.
This arm really is nice to have, not that I couldn’t handle these guys without it. It just makes it a bit easier sometimes when I need to handle business. I’m sure this isn’t nearly as bad as someone who has full metal.
Nobody here had steel either which is insane when we live in the streets like we do.
The guy finally charged at me and I could see his swings, it almost felt like it was slowed down for me. Whiff! Dodge! Whiff!
Each punch was going past me without me even really having to dodge too much, this guy was a complete amateur. None of them were good fighters, especially not this guy.
Finally I caught his arm. Crack!!! "Gahhhhh!!!! Shit!!! Shit!!!" He shouted in pain as he fell back onto the ground.
"I wouldn’t try to bring Vantablade back if I were you. I’ll be more than happy to wipe them out again." I said while staring right at him with a serious tone in my voice.
Just barely I could hear him try to grab something off the ground to swing at me and I didn’t hesitate to draw my deagle and aim it right at his head.
Click. "Wait! Wait! Wait! Please... I won’t try to do anything again and I won’t bring Vantablade back..." He shouted as tears began to flow down his cheeks.
If I spare him after he tried to pick up a weapon to strike me... That would make me look weak to anyone that’s watching. What kind of person do I really want to be anyway?
Kuroten isn’t weak so it would probably be better to end his life now so I don’t have to do it later. I’ve never questioned anything when it came to killing before so there’s no reason to now.
Bang!!! His brains splattered onto the pavement before his body fell backwards, the others were laying on the ground terrified.
"Take that as your message to leave Vantablade in the dirt." I said before walking away.
