Humanity.exe-Chapter 40: Struggle (3)

Rezex left the room and then it was back to me sitting by myself, not that I minded. Nyoshi is out, the other members are still settling in, and Reika is figuring out our doc.

I don’t know if she’ll be able to recruit the guy or not since he’s been a pain in the ass with everything so far. We’ll probably need to just continue our search for a different one since he isn’t coming around.

At least that’s how Reika told me it was going last so I doubt that it has changed.

It would probably do me some good to go and actually talk to her about the whole thing since it has been a few days. Sitting around like this trying to be productive hasn’t really been working out.

So obviously it would be best to get up and figure some of this shit out instead. I’ll head over to Reika’s room to see what she’s got going on.

As I walked down the hallways I could see a few of the new members talking but it went quiet the moment they saw me. Fear and intimidation might have a bit of a part to play with that.

I didn’t see the need to say anything to them so I passed by and continued on my way over to Reika’s room. At least it was pretty peaceful here, nobody was too annoying to deal with.

Before I could even knock on the door, she opened it up. She didn’t seem surprised to see me in the slightest since it has been a few days.

"I was actually about to come to tell you some positive news." Reika said with a bit of a relieved look on her face.

"I’m listening." I replied while putting my hands in my pockets.

"Junji finally came around to joining us. He’s definitely interested in what we are trying to accomplish." Reika explained with some excitement in her voice.

I’m definitely curious what the hell she told him exactly. It can be quite a dangerous game if we go around telling people our goals.

"What did you tell him exactly?" I questioned with a curious tone.

"That we want to get rid of corporate scum and that a lot of filth is plaguing the streets." Reika answered without any hesitation in the slightest.

She didn’t even hesitate to give that answer so obviously I can’t say that she is lying about it. It is also pretty spot on for what we are trying to do.

Eliminating corporate scum and filth on the streets is pretty damn accurate to what my goal is. That kind of information isn’t too bad to give someone since it can’t be taken the wrong way.

Most gangs do believe filth is in our streets and most hate the corporations around the city. It would be shocking if a gang didn’t see things the way I do.

Just not all of them are smart enough to actually do something about it.

I took one of my hands out of my pocket and ran it through my hair as I looked at her for a moment.

"That answer is good. I should’ve expected you to handle everything just fine. Just been a bit of a interesting day." I said while scratching my head.

"Why’s that?" She questioned with a bit of a curious look on her face.

I don’t know if it would be a good for me to tell her or if it would be better for her to see on her own. Rezex probably won’t hesitate to let Reika know that he is back.

"Nyoshi is out in the field, got another new member today, and I might’ve found something worth checking out." I answered with a straight face.

Obviously I didn’t find a damn thing worth checking out yet, it’ll just work to buy me a bit of time. I definitely wish that I could’ve found something useful today.

"That definitely does sound like an interesting day. What is Nyoshi out doing?" Reika asked, the same curious look in her eyes.

"Getting information for the time being. I’d like to know who is around us before I start making any major moves." I responded with an honest tone.

"I’m hoping he’ll be able to find out something. You could’ve just asked me though." Reika said with a bit of a smug smile.

"Yeah, yeah. You were handling something else that was just as important. If he can’t find anything, then I’ll ask you to figure it out instead." I responded with a laid back tone.

I could feel a little bit of a smile on my face, maybe she was starting to grow on me a bit. We have been working together for a good while now, not nearly as long as Rezex or Pinky but it has been awhile.

Maybe this struggle won’t last forever.

"Why don’t you come in here for a little while." Reika suggested with a smile.

"I guess it wouldn’t hurt to kill some time." I responded before entering her room.

The day kind of passed by after that. Reika showed me some stuff on the computer and helped me dig around a little bit.

Not enough that it would make everything pointless for Nyoshi, but something that definitely would help.

A corporation known as Vital-Tech is working on something big, a project known as "Vega Six." Whatever the hell that’s supposed to mean.

"Can you see any sort of information about the project?" I asked while looking at the screen.

"It might be break in nano bot tech. If it is, that means wounds can be healed by these injections." Reika answered with a bit of shock in her voice.

Mana already allows for some amazing boosts in strength but imagine what can be done with mana infused nano bots. I still have a lot to learn about mana and what it can truly do.

A lot of people refer to it as magic when people use it but I haven’t really come to understand it enough yet.

But if there is some sort of magic that can heal, wouldn’t nano bots be pointless? I guess they could still serve a purpose for those who can’t utilize such a thing.
