Humanity.exe-Chapter 29: Time To Make A Choice (1)

I was kind of caught by surprise because I didn’t expect to come up here to Reika throwing everything around.

"What’s going on Reika?" I asked with a bit of concern in my voice.

"Pinky and Rezex are just gone. They left." Reika answered as the tears continue to flow.

"Did they say when they’ll be back?" I questioned with a soft, yet curious tone.

"They aren’t coming back. Karma is probably done for and they don’t want to watch everything collapse again." Reika responded before taking a seat on the bed.

I guess it really is time for me to make a choice about what to do going forward since Karma is already burning. At least if I decide to go now, maybe Reika can come along for the journey.

"It was kind of rough how everything happened but maybe it is time for something new." I said with some confidence.

"Something new?" She questioned with a bit of confusion.

"I want to start up my own gang and take over Kairox. Originally the plan was to have Karma as an ally but why not join me from the beginning?" I responded with a question of my own.

Having Reika by my side wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world since she does have some skills to her. She also isn’t completely stupid about things, just needs to plan a little more in the future.

It won’t matter since I’ll be the one planning things going forward but I guess I will need a second in command.

"I-I...I’ll consider it, just give me till tomorrow morning at the very least. I’d like to just rest and think on it for today." Reika said with some hesitation.

"Take your time. I’ll probably know what I’m doing tomorrow anyway." I replied before walking out the room.

I walked down the hall and back downstairs to the area with all the computers. They didn’t take anything when they left so I still have some tech to utilize.

What exactly would be the right thing to use this for right now? I guess finding an ideal location to start setting up a new headquarters would be smart.

I also need a name for my gang as well since right now there isn’t one. I guess I can worry about it after we have a headquarters.

This place will still work temporarily but Pinky and Rezex know of it, you never know if they’ll betray us. Leaving was already a bad sign so there’s no telling if they come back with the enemy.

I’m also positive that it won’t be the last time I see Rezex since he did want to work with me.

With those thoughts in mind I began to look for a location that would be the most ideal for us. It didn’t take long to look throughout the city for any and all potential buildings that were available.

I don’t really have a whole lot of money to spend so I guess a bit of hacking would probably be the way to go. Hack a deed into my name and make sure everything is stated properly.

I’m a bit rusty when it comes to all of this but I guess I can do my best.

Tap. Tap. I can feel someone tapping on my shoulder from behind all of a sudden.

"Let me handle that. I can do it a lot better and faster anyway. Putting this into your name I assume." Reika said before slightly pushing me to the side.

"Yeah you can handle it. Thanks." I replied with a bit of a surprised tone.

I didn’t really expect her to appear out of nowhere to help with that since she was just upstairs a few moments ago. She also told me she was thinking about everything but I guess she doesn’t have to join to do this.

Just could be doing it as a favor or to be nice since I’ve helped her out with so much over the last few days.

Though one thing I’m still worried about is... Doc. I genuinely want to find out where he went or what happened to him. His disappearance is still a mystery that has left us all stumped.

I’d like to be hopeful and say that he wouldn’t join the enemy but there’s always the possibility of that.

"Done. Got the place secured in your name. Seems like it is on Lauriel street. When are you heading there?" Reika said before asking me her question.

"Probably tomorrow. It’ll take a good bit of time to set everything up, so I mine as well head there immediately." I responded with a laid back tone.

I don’t really have much to bring with me to set up but I can at least get used to the place and see where I’ll be sleeping. This whole journey is just beginning.

Making sure everything suits me is the main goal.

"Alright. I’ll make sure my answer is given tomorrow before you get the chance to leave." Reika assured me.

"I’ll be waiting for it. Get some rest Reika." I said with a kind tone.

I watched her walk back towards the stairs after that, it only took a few moments before she disappeared upstairs. There was still a lot for me to figure out and not enough time for me to do it.

I looked back at the computer before realizing that this is the opportunity to do some scouting as well. This setup is perfect for learning all that I need to about the location of my new headquarters.

The night seemed to pass by with ease as I studied everything about the new location and even looked into the watchers I encountered.

Some psycho’s that believe in upholding order or something? I can’t believe I took the time to look into those assholes. They are definitely not trying to uphold order in the slightest.

What a load of shit.
