The yellow sky loomed heavy as the ZETU team regrouped near the base of the old factory. The groans of the undead reverberated around them, a near-constant drumbeat of dread. The Titan-class zombie, still towering in the distance, roared with rage, rallying the horde toward the team’s position. Its glowing blue eyes scanned the wasteland like searchlights.

"We’re running out of time," Ethan’s voice buzzed through the comms from the surveillance van. "Whatever’s controlling them is in that church. If we don’t neutralize it soon, this entire sector’s lost."

Captain Marcus Kane wiped the sweat from his brow, his shotgun loaded and ready. "Alright, listen up. Shield and Blaze, you’re on crowd control. Hold them off as long as you can. Quick Shot, give us cover fire from the high ground. Huntress, you’re with me. We’re going for the source."

"Copy that," Riley "Quick Shot" Bennett replied, already scaling the crumbling remains of a nearby billboard. Her sniper rifle glinted in the faint sunlight breaking through the haze.

Derek "Shield" Coleman planted his riot shield in the dirt, readying his position as the first wave of zombies stumbled closer. "This’ll be messy," he muttered.

Jenna "Blaze" Hart smirked, her flamethrower roaring to life. "Messy’s my specialty."

As Blaze unleashed a wall of fire, Marcus and Lila "Huntress" Navarro sprinted toward the church. The air thickened with ash and the acrid stench of burning flesh. Zombies flailed in the flames, their glowing eyes flickering as they fell. But for every one that went down, two more emerged from the fog, their hunger insatiable.

"Captain, they’re everywhere!" Lila shouted, firing her pistols with precision. A pair of zombies lunged at her, but she dropped them both with well-placed shots to the head.

"Keep moving!" Marcus barked. "We can’t let them box us in!"

As they neared the church, the Titan bellowed again. Its massive frame barreled through the wreckage, smashing cars and rubble in its path. Riley took a deep breath, steadied her aim, and fired. The sniper round pierced the Titan’s shoulder, causing it to stumble.

"Direct hit!" Riley called out.

"Good work, Quick Shot. Keep it distracted!" Marcus replied.

The church’s doors creaked open as Marcus and Lila reached the steps. Inside, the air was cold and damp. The faint hum of machinery echoed through the space, mingling with an eerie chant.

"Captain, this isn’t just zombies," Lila whispered, her eyes scanning the room. "This is... something else."

At the altar, a figure cloaked in black stood before a strange, glowing device. The figure turned slowly, revealing a pale, skeletal face with unnatural blue eyes that matched the horde.

"Welcome," the figure hissed, its voice like nails on glass. "You’re too late. The Hive is already awake."

Outside, the Titan roared louder, and the church began to tremble. Marcus raised his shotgun. "Not if we stop it here."

The battle for the Hive had begun.
