Chapter 638: He has lost weight.

Her voice was very light, like a wisp of ash, gently falling down.

Ryan Smith unconsciously lowered his voice as well, looking at Daisy Ginger, and said, "How do you know that he isn’t the Edward Stephens you once loved?"

Daisy looked at him, a hint of a smile on her lips, then turned away and took a drag from her cigarette.

She truly wasn’t in the mood to meet Edward Stephens; bringing Erin along to see him was already her utmost effort.

Over the years, even if she really owed him anything, it had long been repaid, and what remained was what he owed, which he could never repay in a lifetime.

She didn’t feel there was anything left to say sitting face to face with Edward Stephens. Should she ask why he hadn’t contacted her in a year? Ask why he only thought of seeing her one last time after becoming gravely ill? Ask why he was so cruel and selfish to her?

She could never forgive his actions.

Ryan watched her cold expression, felt a pang in his heart, knowing he couldn’t persuade her, and decided to turn back.

Erin Ginger stayed in Edward Stephens’ hospital room for a full hour before coming out.

Daisy Ginger was sitting on the bench, almost falling asleep.

"Mommy."

Little Erin came over and shook her hand, startling her awake. Daisy, seeing him, reached out and hugged him, stroking his soft short hair. "How was the chat?"

Little Erin softly said, "Daddy is thinner."

Which patient wouldn’t be thin?

Daisy remembered the last image of Edward Stephens in her memory, shook her head, and brushed away the emotions rising in her heart, standing up from the bench.

"Do you want to stay here for a few more days, or should we leave today?"

Ryan, just opening the door, heard Daisy’s words.

His heart skipped a beat, and he immediately walked over.

"Let’s stay a few more days. Little Erin got along well with Edward. If you don’t want to see him, let them meet a few more times as father and son."

Daisy glanced at him, then looked down at Erin.

Little Erin looked up at her with hopeful eyes, blinking.

Daisy was speechless, wondering what magic Edward Stephens had over this kid, making him so smitten.

She raised her hand and gently tapped the little boy’s forehead. "Three days. After three days, we’ll go back."

Ryan let out a sigh of relief and immediately made preparations, "I have a place near the hospital where I don’t live. You can stay there for these few days. The doorman knows my driver, so you’ll have no trouble getting in and out."

Daisy gave him a glance, then calmly looked away and responded, "Thanks for the trouble."

Finally getting them to stay, Ryan felt at ease, making a call to have someone come up and escort Daisy downstairs.

Watching Daisy and her child leave, Ryan opened the door and went back into the hospital room.

"Have they all left?"

Coco poked her head out, curiously glancing outside.

"They left." Ryan nodded, then looked over at the hospital bed, lowering his voice, "How is Edward?"

"Asleep." Coco whispered, "He talked with his son for an hour."

"Must be exhausted..."

Ryan sighed softly, not walking in further, just standing by the doorway.

From his angle, he couldn’t see his face, only the man’s gaunt back and a pale ankle sticking out from under the covers.
