Hogwarts: Bloodline Legend-Chapter 619 - 173: The Real Punching Bag, The Shift of Enigma (Part 2)
He realized he might not have remembered wrong about Ian’s house.
His heart started to sink.
"Don’t worry, the atmosphere in Slytherin is pretty good, my best friend can prove it." Ian gave Aurora, who wasn’t too interested in the sorting, a hard pat on the shoulder.
"For Ian’s sake, I’ll look out for you." Aurora stated her attitude succinctly, her eyes returning to Ian, who was about to head back to the Ravenclaw table.
"As I mentioned earlier, your Corpse Plague Bursting Spell has quite a few flaws, it can’t possibly have the city-wide spread capabilities you imagined."
She spoke with a serious tone.
Which made Harry Potter feel a bit chilled.
Mr. Savior found it hard to imagine what kind of terrifying topic the two little wizards were discussing before he came over.
Studying corpse plagues?
He thought that maybe he didn’t need that much looking after after all.
"As long as the erupted plague virus is sufficient, affecting a whole country wouldn’t be a problem." Ian was quite confident, earlier they were discussing nuclear deterrence.
Aurora, or rather the philosophy of Saint education, believed that the Wizarding World also needed its own nuclear deterrence, so Ian just shared some of his insights.
Their conversation.
Made Harry Potter feel an increasing chill down his spine.
This seemed a bit different from the magical learning Mr. Savior imagined?
"It’s just academic exchange, like those pharmaceutical companies. They research viruses not necessarily to harm others." Ian noticed Harry Potter’s discomfort.
He came up with a seemingly faultless reason—at least Harry Potter couldn’t pinpoint anything wrong, even though he felt something odd without knowing exactly what.
"I’ve heard of a virus called the Ebola virus... but, I think studying this kind of magic is too dangerous. Can’t we study magic that makes people happy?"
"Of course, if it’s really necessary to research this stuff... I remember Ron has a rat he doesn’t want... this would certainly be safer than using humans for this kind of magical research."
After racking his brain, Harry spoke cautiously, showing that he was trying hard to fit in, but his nature made it difficult to accept magic like the Corpse Plague Bursting Spell.
...
Another debate ensued.
Which was met with consecutive prompts from Snape.
Ian could only return to the Ravenclaw table somewhat reluctantly.
"Ding ding ding~"
After everyone was seated, Albus Dumbledore, as usual, tapped his glass. The lively atmosphere in the hall instantly became as quiet as a classroom.
"I know everyone must be starving, but before the feast begins, I need to announce a few things." Dumbledore used magic to project his voice to every little wizard’s ear precisely.
"First, I want to remind the naughty little wizards that your Defense Against the Dark Arts professor has some things in the underground classroom. Unless absolutely necessary, it’s best not to sneak in there."
"Even though he assured both us and the Ministry of Magic that his pets won’t kill, I don’t quite trust him." Dumbledore started off by criticizing Grindelwald harshly.
The new students didn’t react much yet.
The older students all began to groan.
Everyone knew.
What the Professor of Defense Against the Dark Arts was raising would ultimately have to be faced by someone.
"Next is the second matter, due to some irresistible reasons, our original Professor of Care of Magical Creatures may not be able to return to his post for a long time."
"Fortunately, I persuaded the author of your textbook to take over his classes. I believe Professor Newt Scamander will lead everyone to experience a whole new Fantastic Beasts World."
Following Dumbledore’s words.
The hall suddenly erupted with enthusiastic cheers and applause, a stark contrast to before.
"Oh! It’s the author of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them!"
"He single-handedly established the Werewolf Registry at the Ministry of Magic! He’s a legend!"
"Hiss? I remember this professor has always been a violator of the law since he was young, right? And now he’s mixed into the Ministry of Magic? My grandfather from America surely wouldn’t believe this news."
"Yeah, this proves our United Kingdom’s Ministry of Magic is truly free and democratic!"
...
Even though there were some unwilling voices amid the discussions, most, by and large, welcomed this, and Ian even heard Hermione at the Gryffindor table complaining.
"Oh my! It’s him! It’s him! Mr. Scamander! Why do we have to wait until third year to take his class!" Miss Beaver seemed to have a good grasp of the Hogwarts curriculum.
Her voice was rather plaintive.
Amidst everyone’s warm welcome, Newt appeared slightly unaccustomed to the atmosphere, stood up with a slight bow, and just gave a somewhat shy smile.
His boyishness seemed to have never vanished from this old gentleman.
"Thank you, thank you, everyone."
After sitting down, Newt was still somewhat uneasy, but thankfully, the considerate "Lockhart" professor distracted him by pulling over a plate, diverting his attention and inner nervousness.
"Have a taste, the house-elves’ handiwork must be a lot better than before you were expelled." 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
His words were direct.
Newt didn’t detect any malice.
