Chapter 350: Worries And Anxiety.

Nicklaus who hasn’t yet recovered from the phone call almost had a mental breakdown when he wasn’t able to find Arissa in her room.

He placed the tray in her room comfort space and went into his room but she wasn’t there either. He returned to her room and checked the bathroom and her closet but still did not find her.

His emotions finally got the best of him and he panicked. Hastily reaching out for his phone, he dialed her number and it rang out in the room. He looked around and found the phone lying on the bed.

His mind slowly returned to normal and he began to think straight again. At first, he was scared because, for reasons best known to him, he feared she might have heard their conversation, and maybe... and maybe... fuck, he can’t tell what runs through his mind anymore. frёewebnoѵēl.com

All he knew was that when he wasn’t able to find her around, he lost it. He even imagined the worst due to panic.

"The baby room," he muttered to himself when he caught sight of Blu. crib lying on the floor. That was the only place she might be at right now and without wasting any more time, he strolled out of her room and went into the elevator.

Getting to the room floor, he walked out of the elevator. Arriving at the door of the nursery, he forgot how to knock and pushed the door open.

"Arissa," he breathed when he saw her standing before the arranged shelf filled with cotton toys and staring at them.

Arissa turned to him and when her gaze fell on him, the fire in him quenched and his troubles disappeared like they never existed.

Arissa smiled at him and let go of the toy she held, "Nick,"

Nicklaus moved towards her and the moment he stood before her, he yanked her into his arm and buried his face into her head. Arissa did not read any meaning into the sudden hug and with a pleased expression, she returned a warm hug.

"I love you," Nicklaus muttered softly and drooped kisses on her head without raising his face, "Don’t you ever doubt or forget that,"

The warm smile that graced Arissa’s lips when he said he loved her washed away when he added his last line. She raised her hand from her back and patted softly on his head.

"Are you okay?" she asked softly and parted the hug to see his face.

Nicklaus wrapped his hand around her waist, refusing to let go, "I’m okay. I just wanted to see you,"

Arissa chuckled and with a gentle caress on his face, she said, "You don’t sound okay, you don’t even look okay,"

Nicklaus freed one of his hands around her waist to catch her wrist and when he did, he placed a soft kiss on her palm and looked into her eyes, "Trust me when I say I’m okay. Initially I wasn’t but now before you, I am," he told her.

Arissa held Nicklaus’s face and searched his eyes, "Tell me what happened," she ordered, remembering the phone call he left the dining to receive.

"Come on," she took his hand and led him to a corner of the room. Sitting on the floor, she stretched her legs out and tapped on her thighs, "Come here," she sounded like a patient mother talking to her baby.

Nicklaus knelt before her and lay on the floor, using her thighs as a pillow for his head. He faced her stomach, raised her lavender shirt an inch up, and pressed his face on her bare-skinned stomach.

Arissa giggled at the tickling sensation she felt from his hot breath fanning her stomach. Resting her back on the wall, she dugged her fingers into his dark soft hair and began to massage his skull.

Nicklaus kissed the corners of her stomach deeply and asked from within her shirt, "Did you take the pills today?" his voice held hope and he prayed silently for Arissa not to crush it.

Arissa paused her action on his hair and said, "I’ll give you a reply to that only if you let me know what’s wrong with you. You don’t seem fine and your breath on me speaks volumes,"

Nicklaus chuckled, "Oouu sneaky," he muttered with a soft laugh at the end hiding his anxiety.

Arissa ran her fingers over his ears, down to his side jawline, and back into his hair again. She released a deep exhale, "Don’t avoid my question again, Nicklaus. Tell me what happened, you are tensed," she pointed out.

Nicklaus took his face away from her stomach and faced her. He stared into her eyes and assured her, "It was nothing, Arissa. It isn’t worth your energy,"

Arissa frowned and drew her legs to herself. When she did, Nicklaus sat up with a soft expression on his face.

"Why should it be not worth my energy?" In case he doesn’t know, his words shoot out deep into her heart and it hurts her.

"Arissa," Nicklaus detected the hurt in her voice and immediately cupped her face with his big palm, dropped a kiss on her lip,s and smiled at her, "Nothing stressful should be worth your energy. I don’t want the mother of my kids to be stressed over minor issues,"

Arissa went red in the face when he referred to her as a mother. She averted her gaze from him and gazed at the wall behind him, trying hard not to look flattered.

Nicklaus admired her red tomato face and smiled, "I’ll tell you what you need to know_"

"But I want to share your worries and anxiety with you, you promised, did you not?" she argued after interrupting him.

"No, baby," Nicklaus refused, "In as much as I want that, I won’t want anything affecting you."

Arissa parted her lips to say something but Nicklaus seized her words by placing his index finger on her lips for her to keep shut.

"Just do this for me," he pleaded, "I can’t risk dragging you into the damaged world in my head but do not worry, with time, I’ll let them out to you like whispers and then you will understand,"

Arissa blinked innocently, "Nick_"

Nicklaus seized her words again but this time with a kiss. He pressed his lips to hers and kissed her deeply.

Arissa let go of his addicting lips and pressed her forehead on his, "I’m so mad at you right now," she confessed. She hated that have decided to keep her in the dark.

"I know and I’m sorry," Nicklaus breathed on her face and pulled her into a hug. After a while, they parted the hug and stared into each other’s soul at great ease.

Nicklaus held both sides of her face and pressed a gentle kiss on her forehead, "We’ll be fine," he promised her in his heart and there, he sealed the promise.

"Come on let’s go and eat," Nicklaus insisted, standing up after the kiss. He tagged her up and Arissa watched with sweet glints passing through her brown eyes as she admired their intertwined fingers.
