Chapter 83: Gina’s first wound

Gina had been in the bathtub for almost 20 minutes, her mind was still wandering thinking about the words of the workers at home who said they didn’t know Marco. They even went as far as to swear that there was no worker named Marco.

Various questions were popping up in Gina’s mind at this moment, she couldn’t possibly ask her grandmother directly because it would make them all suspicious if she asked a gardener.

"Arrgghh... why did I think of that guy," said Gina, annoyed, hitting the water hard.

Still upset, Gina decided to take a longer bath, so she filled the bathtub with warm water which relaxed all of her muscles. Taking a warm bath after a workout is the most enjoyable thing in the world for Gina.

****

As if nothing had happened before, this morning Vanessa has done her job as usual. The woman returned to being a good wife and daughter-in-law, helping to prepare food in the pantry with several servants and arranging it neatly on the dining table.

When Vanessa was at the dinner table she approached the grapevine of the waiters discussing last night’s events, Vanessa’s jaw tightened when she heard those lowly people talking about her. Vanessa also vowed to get rid of her mother-in-law’s loyal servant once she succeeded in becoming the main lady in the house. After Barbara dies she will be a real big lady and Vanessa is getting impatient waiting for the old lady to die now.

"Oh honey you woke up so early," Vanessa said loudly when she saw Gina appear in front of her.

Gina smiled. "Still lost early to aunty." Gina decided to call aunty on Vanessa after a long deliberation.

Vanessa put the napkin she was holding on the table and walked over to Gina. "Try calling me Mommy, honey. It’s hard but Mommy wants you to call me Mommy, not aunty."

"I-I still..."

"Slowly, Mommy will be patiently waiting."

Gina nodded her head with a smile, seeing Gina smile made Vanessa’s smile widen. Because Vanessa’s work at the dinner table hasn’t been finished, Gina decides to help her, after all, this easy job is not difficult for Gina to do. After finishing setting the table, one by one the occupants of the house went down to have breakfast, starting from Julian, his parents and the two spoiled princes who seemed to really hate Gina.

Selena and Rosa even deliberately ignored Gina’s greeting openly in front of the whole family, which made Barbara shake her head slowly at the behavior of the two grandchildren.

During breakfast, Selena and Rossa together made their grandparents annoyed, because the two girls deliberately rang their cutlery loudly so that it made quite a rowdy sound. Even when Julian rebuked them the two girls only paused, after which they did it again.

"Honey," Vanessa said softly rebuking Selena. "If the meat is really tough you can replace it with other meat, so you don’t have to use all your strength to slice it."

"Ok," Selena answered shortly as she grabbed a new piece of Turkey from the plate that was currently right on top of Gina’s plate.

Prank

"Oops.. sorry!"

The big chunk of hot turkey fell on Gina’s plate who happened to be enjoying the soup, as a result, the hot gravy from the soup came out and hit Gina’s hands and thighs. Luckily, Gina this morning was wearing jeans that were thick enough so that her thighs weren’t hurt because the sauce was still very hot.

"Selena! What are you doing!!"

"Gina, are you okay kid?"

Barbara and Yohanes shouted loudly at the same time at Selena and Gina just as Selena was making a mess.

Gina, who felt the heat in her left hand immediately got up from her chair quickly. She even had time to jump up and down to remove some of the vegetables stuck to her thighs.

"Are you crazy, Selena? Why are you not careful," Vanessa screamed loudly as she ran to Gina who looked in pain.

Selina shrugged. "What did I do? I’m innocent, who told that Turkey to be cut that big?"

"That’s right, Mom. I also saw that Selena accidentally dropped a piece of meat that was too big, so don’t blame Selena. Just blame the service for chopping Turkey so big that it can’t be lifted easily with a fork."Rosa said with a smile. hard enough to defend his sister.

Vanessa shook her head at the words of her two daughters, now all she wanted to do was help Gina. Helped Gina at the right time, in front of everyone who was gathered.

Vanessa guides Gina to walk to the sink to flush her hands that are exposed to hot gravy with running water, a first aid for people experiencing bad things like Gina. Vanessa had even ordered some of the maids to get Gina some ointment to relieve burns.

"Let’s go to your room, honey. We have to check your feet too," Vanessa said hoarsely with worry.

Gina shook her head. "No need, it looks like my leg is okay."

"You can’t do that, honey. Look, the pants you’re wearing are wet. Even though you’re currently wearing jeans, Mommy is sure that the heat penetrates your skin," Vanessa said again to reassure Gina, Vanessa’s eyes filled with tears as she spoke showing how much she really loves Pay attention to Gina.

"There’s really no need ouchh..."

Gina winced in pain as the ointment for burns touched her skin that had just been splashed with cold water.

"Sorry Miss."

Gina shook her head. "It is okay."

Vanessa growled. "Be careful, Gina must be in pain."

The maidservant nodded her head quickly, she applied the ointment again to reduce the burning sensation on Gina’s left hand. Vanessa repeatedly stroked Gina’s head, she really showed her extraordinary motherly nature.

Julian, who had been standing behind the two of them, could only stay silent when he saw his wife treating his daughter very well, even Barbara, who had just joined Julian, smiled when she saw the attention that Vanessa gave to Gina.

"Let’s go to the room, let Mommy apply this ointment. Mommy doesn’t want you to have a scar, honey," Vanessa said softly, seducing Gina to go to the room to take off the jeans she was wearing.

"Don’t really, I don’t feel pain like in my hand either." Gina politely refuses her stepmother’s offer.

"Go Gina, your feet need to be checked too. Follow what Mommy says," said Julian suddenly joining in.

Vanessa and Gina immediately turned to Julian at the same time.

"The sooner it’s handled the better it will be for you, look at your hands. You don’t want it if you hurt your legs like that?" Julian added again.

"Yes Gina, go upstairs. Let your mother help you," said Barbara quietly.

Because she was forced to finally give up, without protesting again, Gina finally followed her stepmother’s steps to her room on the second floor. As she started to climb the stairs Gina grimaced slightly in pain, it seemed that what everyone was saying was right. His leg hurt too, damn! Damn soup. Selina too.

When they saw Gina had gone up to the second floor, Barbara and Julian returned to the dining table, the mother and daughter stared intently at Selena who was still eating quietly as if nothing had happened.

"What’s your problem with Gina, Selena?" Julian rebuked loudly, he really couldn’t wait to see Selena’s behavior.

Selena slammed the knife she was holding onto the table. "I didn’t mean to, Dad. How many more times do I have to say the same sentence?"

"You don’t show any remorse, Selena. Daddy knows you did it on purpose..."

Brak...

Rosa hit the table hard.

"We’re also Daddy’s children, why is Daddy just defending the kid and turning on Selena? Didn’t Selena already say that she didn’t mean to, then why does Daddy keep accusing her like this?" shouted Rosa vehemently.

Julian was silent, his lips pursed when he received an unexpected question from his youngest daughter.

"Since Gina came, all of you have changed attitudes, not only Daddy. Mommy, Grandma and even Grandpa too. We know that Gina has been living alone with her mother out there but it’s not our fault, we don’t know what happened to her and her mother. So please don’t treat me and Selena like this, we are both still part of the Sanders family. We also have Sanders blood as Grandpa always said just like Gina, we are both Daddy’s daughters too. Selena and I also need the same attention that Gina gets, so I beg you not to constantly differentiate your attention on the three of us. Selena and I are also girls, just like Gina who you spoiled so much," said Rosa at length with teary eyes, she was right -really fed up with what Gina got. "And what happened to Gina was an accident, if Selena did it on purpose she could have splashed the hot sauce on Gina’s face. But she didn’t do that, did she?"

Silence.

There was no answer, either from Julian, Barbara or Yohanes Sanders. The three people just stared at Rosa without blinking.

While Selena, who was sitting next to Rosa smiled faintly, she couldn’t believe her sister was able to talk like that.

From the second floor, Vanessa, who just came out of Gina’s room and intends to take medicine in the first aid box, stopped her steps when she heard her daughter’s words from the first floor. An evil smile immediately crossed Vanessa’s face.

"Good, Rosa. You really make Mommy proud," she said quietly before finally leaving the place to resume her acting as a kind-hearted stepmother to Gina, an angelic stepmother who protects her stepdaughter more than her biological daughter. .

"What I have experienced is nothing, Gina, after this I will make sure your life will be full of bad luck." Vanessa thought to herself while squeezing a soft towel that she took from the first aid kit as she walked back to Gina’s room, where Gina is currently in the bathroom taking off her jeans that were already wet with the soup that Selena spilled.
