Chapter 70: Who are you?

"Thank you dear, thank you for making Grandma so happy."

Gezz, the grandmother’s words made Gina’s daydream shattered. All the fun things that had just happened in her imagination disappeared, even though she had been very happy to be able to curse at her grandfather a moment ago.

"If you’re full you can rest, we know you must be tired today," Barbara said again after releasing her arms from Gina’s body.

"So can I rest first?"

"Of course, there’s no prohibition against that." From her chair, Vanessa suddenly replied to Gina’s words.

Barbara smiled at her daughter-in-law’s words. "You heard what your Mommy said, didn’t you? That’s right up there."

Gina widened her smile, because she had gotten Gina’s permission and then rushed up to her room leaving everyone still at the dining table.

Seeing Gina getting privileges like that, Selena and Rosa looked at each other for a few seconds with their older brother Diego, the three children really didn’t like the presence of Gina who had started to become the center of attention of everyone in the house. Even though for years they had been the granddaughter of Yohanes Sanders, this was the first time they saw Yohanes silent when someone left the table when dinner was not finished.

However, because they did not want to make a fuss, the three children finally remained silent and chose the right time to make calculations with Gina.

"Shhh..." 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

Gina who was walking towards the room was suddenly stopped by someone who had been waiting for her for a long time behind the wall.

"Marco," Gina muttered quietly.

"Come here.." Marco said holding out his hand. The man’s face was so flat that it made Gina feel reluctant to approach him.

"Come here, Gina..." Marco said back because Gina was silent. This time Marco’s voice was a little high pitched with a hint of command tucked into his words.

After taking a deep breath, Gina finally moved to take Marco’s hand a little lazily.

"What is wrong?"

"Shut up, I’ll take you somewhere nice."

Gina raised an eyebrow. "Wait, you’re talkative?! Wasn’t it just you who was noisy, not me?"

Marco, who was pulling Gina into a hallway that was unfamiliar to Gina, was silent, it seemed that the waiter really wanted to take Gina to a secret place.

After walking for almost 10 minutes they finally arrived, there was no room or other way except to have to turn around to get out of that place. Gina herself almost scolded Marco if he hadn’t pushed the painting that hung in front of them.

"Marco..this..."

"Shh...don’t make noise!"

Like a child Gina immediately covered her lips quickly with both hands, she could only be silent and obedient when Marco took her into the room behind the painting.

Behind the painting there is a long road that only one person can pass with a slight bow, Gina, who is afraid of insects, has a firm grip on Marco’s clothes. She mentioned Marco’s name several times when she heard the sound of a mouse.

Marco himself, who had been using his cell phone for lighting, could only stay silent when several times Gina screamed in surprise from the sound of rats, Gina’s suffering was finally over when they arrived at a door that was directly connected to the currently quite busy night market.

"Night market?"

"Yes."

"How did you know about that secret passage, Marco?" Gina wondered.

Marco smiled. "First you better let go of your grip on mine, because now my hands are numb and secondly clean your body first from the cobwebs that stick to it. I’m afraid there are poisonous spiders that will inject your body so that you turn into a spider woman and ..."

"Marco!!!"

Marco burst out laughing as Gina screamed.

Gina herself, who was not aware that she was still clutching Marko’s arm, immediately let go of him along with a loud scream when they mentioned the cobwebs stuck to his clothes.

"Already?"

Gina snorted. "I’m mad at you, I don’t want to talk to you."

"Really? But I have these delicious churros, you know..."

Hearing the name of the churros, Gina immediately turned around and tried to grab the churros in Marco’s hands, but Marco, who had managed to figure out what Gina was going to do, had already lifted the churros high so that Gina had a hard time reaching him.

"That sucks!" Gina squealed in annoyance when she gave up.

Marco chuckled. "I got these churros with great difficulty, Miss. So I have to enjoy them first, that’s why you have to queue."

Gina who had looked away then turned back to look at Marco. "What’s so hard... eh. Wait how and when can you buy those churros?" Gina asked confused when she saw the churros seller closest to them was currently filled with buyers who were queuing up.

"I bought it for twice the normal price, so the merchant gave it to me as soon as I paid him," Marco replied proudly.

"Tsk, you cheated and are you proud of that?" Gina asked sarcastically.

"Not really, I’m just doing a little bit smarter than those buyers, Miss."

"Ah you, you can find an excuse. I’m tired, I want to sit down!" Gina immediately ran to a chair not far from where they were standing as soon as they finished talking, leaving Marco who was still deliberately teasing Gina with the churros in his hands.

Seeing Gina sitting, Marco finally did the same thing.

"You want?"

Gina shook her head. "I don’t want to eat food bought in such an improper way."

"Isn’t that right?"

"Yes, that’s not true, you bought it at a higher price than the usual churros until you finally managed to get churros faster than other buyers. That’s an evil name," Gina answered flatly.

"Gosh that’s all you’re saying, you’re exaggerating," Marco said in surprise. "Well if you don’t want it I’ll eat it myself, then."

Gina stopped herself from laughing when she saw Marco eating two churros at once greedily, it seemed the words he had just said offended Marco and Gina didn’t regret it. She was actually happy to see what Marco was doing now.

"Oh yeah, I wonder how you know the secret passage? Aren’t you a new maid working at my family’s house, huh?"

Couch...couch...

The question Gina asked managed to choke Marco, he didn’t expect to get such a sudden question from Gina at this time.

Unable to bear to see Marco keep coughing, Gina went to the mineral water seller. Luckily she had money in her pocket, so she could pay for the drink she had taken.

"Drink." Gina held out a bottle of mineral water to Marco.

Without speaking Marco then grabbed the mineral water and drank it, what the hell. 600 ml of water runs out in one gulp, is he a real camel or a human?

"Why? Is there something on your face?" Marco asked innocently.

Gina shook her head. "Nothing, I’m just surprised to see someone can drink that much water in one gulp. You’re not descended from camels, are you?"

"Fuck, you think I’m a monster?!"

Gina burst out laughing, she burst out laughing at Marco’s very funny words. Seeing Gina laugh, Marco laughed too, the two of them made fun of each other even more which finally made them both laugh out loud again.

Gina wiped the tears that came out of the corners of her eyes from laughing too much, Marco turned out to have a humorous side that was quite fun.

"I’m glad to see you can laugh like this, when you’re hanging out with your family members you look very depressed," Marco said quietly.

Gina smiled. "It’s not that I’m depressed, I’m just uncomfortable. I feel that my presence is not wanted in the house, especially by my stepsisters."

"What you are experiencing right now is natural, Cinderella."

Gina immediately raised an eyebrow. "Cinderella?"

"Yes, Cinderella. A small children’s tale that tells about the cruel treatment of her mother and step-sister who only wants Ella’s father’s property after Ella’s mother’s death."

Gina chuckled. "Unfortunately Cinderella’s life is much happier and luckier than mine, since childhood Cinderella has lived happily with her father and mother. While I am not, I am not wanted by my father’s family. Even until my mother died they would not know if I did not come to this country." Gina’s voice trembled slightly when discussing her sad story.

Silence

Marco fell silent when Gina finished speaking, he felt bad when Gina had discussed his painful life.

Regret is also welling up in Marco’s chest at this time for accidentally equating Gina with the story of Cinderella, a girl who is oppressed but happy with the prince.

"But." Gina spoke again. "Now that I can accept everything, I’m sure my mother is happy up there by God’s side."

"I think so too," Marco said quietly.

Gina smiled, suddenly she turned to look at Marco sharply. "You, why divert the conversation earlier. Quickly answer the question I gave earlier!!"

Marco was surprised. "What kind of question is that?"

Gina immediately raised her hand, pointing at a secret door that was neatly hidden behind the grass that surrounded the large wall of the Sanders house that she had previously used to exit.

"Regarding that secret passage, how could a servant who’s only worked for a few months know about it. Tell me, who are you really?"
