His soul-Chapter 494: Morning Sickness
After vomiting all the contents of her stomach, Gina guided Selena and Rosa to the side yard to sunbathe. Enjoy the healthy morning sun.
"Much better?" Selena asked worriedly.
Gina nodded slowly, too weak to open her now bitter and sour mouth. Vomiting was one of the things she hated the most now.
"Good, then close your eyes. Let this healthy sunlight restore your freshness," said Selena excitedly.
Gina moved her head again slowly, the drowsiness began to attack her. It took too much energy to spit out her stomach contents, making Gina exhausted now. Rosa, who had been silent for a long time, then touched Selena’s shoulder, whispering a few words which Selena agreed without arguing. Not long after that, Selena and Rosa rushed away from where Gina was lying. They wanted to let Gina rest comfortably.
Gradually, a red hue returned to Gina’s face, which was previously as white as paper. Doctor Olivia advice worked, Gina looks much better after basking in the morning sun which is emitting its best rays. Some of the maids who had previously helped Selena and Rosa take care of Gina were seen coming out with plates of fruit and other healthy foods and a glass of fresh milk. As usual, after Gina vomited the maids would bring her fresh, healthy and highly nutritious food to replace the food that Gina had vomited before, they had to keep Gina’s strength awake so she wouldn’t faint like a few days ago.
"Shouldn’t we call doctor Olivia, Rosa?" Selena asked Rosa softly in a worried tone.
"Call doctor Olivia, what for?"
"Yes, to check on Gina, I can’t bear to see her keep throwing up like that. I’m so sorry," said Selena quietly. "I’ve heard of anti-nausea drugs for pregnant women that can..."
"Gina refuses to take such drugs, Selena."
Selena’s eyebrows rose. "What do you mean?"
"Gina firmly told doctor Olivia that she didn’t need that kind of medicine, Gina said that she was pregnant, not sick, so she didn’t need medicine. What Gina took from doctor Olivia’s prescription was only various vitamins, not a single drug," Rosa answered quietly without taking her eyes off Gina who had just eaten the fruit.
"Gosh... that kid is so stubborn, isn’t she really tired of throwing up like that?"
Rose smiled. "That’s her choice, Selena. And we can’t force her, and after all, Doctor Olivia doesn’t have a problem with Gina’s decision. Doctor Olivia is actually happy with Gina’s choice."
"Eh?"
"That means Gina is still herself."
"Rose!" Selena rebuked loudly, while hitting Rosa’s upper arm quite hard. "Speak clearly, I don’t understand what you mean. Don’t use terms I don’t understand!"
Instead of being angry because she had just been hit by Selena, Rosa actually smiled a little as if mocking Selena.
Selena, already provoked by emotion, was ready to launch her second punch at Rosa if Rosa didn’t immediately give her the cell phone. "What do you mean give me your cell phone?"
"Read it, in this cell phone you will get answers to your questions," answered Rosa softly.
"Read where? Do I know what..."
Selena’s words stopped when Rosa showed a group chat containing doctor Olivia, doctors Dorothea and Rosa. Selena, who was curious then read one by one the writings in the group, after five minutes had passed Selena lifted her face and glared at Rosa.
"So..."
"Yes, basically Doctor Dorothea supports Gina’s decision not to take medication. This gives a sign to all of us that Gina still remembers the presence of the baby in her stomach, or in other words Gina doesn’t show any signs of depression. Gina’s mental condition is really weak right now and it seems that the baby is Gina’s only inner strength to survive, that’s why Doctor Olivia agreed to Gina’s request not to take medicine," said Rosa at length, explaining the essence of the conversation in the chat group. that was just shown to Selena.
Selena’s lips opened wide in the shape of a big O, her gaze was immediately fixed on Gina who was trying to drink milk, assisted by a maid.
"Gina..."
"That’s why we have to support all of her decisions, remember doctor Dorothea message yesterday, Selena. What Gina needs is our support, her family. To be able to rise and survive all of this," said Rosa again.
"Gina will definitely survive," Selena mumbled quietly. "Gina is a strong girl."
Rosa nodded her head with a smile, feeling that Gina had calmed down. Rosa finally invited Selena to come into the house for breakfast. Since morning taking care of Gina, they haven’t eaten, even though it’s already nine o’clock in the morning. Not wanting to get sick, Selena also followed Rosa’s invitation to eat. At this time they could leave Gina who was accompanied by several maids who were ready to take care of Gina.
"I want ice cream, do you have ice cream at home?"
"Ice cream? What ice cream do you want, Miss?"
Gina narrowed her eyes, trying to think and considering what ice cream to enjoy. Gina hasn’t enjoyed ice cream in a long time, so right now she’s confused about making a choice. After thinking for a while Gina shook her head slowly with a sad face.
"I can’t choose," Gina answered hoarsely. "Do you have any recommendations?"
"Ice cream with matcha flavor is popular right now, Miss. Are you interested in trying it?"
"Matcha flavor, huh." Gina muttered under her breath, considering a suggestion from one of her maids. "But I don’t really like the taste of matcha."
"How about chocolate, miss?" Another maid immediately recommended another flavor.
Gina nodded slowly. "Chocolate is too sweet, I could throw up instantly."
"How about vanilla?"
Just like before, Gina shook her head again. Even though Gina used to like ice cream with vanilla flavor, this time Gina refused it, pregnancy really brought a drastic change to Gina.
The three maids who were still very patient then mentioned the other flavor variants of ice cream at home, but nothing that appealed to Gina’s taste buds had mentioned. Until finally Gina surprisingly yawned in between her conversation with the three maids, after her stomach was filled with food and fresh milk, drowsiness began to attack Gina. Gina, who initially wanted to enjoy ice cream, decided to sleep, her sleepiness was too strong to resist.
When Gina started to close her eyes, the three maids who had spoken previously closed their lips. They didn’t want to disturb the lady with their voices, when they felt that Gina was asleep, the three maids then continued their respective duties, starting from tidying up Gina’s plates, covering Gina’s body to adjusting the position of the large umbrella that was installed on the chair where Gina was lying so that she could still covering Gina’s face. The maids really did their job well, knowing the bad luck that received one of their ladies made the maids do their job well.
***
Gina had just returned to her room after sunbathing in the garden for almost an hour and a half, it was the nausea that was churning in her stomach that had awakened Gina from her comfortable sleep a few moments ago. No doubt, Gina immediately vomited back the food she had previously eaten. Until finally her stomach was empty again.
"Want to throw up again?"
Gina shook her head. "No," Gina answered softly as she touched her head which suddenly hurt.
"Are you ok, Gina?" Selena asked worriedly, seeing how pale Gina’s face was now making the food in Selena’s stomach feel like it wanted to come out again.
Rosa who noticed Gina’s changes then rushed to do a basic check on Gina, Rosa checked Gina’s pulse, which felt weak.
"How?" Selena asked in a whisper to Rosa who seemed to be thinking.
Rosa looked up at Selena. "Looks like Gina needs to be reinfused again."
"Infusion? Why? Isn’t Gina fine?" Selena asked frantically, in Selena’s head the word IV was a dangerous thing.
Rosa, who felt compelled to act quickly ignored Selena’s question, by running Rosa out of Gina’s room and rushing into her room to get the IV bottle and other equipment she kept in her room. In a short time Rosa returned to Gina’s room with a large bag of medical supplies that doctor Olivia gave to her just in case, Selena who was sitting by the bed rushed away from the bed, letting Rosa work. Gina’s current pale face scared Selena to death.
Five minutes after Rosa put the IV needle on the back of Gina’s hand, Gina’s face gradually improved. Her breathing had also become more regular, although the cold sweat was still pouring down her forehead.
"How?" Selena asked again, not understanding the medical world made Selena talk a lot.
Rosa took a deep breath, looking relieved. "Luckily doctor Olivia provided an IV for Gina at home, otherwise we might have to take her to the hospital now for serious treatment."
"That bad?" Selena spoke again.
"It seems Gina has hyperemesis gravidarum," Rosa said hoarsely
"Hyperemesis gravidarum, what else is that?"
"Hyperemesis gravidarum is the medical term for severe morning sickness. This condition can cause complications, such as dehydration, electrolyte disturbances, and nutritional deficiencies, which can harm the fetus. The exact cause of severe nausea during pregnancy is not known. This condition is thought to be related to changes hormones that occur during pregnancy. In particular, a hormone called human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG), is suspected to be the cause because this condition mainly occurs when HCG is at the highest level in the pregnant woman’s body, "said Rosa slowly explaining one of the medical terms that commonly affects a woman is pregnant with Selena, actually Rosa also only found out about this a few days ago after doctor Olivia explained the condition of Gina’s pregnancy to her.
Selena’s eyes were wide open, it was clear that the great fear in those green eyes was visible. "Jesus... Then what should we do? Will the baby be in trouble if Gina continues like this?"
"I will discuss this matter with Doctor Olivia and Doctor Dorothea first, I can’t decide what is the right course of action for Gina. I’m not an obstetrician, so I can’t make decisions on my own." Rosa answered slowly the question that was asked by Selena again.
"Yes, do it now."
Rosa raised an eyebrow, looking confused by Selena’s last words. "What do you mean?"
Selena stomped one foot on the floor firmly. "Ish you, didn’t you say you should talk to Doctor Olivia and Doctor Dorothea about Gina’s condition first, didn’t you? Please call them, so we can provide good care for Gina."
"Oh yes," Rosa stammered.
Selena, who was excited to see how slow Rosa was, grabbed her sister’s hand and forced her out of Gina’s room. "Call the doctors quickly, then come back to this room. I’ll take care of Gina for a while."
Rosa, who didn’t expect to get such treatment from Selena, was silent for a moment, her eyes blinking at her in disbelief at Selena, who looked very worried about Gina.
"What are you waiting for?" fierce Selena couldn’t wait.
Rosa raised her hands in the air. "My phone? My cellphone is in Gina’s room."
Without speaking, Selena rushed into Gina’s room and took Rosa’s cellphone which was on the nightstand. After getting the cellphone that Rosa meant, Selena immediately ran to Rosa and returned the cellphone to her. "Hurry up there..hushhh."
Rosa just chuckled amused at Selena’s behavior, because she got a killing stare from Selena, Rosa finally immediately contacted the two doctors who handled Gina. Rosa chose to return to her room to get a calm atmosphere while talking to the two specialists.
From the bed, Gina smiled a little at the debate between her two sisters. After getting the IV, Gina felt much better. The headache that had previously plagued her is now gradually disappearing.
"Why are you smiling? Anything funny?" Selena’s voice sounded harsh rebuking Gina who was smiling.
Gina’s smile grew wider, she slowly raised her hands in the air. Asked Selena to come closer to her, saw Gina using her hand that was attached to the IV quickly. Selena ran to Gina.
"Are you insane? You have an IV in your hand, you can’t move your hand, Gina!" Selena rebuked hard.
"Thanks Selena," Gina said softly. "Thank you for taking good care of me, I owe you a lot."
Selena, who looked angry, immediately closed her lips tightly, the words that Gina had just said pierced her chest.
"I’m lucky to have you as my sister, Selena," Gina said back.
"Stop....don’t talk anymore, Gina. Don’t say those words, I don’t deserve your thanks." With a trembling voice, Selena answered Gina’s words.
"Selena..."
"I should be the one thanking you, Gina. I should be the one saying those words, not you," said Selena loudly cutting Gina’s words. "If seven years ago you didn’t come, m-maybe I’m in your current position. Maybe I’m the one who’s sober...I’m sorry, Gina. I’m sorry for all my rude behavior to you so far..."
