His soul-Chapter 490: Family come first
Diego’s presence in the hospital made Gina’s feelings even more mixed, all feelings coming together, gathering in her chest. Feelings of sadness, happiness, anger, disappointment and shame.
Seeing all her family members busy, Gina felt sad. She felt guilty for making all her family members share her hardships, in her heart Gina began to regret her decision to go to the supermarket yesterday morning. If yesterday she had stayed in her apartment maybe she wouldn’t have met Rosa and all this mess wouldn’t have happened, her family would have lived in peace.
Warm tears began to fall, down Gina’s cheeks still a little pale and Diego who was talking to Charlie accidentally saw this. Instantly, Diego approached Gina.
"Why, Gina? Does your stomach hurt again? Is something bothering you?" Diego immediately bombarded Gina with several questions at once.
Gina shook her head. "I’m okay."
"Are you sure?" Diego again confirmed Gina’s words.
"What is it?" asked Rosa who had just finished talking to doctor Olivia.
"Nothing, Rosa," Gina answered quietly.
Rosa, who couldn’t believe it, immediately scanned Gina’s face and found the remaining tears on Gina’s face. "Did you just cry? Why? Does your stomach hurt again?" Rosa asked the same question as Diego.
Gina pursed her lips. "It’s okay, really. I’m fine, so is the baby," Gina replied back while feeling her stomach with her free hand from the IV needle. "I was yawning, that’s why I burst into tears." Gina tried to find a reasonable excuse so as not to make Diego and Rosa ask another question again, Gina still wasn’t ready to talk more. Her heart wasn’t ready.
Diego smiled, he knew that Gina was lying.
"Don’t fight it, Gina. If you’re sleepy then sleep," said Rosa softly. "Your body still needs a lot of recovery."
"Yes Rosa, I understand."
"Good." Rosa squeezed Gina’s hand gently. "Don’t worry, we’re all here to take care of you, all you need to do is rest so you can go home. You don’t want to be in the hospital all the time, do you?"
Gina shook her head quickly, her eyes looking worried.
Rosa chuckled amused at Gina’s attitude. "If you don’t want to then you have to follow all the doctor’s instructions."
"Listen to Rosa carefully, Gina. Later when you are at home, she will be your personal doctor," Diego said cheerfully, trying to melt Gina’s tension.
Rosa, who hasn’t decided to treat Gina yet, throws a punch at Diego’s shoulder which of course doesn’t give any pain to Diego who has a burly body, the result of years of training in the gym. "Don’t talk nonsense, I’m not a gynecologist. How can I treat Gina."
"But you’re a doctor, even though you’re not an obstetrician. At least you know how to treat Gina, compared to the rest of us," Diego said quietly.
Rosa understands where her brother’s conversation is going, of all her family members at home, she is the only one who understands the medical world.
"Wouldn’t it be better if you took care of Gina at home than you took care of the people at your senior clinic?" Diego spoke again, breaking Rosa’s daydream.
"I will discuss this matter with Doctor Olivia first," said Rosa seriously. "I have to ask for her approval, after all doctor Olivia is more competent to treat Gina because this is doctor Olivia’s field."
Diego nodded his head slowly. "Good, I know you can make wise decisions, Rosa. Remember one thing, family is number one. No matter what happens, family is the best support system that will always support you."
Finished speaking, Diego glanced at Gina who had been a good listener. Diego deliberately said that to disturb Gina’s mind. Diego wants to show Gina that he is the right person to rely on for her.
And the method taken by Diego worked, because Gina immediately lowered her head. Gina felt slapped by Diego’s words.
"I know, okay, let’s leave Gina. Gina must rest," said Rosa slowly while feeling Gina’s flat stomach, since knowing Gina was pregnant, Rosa became very happy. Her dream of being able to take care of a baby will come true, so far Rosa has not told anyone that her real desire is to become a pediatrician.
Diego smiled, without speaking he then turned around and walked over to Charlie who was waiting for him. Not long after Diego left, Rosa returned to the sofa to check the list of notes that contained everything Gina needed based on the conversation she had with doctor Olivia a moment ago. Rosa had to prepare everything before Gina went home, so she was currently doing a double check.
Julian and Selena, who had just returned from the administration room to take care of all the costs of Gina’s exclusive care, rejoined Rosa and Diego who had been assigned to look after Gina, Julian who didn’t want Gina’s pregnancy to be known. Massimo severely restricted access to the floor where Gina was being treated. Therefore he decided to rent the entire floor just in case the worst was not expected.

Because Gina’s condition improved, after dinner, Doctor Olivia gave permission for Gina to be taken home. Rosa has also received permission from doctor Olivia to monitor Gina’s condition, doctor Olivia wants Rosa to give her the slightest development about Gina while at home. And Rosa, who has not yet decided to return to work at the hospital, is very happy to be given such trust by doctor Olivia.
"Be careful," said Julian for the umpteenth time to Diego who was carrying Gina, moving her from the wheelchair into the car. "Slow down, son. Make sure Gina lies down on her special pillow."
"Daddy." Selena touched Julian’s shoulder gently. "Don’t worry, Diego knows what to do too."
"Yeah, Diego is not that stupid, Dad," said Rosa amused, seeing how worried her father was to make Rosa’s mischievous soul suddenly appear.
"Rosa," growled Julian. "Don’t talk nonsense, Diego your brother!"
Rosa smiled widely without a sound, showing a row of white teeth at her father who looked a little annoyed. Meanwhile, Selena didn’t say anything, she didn’t want to make her father even more worried if she followed Rosa’s words. Selena knew that Rosa was trying to neutralize her father’s tension.
The frown on Julian’s face disappeared as he watched Gina manage to sit well in the car, Diego doing a very good job. Gina managed to sit in the car very well, the special pillow doctor Olivia had given her made Gina look very comfortable right now.
Not wanting to linger in the hospital, Julian rushed into the car to join Diego who was already sitting beside Gina. Selena and Rosa followed later and Charlie was the last person to get into the car before the limousine finally left the hospital basement to go home to the Sanders family.
All the way home Gina was the only person not involved in the heated argument between Julian, Selena, Rosa and Diego. The four of them were discussing room layouts for Gina, Julian and Diego wanted Gina to move downstairs so they could all get to Gina more easily. While Rosa and Selena still want Gina to be on the second floor, Rosa, who was assigned by Doctor Olivia to continue to monitor Gina’s condition, objected if Gina was moved to the first floor. The reason is, if Gina’s room is moved, she also has to change rooms and Rosa is very reluctant to leave her very comfortable room.
"Gina’s just bleeding, Rosa. Daddy won’t take the risk if she’s on the second floor, it’ll be very dangerous if she has to go up and down stairs."
"Right." Diego immediately replied to his stepfather’s words without guilt.
"Gina’s condition is stable, Dad," Selena said curtly, not wanting to lose. "Gina is pregnant, not sick so stop treating her like a sick person. Gina needs to move to work all her muscles and that’s good for her pregnancy too."
"Don’t act like you know, Selena. You’re not a gynecologist," Julian grumbled in annoyance.
"I’m not a doctor, but I know how to manage a healthy lifestyle. Years of being a model made me know what is good and what is not good for the body," said Selena curtly.
"Yeah but..."
"Selena’s right, Dad," Rosa said quietly. "Gina needs a lot of activity and fresh air and circulation in Gina’s room which is on the second floor supports that."
"But what about the stairs, Gina just..." 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
"I’m not that weak, Dad." Gina, who had been holding back from getting involved in the debate, finally spoke up. "Even if it seems I’m still strong if I have to run around the existing park..."
"Don’t be crazy, Gina!"
"Don’t mess around, Gina!!"
"You’re still sane, aren’t you?"
"Are you serious?!"
Julian, Diego, Rosa and Selena screamed loudly almost simultaneously, their faces clearly showing anger.
Gina bit her lower lip, trying to hold back the laugh that tickled her so much. Seeing the response of all her family members made Gina want to laugh out loud.
Diego, who was closest to Gina immediately brought his face closer to Gina. "You didn’t mean what you said earlier, did you?"
"Of course not, Diego. Am I crazy? Out of the five of us, the only one who is still sane is me," Gina answered quietly, holding back laughter.
Gina’s words again made all of her family members look at her sharply without blinking, even though Gina’s words were a little spicy but they all knew that Gina didn’t say it seriously. They knew very well what Gina was feeling right now, remembering how last night Gina cried in her sleep.
"Well, then Gina’s room will still be on the second floor." Julian took a deep breath. "On a note, you two should be monitoring Gina’s condition seriously. Especially you, Rosa. You’ve been given the responsibility by Doctor Olivia."
Rose nodded slowly. "Yes Dad, I understand."
Because it was almost home, they did not continue the conversation anymore. Everyone’s focus returned to Gina, Gina who felt able to get out of the car herself actually wanted to refuse Diego’s help. Gina feels a little uncomfortable being in another man’s arms, even though currently her status is divorced from Massimo and is free to be close to anyone, Gina feels she still has to keep her distance from any man, including Diego. Because after all she and Diego are not related by blood and Gina is aware of it.
However, because at this time he couldn’t do much. Gina had to surrender when Diego returned to carry her.
"I’m heavy?"
Diego, who was concentrating on climbing the stairs lowered his head, looking at Gina who was in his arms. "No, who said?"
"How can I not be heavy, I weigh more than forty kilos," said Gina shyly, weight is one of the things that Gina pays attention to when she is with Massimo. Gina, who is always afraid of being abandoned by Massimo, tries to keep her body ideal, but after all that, in the end, Massimo still leaves her. Gina’s chest immediately felt tight at the memory.
Diego smiled. "Forty pounds is nothing to me, in the gym I’m even used to lifting more than ninety pounds, Gina."
"Is that true?" asked Gina in awe.
"Yeah, if you don’t believe me you can watch me practice."
Gina shook her head. "I don’t like to work out in the gym, I prefer to work out in the open. The air is fresher."
"Try it once, I’m sure you’ll like it." Diego again convinces Gina, he wants to show Gina the beauty of his body. One thing Diego has always wanted to do.
"Okay, I’ll give it a try."
Diego smiled slightly at Gina’s words, because he had arrived on the second floor, Diego rushed to Gina’s room which had been prepared for Gina by the servants. Even though Gina actually had another room that she had shared with Massimo, Gina chose her old room as her new room at this time and Gina’s decision to choose her old room had made Diego a little annoyed because he had removed the CCTV camera in that room. Even if the CCTV was still installed in the room, maybe Diego could see a lot of fun activities that Gina was doing there. Akh Diego, you will be able to get many of those opportunities from now on. Your barrier is gone.
