His soul-Chapter 162: Julian’s hope
As long as Julian and Patrick were talking Gina was really good listeners, she didn’t interrupt their conversation at all. Gina felt uncomfortable after seeing the wedding photo of her father and stepmother hanging on the wall with a very large size and in the end Julian could feel Gina’s discomfort near him.
"Gina," Julian called hoarsely.
Gina looked directly at her father with a lazy look.
Julian smiled wryly to get such disapproving looks from his daughter. "Take it easy, honey. Daddy won’t let you sacrifice for this family by going to that man, Daddy swears."
"Sacrifices for the family? What does that mean?" Patrick asked, confused.
"Daddy is discussing the agreement grandpa made with Marius del Cano, Uncle," Gina answered flatly without changing her expression.
Patrick immediately turned to Gina quickly. "Marius del Cano? Isn’t he—"
"Massimo del Cano’s grandfather."
"Well yes, but wait. What agreement did you have to sacrifice, Gina?" Patrick asked again.
Gina pursed her lips. "I don’t know what the details are, what is clear in the agreement is that Grandpa promised one of his descendants to the del Cano clan and since I am the eldest daughter in this family then I will be the one to carry out the task. Be the woman of Massimo del Cano."
"Fuck no...no, I don’t agree. You don’t want it, Gina. That guy is mentally ill, he’s a dangerous guy. You’re too precious to that guy, no...uncle disagrees and you’re for you Julian better think again. Because if you insist on doing that then you have to pass my life first, I will never let you sacrifice my goddaughter," Patrick said fiercely as he changed seats and immediately wrapped his arms around Gina’s shoulders.
Julian looked up at the beautiful ceiling of his room. "I wouldn’t be that crazy either, Patrick. I’m still sane and aware I’d rather lose everything than sacrifice my daughter. My beloved daughter with Sandra."
"Then prove it!"
"Eh?"
Patrick smiled. "Didn’t you say it was better to lose it all, didn’t you? Well prove it, don’t just talk."
"I really, really want to do that, Patrick. But no way, I have other children too. I have Selena and Rosa to think about, I can’t just let Massimo del Cano take over all my family’s resorts and hotels. just like that. I will be branded as a failed father, not only for Gina for not being able to provide a proper place to live for her but for my other children," answered Julian hoarsely, his eyes welling with tears as he spoke.
Patrick narrowed his eyes at Julian’s condition, he knew that his best friend wasn’t playing with his words. Patrick slowly removed his hand from Gina’s shoulder and returned to Julian who was still sitting on his big bed.
"Tell me the details, without hiding anything," Patrick asked quietly.
Julian slowly lifted his face and looked at Gina who was still sitting far from him, it was obvious from the look in his eyes that he wanted Gina to sit next to him like Patrick did. Patrick, who understood Julian’s wishes, gave Gina a code to sit closer.
Although at first Gina objected, in the end she moved to a seat beside her godfather, right next to her biological father’s bed who looked at him tenderly.
After Gina sat next to Patrick, Julian told him everything from the beginning, Julian discussed the decades-old agreement in front of Gina and Patrick again. Gina crumpled the hem of her dress when her father said the worst consequences would be if he didn’t comply with Massimo del Cano’s request, while Patrick was seen ruffling his already neat hair as soon as he heard everything from Julian.
"That’s why I have to find another way, now I understand why Daddy used to keep the agreement very well. Apparently Daddy doesn’t want something like this to happen," said Julian softly with a trembling voice.
Patrick immediately grabbed Julian’s hand and squeezed it tightly. "Doesn’t the agreement apply to Selena? Not to Gina? But why has he chosen Gina now?"
Julian shook his head. "I also don’t know and what’s even weirder now is Selena, the girl was told from the start that she was going to be arranged for Massimo del Cano flatly refused. In fact, she often fights with Daddy because of this, but since Massimo came her attitude has changed 180 degrees. Selena doesn’t refuse anymore, she’s really excited and ready to leave at any moment if Massimo calls her."
Patrick smiled disdainfully. "Your one daughter is naughty, Julian. Just like her mother, of course she is very excited."
"Uncle."
Patrick immediately turned to Gina. "What Uncle said is true, my dear. You are different from her, no girl would happily and willingly be betrothed to a crooked bastard like Massimo del Cano. treats women like clothes. He can throw them away whenever he’s bored.
Julian smirked. "Whatever it is, Selena is still my daughter, Patrick. She’s still my flesh and blood just like Gina."
"Ok..ok...I was wrong, so what’s the conclusion? Didn’t you say that Selena wanted an arranged marriage with Massimo, then where is the problem?" Patrick went back to discussing the agreement that Julian was discussing.
"The problem Massimo wants is Gina not Selena," Julian answered hoarsely, his sad eyes looking at Gina with regret.
"Fuck. ..that bastard is really insolent. He knows who’s a good girl and who’s . . . "
"Uncle." Gina interrupted Patrick gently. "Selena is my sister, Uncle. Uncle, don’t keep insulting her like that."
Patrick smiled at Gina’s words. "Uncle isn’t insulting, uncle is speaking facts. You wouldn’t believe it if you knew what your sister’s wild life was like."
"Selena’s still young, Uncle."
"She’s only a year apart from you, but it doesn’t look like the difference between the two of you at all," Patrick said earnestly.
Julian pursed his lips. "I won’t let Gina go to Massimo either, Patrick. You don’t have to worry, I’ll think of another way to solve this problem."
"How?" Patrick asked quickly.
"It hasn’t occurred to me right now, but I’m sure I’ll sort it out myself without sacrificing my kids or my family. I’m the head of this family now, so I have to take responsibility," answered Julian determinedly.
Patrick rubbed his aching forehead. "Your family is truly magical, trouble, trouble and trouble is everything. I would have been mad if I were you, Julian."
"I was pleased with these problems, "said Julian quietly with a smile.
"What do you mean? "Asked Patrick quickly.
"Maybe this is the answer from the Lord who wants me to be as soon as possible to meet Sandra and apologize to her in person."
"Julian!!!"
"Daddy!!!"
