His Mute Wife: He Can't Sleep After She Left-Chapter 60: Missing
Miles Goodman took Kiana Sutton to the nearest private hospital, and as she entered the surgery room, his face was full of worry and fear.
Having run too fast, his chest heaved up and down, and his hair was soaked with sweat.
He never thought the girl he had been searching for would appear before him in such a manner.
Oh God...
Please, you must ensure little cutie is alright!
If not, he... he’ll become a monk.
Why is it that every time he encounters her, she’s always in such a terrible state?
Who exactly is she?
What has she been through all these days?
Fortunately, Kiana Sutton had great fortune, and two hours later, she was brought out from the surgery room.
Miles Goodman exhaled deeply and immediately arranged a VIP ward for Kiana Sutton.
Miles kept staring at Kiana; her cheeks and corners of her mouth were bruised, clearly treated inhumanely before he hit her.
That beast dared to harm such a cute girl!
If he got ahold of him, he’d see how he tortures him to death!
Miles carefully held Kiana’s hand, "Little cutie, this time, I absolutely won’t let you disappear from my sight again."
No matter what little cutie had suffered in the past, since God let them meet again, he swore to guard her tightly from now on.
...
Kate Lynch woke up for only a few minutes before slipping back into a coma.
Ethan Sinclair stayed by her side until dawn, not witnessing her wake up again.
The Lynches all arrived at the hospital, having not slept a wink all night, each more haggard than the last.
Angus Lynch approached Ethan Sinclair, "Ethan, the fact that Kate regained consciousness for a few minutes is already great news for us; it’s uncertain when she’ll wake up next. You should go home and rest."
Ethan Sinclair looked deeply at Kate Lynch lying in the hospital bed; her cheeks were thin and pale, consequences of a long time bedridden.
Fortunately, she finally woke up, relieving a bit of the guilt that had burdened him for three years.
Suddenly, his phone rang; seeing it was a call from Quinn Sinclair, Ethan nodded to Angus Lynch before stepping out of the room to answer.
"What’s up?"
"Bro, did Kate really wake up?"
Normally, at this hour, Quinn Sinclair would still be lazing in bed. She woke up needing to use the bathroom and couldn’t help but check her phone.
Oh my, her social media was flooded with news of Kate waking up last night.
Quinn was worried for Kiana Sutton, so she messaged her on WeChat, anxiously waiting for two minutes with no reply, and upon calling her, the phone was unexpectedly turned off.
"Since when did you care so much about Kate?"
"I don’t care about her! I’m worried about sis-in-law!"
At the mention of Kiana Sutton, Ethan Sinclair’s heart slightly sank.
Hearing Ethan’s silence, Quinn on the other end exploded, "Ethan Sinclair, don’t tell me, you didn’t even go look for sis-in-law yesterday, and instead left her to see Kate?"
"Getting bold?"
Seems like that’s exactly what happened!
If Ethan Sinclair wasn’t her brother, Quinn would have cursed him out without remorse!
"Ethan Sinclair, I’m telling you, sis-in-law’s phone is off. Chelsea Chapman said she didn’t come home last night; you can dislike her, but if something happens to her, I’m cutting ties with you!!!"
After yelling, Quinn angrily hung up.
As the busy tone rang in his ear, Ethan Sinclair was momentarily dazed. The next second, he hurriedly walked toward the hospital entrance while calling Connor Grant.
Kiana Sutton disappeared.
Chelsea Chapman saw Kiana dressed so beautifully to go on a date with Ethan Sinclair, imagining they had spent a romantic night together.
Never expected Ethan didn’t meet Kiana at all.
Ethan headed straight to the Ozone Restaurant; when pulling the surveillance, he learned from the staff that Kiana waited for him until past midnight before leaving.
Feeling both agitated and uneasy, Ethan’s face turned strikingly grim.
Once the surveillance was reviewed, they quickly located the taxi driver.
Connor Grant kicked open the driver’s door, seeing him in red shorts rummaging through Kiana Sutton’s bag, even finding her phone.
Connor marched up and punched the man hard in the face, grabbing his collar and shouting, "Where’s the owner of this bag? What did you do to her?"
The driver’s nose, freshly bandaged, bled again from Connor’s punch; he covered it, cursing, "Who are you? Do you know this is trespassing? I’ll call the police!"
Wearing black gloves, Ethan Sinclair gently picked up Kiana’s phone, feeling a suffocating pain in his chest.
"Where is Kiana Sutton?"
His voice was cold and icy, and the hostility around him scared the man greatly, "I... I don’t know..."
Ethan subtly signaled Connor, who knowingly continued to punch and kick the man.
Connor’s punches were merciless; the man’s mouth and nose bled.
Facing death, the man burst into tears, begging for mercy, "I really don’t know, she... she was taken by some men in sports cars."
"Did you see the license plate?"
"I didn’t! It was so dark at night; how could I have seen it?"
"Then why are her bag and phone here with you?"
"I..."
"Speak! If you dare lie, I’ll end you!"
These people were clearly not to be messed with, especially the one in a black suit and gloves; better be honest and admit since he hadn’t succeeded.
"She looked pretty, and she was alone, so... but I absolutely didn’t succeed, she was too fierce, my nose was injured by her punches, also..."
The man was interrupted coldly by Ethan, "You should be grateful you didn’t succeed, or you’d already be a corpse! Connor Grant, take care of him!"
"Yes!"
After Ethan left, Connor gave the man a few more hits, "As a taxi driver, you should serve the people properly, yet you dared have such wicked thoughts. If you can’t control yourself, then it might as well not be there."
Connor ruthlessly stomped down, and the man’s screams echoed through the entire building.
Meanwhile, after being asleep for over ten hours, Kiana Sutton finally awoke.
Upon opening her eyes, pain coursed throughout her body.
As her memories returned, she suddenly remembered having an accident while fleeing.
And it seemed like this was a hospital!
Moving slightly, she felt someone holding her hand. Before seeing who it was, a man sleeping by the bedside suddenly jolted awake.
Two pairs of eyes met, one guarded and bewildered, the other elated and thrilled.
Miles Goodman excitedly embraced Kiana Sutton, "Little cutie, you’re finally awake!"
Kiana’s head felt fuzzy, the term "little cutie" seemed familiar, yet she couldn’t recall where she’d heard it before.
Being held by a stranger made her uncomfortable and uneasy, so she gently pushed him away.
She weakly gestured, "Who... are you? Where is this place?"
