His Mute Wife: He Can't Sleep After She Left-Chapter 41: Joshua Hit Ethan Sinclair
After breakfast, Kiana Sutton finally felt a bit better.
Even though she’d lost her perfect attendance bonus and was pretty upset about it, she still had to work.
The whole morning passed by quickly.
At noon, after having dinner in the cafeteria, Kiana returned to her desk to draw.
When she opened WeChat, she realized that only seven people had added her last night.
Damn you, Ethan Sinclair!
He’d actually lied to her this morning!
Because of him, she was late to work and lost her bonus!
He definitely did it on purpose, made sure she couldn’t get that five thousand bucks for perfect attendance.
Ugh, capitalists are all heartless bastards!
Kiana opened the WeChat messages from those people, checking out each of their requests.
Only the last one just added her, didn’t even say what they wanted.
Their profile picture was pure black, and the username was just two letters: "qq."
After finishing everyone else’s drawings, Kiana sent a WeChat message to "qq": "Hi, what would you like me to draw for you? Any requests?"
No reply. Kiana didn’t bother with it.
At that moment, Amy Manning walked in holding a huge bouquet of roses.
"Kiana, that guy named Miles Goodman sent you flowers again."
Kiana looked at the bright red roses, her head throbbing.
That Miles Goodman guy had been sent by Quinn Sinclair to "pursue" her.
Kiana was seriously starting to doubt Miles Goodman even existed—she was sure Quinn made him up as a fake suitor.
Kiana messaged Quinn: "Quinn, Ethan Sinclair couldn’t care less that someone’s chasing me. Can you please stop with this?"
"No way. Once an arrow’s been shot, you can’t take it back. And we haven’t made any real progress yet, my brother wouldn’t even notice. Don’t worry, just leave everything to me."
Leave it to her? Kiana was even less reassured.
She had a bad feeling—Quinn was definitely out to mess her up!
Since she’d lost her bonus, Kiana worked even harder on side gigs over the next few days.
Her body was exhausted, but she felt incredibly satisfied and fulfilled.
Ethan Sinclair hadn’t come home for several days, so Kiana finally got some rest.
That night, after dinner, Kiana went back to her room and continued drawing commissions.
She was so focused that she didn’t even notice someone had sent her a WeChat message.
Until her phone suddenly rang.
Kiana couldn’t speak, so people usually messaged or texted her—never called directly.
Seeing it was Quinn Sinclair calling, Kiana hesitated for two seconds before answering.
"Sis-in-law! Bad news! My brother got beat up by your brother!"
Kiana’s heart clenched. She wanted to ask where they were, but remembered she couldn’t speak.
Thankfully, Quinn seemed to know what she wanted. She said right away, "We’re at The Imperial Club, hurry over!"
Kiana’s mind was spinning. Joshua actually hit Ethan Sinclair?
How’d they even end up together?
No time to think. She quickly got dressed and rushed downstairs, flagged a taxi, and hurried to The Imperial Club.
As soon as Kiana reached the entrance, Quinn Sinclair was already waiting.
"Sis-in-law! Over here..."
Kiana frantically gestured, "Quinn, what happened?"
"Ugh, I’m not exactly sure. Looks like your brother suddenly came out of nowhere and punched my brother. He’s furious—never seen him look so scary."
Quinn had come here with friends. After drinking for a while and getting ready to hit the dance floor, she saw two bodyguards dragging a swearing teenage boy into a private room.
"That boy’s got guts—who the hell dares to hit the Fifth Master Sinclair? He’s asking for trouble."
"From what he was yelling, seemed like he was avenging his sister."
Hearing Ethan’s name, Quinn snuck over and peeked into the room. She hadn’t met Joshua Sutton before.
But Joshua had the same eyes and brows as Kiana—clearly siblings.
Thinking things could get nasty, Quinn quickly called Kiana.
As they talked, the two reached the door of the private room. Quinn led Kiana right in.
The air conditioning was blasting inside. The moment she stepped in, Kiana shivered uncontrollably.
She instantly spotted Joshua Sutton pinned by the bodyguards. His white shirt was crumpled and filthy, face all bruised, with a busted lip.
Joshua!
Kiana ran straight for Joshua.
Joshua was stunned to see Kiana. "Sis? What are you doing here?"
Kiana anxiously shook her head, cursing herself for being mute—couldn’t even say a word right now.
She tugged at the bodyguards’ arms, trying to make them let go of Joshua.
But Ethan Sinclair didn’t say anything, so the bodyguards shoved Kiana away without hesitation.
"Sis!"
"Sis-in-law!"
Quinn quickly caught Kiana, then glared coldly at the bodyguards. "Open your damn eyes and get it straight—she’s my sister-in-law, the Fifth Master’s wife!"
The bodyguards didn’t budge.
Quinn glared at Ethan. "Brother, let them go. Let sis-in-law’s brother off."
Ethan slouched lazily on the couch, one hand with a black glove swirling his drink absent-mindedly. The right side of his face was a big bruise—from Joshua’s punch.
His handsome face was hard to make out in the dim light, but the icy chill he threw off made everyone shudder.
"Mason, it’s getting late. Take Quinn home."
Quinn immediately protested, "No! Don’t think you can get rid of me and bully my sis-in-law. I..."
Before she could finish, Ethan’s chilly voice rang out, "I’ve let you get away with too much because you’re my sister. But don’t forget, this family isn’t yours to boss around."
Mason Kane saw Ethan getting angry and promptly dragged Quinn toward the door.
Quinn was scared of Ethan but hated leaving Kiana behind. "Brother, if Grandma finds out you bullied sis-in-law, she won’t let you off."
"Hah..."
Ethan curled his lip in a cruel smirk. "If I’m not mistaken, you’re the one who called her here, aren’t you?"
"I..."
Quinn froze, looking guilty. She’d only called Kiana because she was worried Ethan would hurt her brother. She never wanted to put Kiana in danger herself.
"Besides, her brother threw the first punch. If Grandma comes, what’s she gonna do?"
Quinn’s heart jumped. Grandma always sided with Kiana, but Ethan had been raised by her own hand—she spoiled him more.
If Grandma found out Kiana’s brother hit Ethan, would she still treat Kiana the same way?
Bang...
Ethan smashed his glass hard on the floor, his cold, sinister eyes fixed on Quinn as he spat the words, "Quinn Sinclair, what the hell did Kiana Sutton ever give you to make you so damned loyal to her instead of your own family?"
