Chapter 114: Chapter 114: Have You Ever Seen President Sinclair’s White Moonlight?

When Kiana Sutton walked in, she was immediately hit by a sharp, acrid smell of cigarette smoke.

Ethan Sinclair was smoking, looking visibly irritated.

She stepped in quietly, stopping in front of the office.

For the first time, she felt that not knowing what to say wasn’t so bad—as long as she waited for Ethan to speak.

The very next second, a medicine bottle was thrown at her.

Kiana fumbled to catch it, and when she looked more closely, realized it was scar ointment.

She looked at Ethan Sinclair in surprise.

Seeing her reaction, Ethan’s expression grew even darker and more unpleasant. "What? The ointment Miles Goodman gave you, you treat like precious treasure, but the one I give you—you despise it?"

Kiana hurriedly shook her head, still unable to understand why Ethan was doing this.

Was he worried about her? 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢

Seeing Kiana’s hopeful eyes, Ethan grew even more frustrated. "Don’t overthink it. I just broke your ointment, so I’m compensating you with another one, that’s all."

Kiana’s lashes lowered slightly. After nodding, she turned to leave, but Ethan’s cold voice sounded again, "Stop!"

Kiana looked back at him.

"Aren’t you going to put the ointment on?"

"I’ll do it later, during my lunch break..."

Before Kiana could finish, Ethan cut her off coldly, "Put it on here, now."

Apply medicine in the CEO’s office during working hours? She didn’t dare to.

"Tsk..."

Maybe finding Kiana too slow, Ethan stood up, impatient, and pulled her onto the sofa. He unscrewed the ointment, scooped some onto his fingertip, and spread it onto Kiana’s injured finger.

His fingers were cool to the touch, and as he brushed against her, Kiana’s hand trembled slightly.

"Don’t move!"

Though Ethan’s face looked sullen, his touch was surprisingly gentle.

Kiana watched him quietly. He must not have slept well last night—the shadows under his eyes were obvious—but his face was still endlessly handsome.

How could anyone look so good?

For a moment, Kiana felt a sense of peace, as if everything in life was calm and gentle. If only time could stop here.

When he finished applying the medicine, Ethan replaced the cap and shoved the ointment back to her. "Three times a day. Not even once less."

Kiana obediently nodded.

Today, she wore a tailored suit and had her hair in a low ponytail. Though she was already twenty-three, her face looked as fresh and innocent as an eighteen-year-old’s.

Everything about her was soft, especially her lips.

His gaze landed on her mouth—soft in appearance, probably even softer to kiss. Ethan’s eyes darkened.

Damn, what the hell was wrong with him?

Why did he desire Kiana Sutton?

He didn’t even like her at all!

Kiana, puzzled by Ethan’s sudden mood change, turned to look at him, but he was already getting up to leave, giving her nothing but a cold, indifferent back.

"Get out!"

Kiana: "..."

This man, he was acting split again.

Amy Manning was thrilled when she saw Kiana, and by lunchtime, she was dragging her to the cafeteria for a meal.

"Kiana, I’ve missed you so much! Come on, today’s my treat—let’s go have a feast."

The two went to a Thai place. While eating, Amy started talking about Evan Shepherd.

"Kiana, did you hear? Evan Shepherd’s getting married?"

Kiana froze for a second. The last time she’d run into Evan, his grandmother had just passed away—how could he be getting married so soon!

"When? To whom?"

"I don’t know the details. Last time I ran into him on my way to the mall, he was with this woman, head to toe in designer brands. She wasn’t even good looking—pretty overweight too—and acted super arrogant."

"Later I messaged him, and he said he was getting married, and that woman was his fiancée."

Kiana nodded, making no comment.

To her, Evan Shepherd was already just someone from her past.

They couldn’t be friends, so it wasn’t her place to judge his life and choices.

"Sigh... It’s kind of incredible, honestly. He used to be the most handsome guy in our planning department. I even secretly crushed on him for a bit. Can’t believe, not even half a year later, and he’s marrying someone like that."

Seeing Kiana quietly eating, Amy didn’t bring Evan up again. Instead, she asked Kiana, "So, Kiana, things still good with your husband?"

Kiana looked up at Amy. Why the sudden subject change?

"You’re so pretty, and our CEO is so handsome—doesn’t your husband worry you might fall for our President Sinclair?"

Kiana hesitated. She wasn’t sure if she should tell Amy that Ethan Sinclair was her husband.

But then she thought, who knew how much longer she and Ethan would last? If she said something now and Ethan asked for a divorce tomorrow, wouldn’t she be humiliating herself?

Kiana smiled and shook her head. "I love my husband very much. I would never cheat."

"Good! When you’re free, let me meet him!"

Then Amy quickly added, "Hey, don’t take it the wrong way—I’m just really curious. I want to see what kind of man could get you to fall so hard for him."

Kiana smiled. If Amy knew she saw her husband almost every single day, who knows how she’d feel?

"Oh, by the way—did you hear? President Sinclair’s ’moonlight beauty’ finally woke up."

Kiana’s hand froze, chopsticks paused mid-air.

"Yeah, our President Sinclair is really devoted. But it’s a good thing he made it through to a happy ending. I wonder what our future CEO’s wife looks like. Hey, you’re President Sinclair’s assistant—you must have seen his moonlight beauty, right?"

Every word from Amy felt like a pinch in her chest. Kiana pressed her lips together and nodded lightly.

"Really? Is she pretty?"

Was Kate Lynch beautiful?

Without question. Otherwise, Ethan Sinclair couldn’t possibly have loved her all these years.

Seeing Kiana nod, Amy laughed, "I knew it! Our President Sinclair definitely has high standards."

Kiana stayed quiet, her chest heavy and aching.

"Well, I hope President Sinclair gets married soon."

"Why?"

"Because President Sinclair’s wedding will be a huge deal for Evercrest Group. He’ll have to give us all big red envelopes. And once he’s married, he’ll be spending every day loving his new wife—when he’s happy, he won’t make trouble for us anymore."

Kiana put down her chopsticks. "I’m full."

Amy glanced at her barely-touched food, a little surprised. "Wow, that’s it? Wait for me, I’ll eat faster."

Kiana nodded, gazing out the window at the sky dark with gathering clouds, feeling lost and troubled.

It was Felix Lynch’s death anniversary.

From the moment she woke, a chill rain was falling outside, soft and steady.

When Ethan went to the Lynch Family home to pick up Kate Lynch, grief hung over everything—everyone drowned in sorrow, the atmosphere heavy and stifling.

Sylvia Yates silently wept in front of Felix Lynch’s photo, while Angus Lynch tried to comfort her.

When Ethan entered, both of their gazes were complicated, but at least they were polite.

"President Sinclair, Autumn is waiting for you in the studio."

Ethan nodded lightly. Leaving them a brief, "My condolences," he was then led by a servant to the studio door.

He raised his hand to knock—only to realize the door was slightly open.

He pushed it and stepped inside—only to freeze in his tracks...
