His Mistress is His Ex-Wife-Chapter 54: Blunder
[ At Lannyโs Condo Unit... ] ๐ฏ๐ป๐๐๐๐ฎ๐๐ท๐๐ฟ๐๐.๐๐ธ๐ข
It was already nighttime when the Ivankov siblings arrived in York City. Lanny entered the condo unit ahead to check on the children while Vladimir parked the car.
After a while, Vladimir stepped into the house with an imposing aura. His sharp eyes surveyed the room only to meet a stranger. He had seen him in the Circles Event but he didnโt interact with him.
โWhat is he doing here? Donโt tell me he is the babysitter hired by my sister.โ With a stern expression, Vladimir observed Gael from head to toe.
Gael, on the other hand, exuded an easygoing charm. His gentle smile gave off a friendly vibe.
"Good evening!" Gael waved his hand, greeting Vladimir warmly.
"Gael, I presume?" Vladimir inquired, his voice deep and commanding.
"Thatโs me. Iโm Athenaโs friend," Gael replied, extending a hand. "And you must be Vladimir. Lanny and the kids mentioned you."
โSo he is close to Athena?โ Vladimir accepted his hand for a handshake. His grip was firm, and his steely gaze never wavered.
"I hope they didnโt gossip negatively about me, maintaining my positive image," Vladimir said casually.
Gael chuckled, breaking the tension. "Of course not. In fact, they made me more curious about you."
Vladimir just maintained his stoic expression, not believing Gaelโs words. Given the attitude of Kimmy and Lanny, he could only assume that the mother-and-daughter duo already made disparaging remarks about him.
"Care for a drink?" Vladimir gestured towards the mini-bar of Lannyโs condo.
Gael nodded, following Vladimir as he made his way to the sleek counter. Vladimir poured whiskey into their glasses, the sound of ice cubes clinking against the crystal filling the room.
As he took a sip, Vladimirโs gaze sharpened. "How long have you been friends with Athena and Lanny?" He was simply gathering information, checking out whether Gael was one of his rivals or he could be his friend.
Gael leaned against the counter, meeting Vladimirโs gaze with a confident smile. "Iโve known Athena since grade school. We are childhood friends. And I met Lanny through her."
โSince they are childhood friends, Gael and Athena had known each other for years. If he had feelings for her, then he should have made a move by now, pursuing her.โ Vladimir raised an eyebrow, intrigued.
โPerhaps I shouldnโt be wary of this guy. Instead, I should aim to be on his good side,โ Vladimir added to his thoughts. However, part of him regarded every man circling Athena as his rival. โHmm. I shouldnโt lower my guard.โ
"Gael! Come here for a while. There is something I want to talk about with you." Lannyโs voice interrupted the two men. "Kimmy, Aaron, go to your Uncle. We are going to the airport in a while."
Aaron and Kimmy obediently followed Lannyโs instructions. The two kids approached Vladimir while Lanny and Gael went outside to talk.
"Gael, thank you so much for your help. The kids have enjoyed your company so much. I hope they didnโt exhaust you, draining your energy. You are so sweet, touring them around the city the whole day." Lanny appreciated how Gael took care of the kids. He had a long patience when dealing with children as compared to her brother, Vladimir.
"No need to mention it. I also had fun bonding with them. By the way, howโs the reunion between Sabby and Enzo? I heard she decided to stay in the Fortuna Grande to bond with him. So how is he doing?" Gael asked Lanny curiously.
Lanny sighed deeply before answering him. "Everything went smoothly, except for the fact that Enzo doesnโt recall any of us. Heโs suffering from amnesia, a result of an accident five years ago. Since he lost his memory, weโve been unable to uncover the details of the incident or understand what transpired during that unfortunate event five years ago."
Lanny clenched her fists, her expression turning grim. "We are not certain if Dominiqueโs men have something to do with his accident. Enzo had sustained severe injuries, almost losing his life. He was in a coma for nine months and had undergone physical therapy for a year just to recover completely. "
Gaelโs hands balled into tight fists upon hearing that. Frustration and anger were evident in his eyes. "Whoever did that to Enzo must pay. I feel sorry for both Enzo and Sab. They suffered a lot."
"Yes. They did." Lanny took another deep sigh.
"Did you tell him about Sabrinaโs new identity? How about Kimmy?" Gael asked.
Lanny shook her head. "No. We decided not to tell him. Athena didnโt want to involve her brother in her quest for revenge. Furthermore, Enzo already has a girlfriend and it looks like he is living well on that island. His girlfriend was the one who saved him and took care of him for the past five years."
Gael had conflicting thoughts about that. "Arenโt you going to help him recover his memory? Enzo has the right to know the truth. If I were Enzo, I know he would want to share the burden with his sister. He wouldnโt want Sabrina to face dangerous situations alone."
"Thatโs why he took matters into his own hands five years ago. He committed a crime to punish the people who betrayed them. Unfortunately, he failed."
A moment of silence reigned when Gael said those words. Lanny and Gael knew that Enzo would willing to sacrifice everything just to protect his sister.
"Ugh! He is so stupid. He chose the wrong method of getting revenge. Instead of destroying his enemies, his reckless actions only led to his own downfall," Lanny exclaimed, expressing her frustration.
Gael let out a soft chuckle, lightening the mood as he patted Lannyโs shoulder. "Itโs alright. The important thing is that he is alive and weโve finally found him."
"Yes. You are right. Weโve solved one issue." Lanny sighed helplessly.
"Uhmm... Lanny... speaking of an issue... I have a confession to make," Gael smiled sheepishly, giving her an apologetic look.
"Go on... What is it?" Lanny glanced at him with intrigue.
"I made a terrible blunder and because of that... Dominique had met Aaron..."
"WHAT?!"
