Chapter 144: Bond (2)

Who dares disturb us?

I will gut him and hang his intestines out on a spike and... Oh, my mate is so cute when she sleeps.

If they wake her up, I will crush his bones so tight they will turn into dust. π—³π«πšŽπ—²πš πšŽπ—―π•Ÿπ¨π˜ƒπšŽπ—Ή.𝗰𝗼𝗺

A knock sounded on the door, waking us from sleep. Eryx growled, not wanting to be disturbed, although we’d been stuck in this room for days. My eyes fluttered open; my mate was spooning me, keeping me close to his chest. The room now had claw marks on the walls, the bedposts, the cabinet now broken, and the wall marked from our mating.

"Are you two done?" Kharis asks in amusement from the other side of the door.

It was the quietest we’d been since entering Eryx’s guest room, and it was from sheer exhaustion. My body was both in bliss and ached pleasurably so. My wolf was lounging, utterly satisfied. You and me both.

"What do you want?" Eryx snapped, his chest rumbling as he pulled me with him, rolling over until we faced away from the door like we could block out the outside world. I feel so tiny in his arms and protected. I can’t help but wiggle my way even closer to him.

’Careful, little mate,’ he growled in our mind link. He nuzzled my neck and inhaled deeply. ’I could still go.’ He kissed my mate mark. ’But I can also feel how exhausted your body is.’

"Alpha King Alaric has requested your presence," Kharis informed us, still sounding amused and completely unaware of how close I was to tossing all reasoning aside to spend some more time learning a few ’skills’ from my mate.

"He can wait," Eryx replied gruffly, hiding his face in the back of my neck again, licking my mark. It still tingled and throbbed, making my body feel light and airy.

"This isn’t the first time he has requested your presence. We didn’t want to... disturb you two," Kharis replied with a snicker.

"He should be grateful I haven’t taken my mate with me the moment I claimed her... A few days is not enough time to be left alone," Eryx growled back so fiercely that the bed shook.

No, a few days simply weren’t enough time for newly mated true mates to be alone. The minimum time spent was usually two weeks. We knew that wasn’t a possibilityβ€”not with everything that has happened. It has been a blessing that there have been no attacks since our official mateship.

"We’ll meet him for dinner..." I say, realising it was mid-morning. The bed and my mate were too comfortable to leave and meet my brother. I also wanted to brace myself as it is obvious what we have been up to since we discovered we were mates, and it’s a little embarrassing to see him.

Eryx growled, still disliking the idea of leaving at all. I snuggle into him. "Come on, it’s only dinner," I laugh, the lightness in my voice, the sheer happiness feeling unreal. I didn’t want this moment to end with Eryx even if we were just cuddling in bed, but we couldn’t stay locked away enjoying ourselves.

Something might have happened that we are unaware of.

Eryx huffed, relenting, seeming to read my mind. He actually might have done. We were still adjusting to the mate bond. So far, we can mind link and feel each other’s emotions. I’d sworn I’d gotten glimpses of his thoughts before, but we were so consumed in our lovemaking that I’d quickly lost myself in bliss.

"Ugh. You two disgust me," Kharis fake-gags from the other side of the door. "I can feel your icky sweetness from here. I think dinner is a better idea. Eryx can’t be seen... all cuddly and tamed. Ow!"

Eryx growled at Kharis’ words, and I laughed when I realised Cohnal had clipped him over the head like normal.

"In a minute, you will get more than a smack in the head," Eryx grumbled, bringing the covers over us like that might hide us more. I giggle; it was too amusing. This was the beastly, scary Alpha Prince of Sun and Fury, and he didn’t want to deal with his friends or any duties we had to return to.

"Yes, Alphaaaa," Kharis sang. "I’ll tell the King you will be there for dinner.." We heard his retreating footsteps and Cohnal smacking him over the head again. "Ow, what was that for?"

Eryx licked at my mark again, distracting me from whatever else his Beta and warrior might say to each other. "Mmm, we need to stop being lazy..." I murmur, turning around and wrapping my arms around him. His scent, body, everything about him was ingrained into my being.

"It’s not lazy," he says, kissing my neck and nipping occasionally. "We are spending time together."

"Mmm, I suppose that’s right." I cling to him, and he lowers down, sensually kissing down my breasts, his hands roaming over my backside. I arch a little into him, and then a small ache forms in my lower back; we have been a little rough with each other.

Eryx immediately stops. It must have pinged through the bond. "It’s okay..." I murmur, still getting into the mood. My wolf was more than ready, thinking I was being a weakling.

My mate shook his head. "No, you need actual rest. We can... talk instead."

I arch an eyebrow at that. Why did it sound like Eryx had a few things on his mind? Oh, right, because I can tell he has, but I can’t quite grasp some of the words in my mind that are definitely not my thoughts. An image then forms in my mind; it’s from Eryx.

It’s me in my wolf form walking back into the palace grounds, head held high, looking exactly as I felt, like the princess I was always meant to be, respected. But there was something else. I knew my fur was a white-gold colouring, but on my forehead was a darker golden hue than the rest of me, a patch creating the shape of a crescent moon.

My breath inhales sharply. Everyone knew I was a Chosen.
