His Forsaken Luna-Chapter 129: Alpha Blood (2)
I knew him well, even if he never spoke much. His face was a mask of calm, his eyes fixed on me, unreadable. And the moment I locked eyes with him, I knew something was wrong. My heart stuttered in my chest, and I could feel the blood draining from my face. They weren’t here to help me. They weren’t here to save me.
My relief faded like a burst bubble, replaced by a cold, seething rage. "Are you here to kill me?" I drawled, my voice calm but filled with an icy edge. My fists shook at my sides, my wolf rising inside me, its fury mirroring my own.
The guard before me flinched at my words, and I could see the hesitation in his eyes. The others behind him shifted uncomfortably. But Deyanira’s lover stepped forward, his smirk cruel and calculating.
"Come with us," he said, his voice low, his words filled with threat.
I narrowed my eyes, my wolf already thrumming beneath my skin. "No."
The guards behind him froze, some of them even dropping their weapons in shock. Some scoff, aware that I don’t know how to fight. Getting a wolf didn’t mean I was any more dangerous.
And then, just as I felt the power surge within me, Deyanira’s lover spoke. "If you don’t come with us," he smirked, taking a bold step toward me. "Your precious knight will be killed."
My blood ran cold.
From the shadows of a nearby building, they dragged him forward. Soren. Bloodied, cuffed in silver chains, his dirty blonde hair stained crimson. He was unconscious, barely able to stand, and every inch of him made my stomach churn.
"Deyanira sent you," I whispered under my breath as I realised my mistake with the High Fae; why I was so convinced they had Soren and not Theo. The threat hadn’t come from them first. It came from Deyanira.
I stare at Soren, but I don’t really see him. Something in me takes over.
A roaring rage. The bloodlust. Vengeance.
My wolf howled inside me, and I could feel her take control. She was no longer a sense in the back of my mind; she was a force, a storm.
She is displeased by the disrespect. She is vengeance. I could feel it in my bones.
My body trembled with the power she was giving me. My bones broke and reformed with a sickening snap. The transformation wasn’t graceful. But it didn’t matter. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
Soren was there. Deyanira’s lover stood before me. And the guards... my wolf scoffed, they were beneath me.
With a snarl, I lunged.
I didn’t think. I didn’t plan. I just reacted. My jaw ripped off Deyanira’s lover’s head first. The guards who laughed at me were next. Their bodies torn apart.
My wolf stalked towards the last of them. Blood dripped from her snout, coating her golden white fur crimson, and droplets splattered on the snowy ground. The guards, who had been bowing, trembled under my scrutiny.
"Mercy, Princess." They pleaded.
Where was mine? My thought whispered around my wolf, who snarled near their heads, assessing them and their worth.
I was a beast, a creature of vengeance, and nothing would stop me. My claws shredded through armour, flesh, and bone. I could smell their fear, feel their blood on my fur, and it only fueled me further. They fell apart like ribbons, their screams drowned out by the roar of my wolf.
When I finally stopped, the ground around me was littered with the remains of those who had dared to bow before me. They who came here to kill me under Deyanira’s orders realised their mistake too late. They who could never be trusted.
I stood over them, my wolf’s snout pressed against the lifeless body of one guard, smelling the blood that spilt across the cobblestones. I’d never killed before, and now many lay at my paws. My wolf snarled at my thoughts.
It was simple. Survival.
In my blood-induced daze, my nose caught a scent.
Soren. He was still alive.
I stumbled over to him, my claws clicking against the icy stone as I lowered my snout to his body, sniffing deeply. He was alive, though barely. His heartbeat was faint, but it was there. I nudged him gently with my snout, trying to rouse him, but he didn’t stir.
My wolf was about to shift back when another called out to me. The threat ran through my spine, and my wolf growled, her ears going down as she slowly turned around, bright blue eyes glowing.
"Who are you?" A deep, guttural voice growled from behind me.
Standing there was Alaric. His eyes widened as he stared at my wolf, at me. "Idalia?"
My wolf’s snarling stopped, replaced with a small whine at seeing our brother.
Relief filled his eyes as he stepped closer. His guards warned him from behind but fell silent when my wolf’s gaze flicked to them.
Alaric’s steps quickened, then faltered. "Did you... do this?" He frowned, his gaze falling on the bloodied scene behind me and to my bloodied coat.
They tried to kill me-- I wanted to say.
SNAP. Then, like an invisible band snapped into place, I could feel a connection to Alaric.
My words rushed through the invisible band before I had control of them. ’They tried to kill me...’
Alaric nodded, his shock transforming into acknowledgement that some of the royal guards tried to kill me. ’Idalia... Your wolf.... she’s marvellous and...’ His words rang slightly like we were in some cave, but his voice was clear. Alaric’s gaze travelled up. ’You should shift back before others can see your mark... You need to hide it.’
My mark? ’That doesn’t matter right now.’ Whatever this mark is. ’Soren is dying! He needs a healer!’
Alaric looked past me to where I was standing protectively in front of Soren. Alaric shouted out commands and marched forward, removing his cloak. ’Idalia... Please shift back.’
Alaric’s men raced forward and helped the knight. The guards were shocked and wary of me, and a few focused on me intensely. I shifted then, groaning at the pain ripping through me and accepted the cloak wrapped around me.

"You escaped High Fae and a Blood Wraith?" Alaric stared at me incredulously. We were in an inn near the outskirts of the town.
I didn’t feel comfortable staying here. We were too close to where I had been. I explained to Alaric what happened and how I escaped, but the longer I spoke with him in the room, the more my wolf was almost whining in the back of my mind.
"We will leave this instant. I will send men to search for this cabin and the surrounding area-"
"Where is Eryx?" I cut him off, uncaring for his annoyed expression.
"He and his men have been tracking you down. They came across a creature that created vines and thorns. Beta Cohnal was injured, but he is stable enough to travel with us-"
"Hold on..." I frowned, realising they must have fought Elwin. "We can’t leave without Eryx and Kharis and..."
"Yes, we can, and we will," Alaric clipped, leaning his hands on the table between us as he gave me a stern look. "I will send word to them that you have been found. Beta Cohnal can mind link them. We will not be waiting here.. You said so yourself... It is not safe."
My wolf whined in my mind and I felt this restlessness. "He won’t believe it until he sees me." I don’t know where I had this conviction about Eryx.
Alaric searched my eyes for a moment, an emotion flashing in his before his usual stoic self was back. "Then he will return quicker."
