High School of Demon Hunting-Chapter 1699 - 443: Pink Mushroom
"Damn it! Three Hunts!"
"Tell your students to be more careful!"
"You can kill my crew, but don’t damage my ship’s side!"
The angry voice of the Mist Captain came from mid-air, along with a pair of gigantic fists made of white mist, descending like meteorites, smashing towards the battlements of the inner fort.
A thick wooden stick appeared from the side, colliding with the fists and sending them flying.
The three-headed and eight-armed Giant Ape was handling three Great Demons with three heads and three pairs of arms, while a spare pair of arms quickly formed spells in silence, summoning ferocious Fire Dragons to attack the damaged Mist Ship.
The cursing of the Mist Captain grew louder.
At the battlements of the inner fort.
After slaying the recently appeared bizarre-looking pink creature, Zheng Qing did not notice the small interaction between Dean Yao and the Mist Captain in the air. The four deans of the First University, along with six Great Demons, were in a chaotic battle in the narrow Keiform Flight Land, with curses louder than those of the Mist Captain. Focusing only on the friendly exchanges between the big shots might make it hard to dodge hidden arrows flying from the city below.
At this moment, the young cost student squinted, holding a Charm Gun, searching for new prey while discussing the recent creature with Jiang Yu and the black cat crouching on the battlements.
"I always feel that creature seemed familiar."
Zheng Qing swore it was the first time he’d seen such a pink insect monster, yet for some reason, there was an inexplicable familiarity in his heart: "...I’ve definitely never seen it before!"
After helping the Warlocks resist the first wave of demon attacks, the Divination Team Leader waved a Feather Fan and vanished. Now, atop the battlements were only two young Wizards, a special spirit Little Witch, and a lazy black cat.
Perhaps there were Wizards sustaining the Protect Legal Formation behind the left and right tower buildings, but they were currently out of sight.
"Pink monster? I want to see too!"
Zhu Si clung to the rough wall, attempting to climb up the battlements, but just as she was about to succeed, Jiang Yu would skillfully pinch her neck and pull her back down.
"Maybe it’s not familiarity."
The Witch had also aimed at the monster, but Zheng Qing had pulled the trigger faster, yet it didn’t affect her observation of the creature’s form: "It’s not completely pink... Looking at it, I also feel a kind of familiarity, especially seeing its mottled colors and twisted shape."
The word ’twisted’ explained a lot.
"Starry Sky?" The Warlock instinctively looked up at the sky.
Without the night and thick clouds covering, the sky of the Black Prison World became vast and towering. The golden and red dual Suns shone brilliantly, occupying most of the sky; as long as one looked up, everyone’s gaze would be attracted by the battling Suns, and the brilliant Starry Sky that might lie beyond the Suns was entirely unnoticed at the moment.
The lazy voice of the black cat finally sounded in the young Wizards’ ears:
"It’s Rice. Go."
It lay on the battlement, with its tail hanging into the wall, resembling a thick rope. Several times, Zhu Si almost managed to grab the cat’s tail to climb up, but the black cat would always flick the tip of its tail at the last moment, thwarting the Little Witch’s efforts.
"Rice...Go?"
Zheng Qing repeated this strange term, inexplicably connecting it to a wet, slippery sensation. It made him stamp his foot, as if that could shake off the non-existent slick feeling on his body.
"A kind of trans-dimensional creature from distant spacetime continua."
The black cat wasn’t keeping secrets and patiently explained to the boy: "Although they’re also listed as ’Starry Sky Creatures’ in the Alliance data cards, they’re not the same as Outer Gods... nor are they followers of Outer Gods." 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
"Hmm, simply put, they’re probably colonists from other universes. A powerful race capable of crossing different universes to conduct colonization activities. Wizards developing new worlds occasionally deal with such creatures. From what I know, the Alliance has designated a territory for them on Pluto as their temporary base in the Wizard World."
"The pink little monsters below the city are likely hybrids of Mi-Go and Emperor Bug... The reason a Witch Demon becomes a Witch Demon is because they conduct experiments without inhibition. Emperor Bugs are creatures evolved to the extreme physically, and Mi-Go are creatures of soul mutation. Who knows what kind of freakish monster their hybrids are!"
While speaking, dozens of ’MiGo King Bugs’ breached the Defensive Magic Array of the outer fortress, passing through the passage supported by KOTOS and the Great Willow Tree, reaching the Keiform Flight Land.
This time, they didn’t directly pounce towards the inner fortress.
Instead, they ruffled their wing covers on their backs, scattering pieces of pink fluff along the sprawling willow branches. The pink fluff floated down, settling on the willow twigs, and rapidly gathered, expanded, growing into clusters of vivid-colored mushrooms.
"Bugs are just bugs."
Zheng Qing knocked away a slightly closer creature to the inner fortress wall with a shot, complaining: "Their brains must be the size of a fingernail... Those mushrooms look dangerous, do they think we’d pick them on the battlefield to make soup? Any sensible Wizard would throw a Firestorm Curse over and burn them away... What are you doing?!!"
The young Warlock nearly threw his Charm Gun at the black cat’s head.
On the battlement, several thick-capped, meat-juiced pink mushrooms had appeared between the black cat’s paws, and it was now tilting its head, smacking its lips, cautiously tasting them.
Zheng Qing could clearly see small mushroom-like bumps growing on the red tongue that the black cat stuck out.
"Are you out of your mind?!"
In just one sentence, mushrooms sprouted all over the black cat’s body, looking strange and yet magnificent. The young Warlock wanted to help the black cat remove them, but worried the spores might be infectious, he couldn’t help but step back a few paces, exasperatedly exclaiming:
"At least you’ve been through thousands of Two-dimensional Worlds, how can you casually eat things from the enemy?! You only look like a cat, you’re not a real cat! Where did such a big curiosity come from?!"
"Even Zhu Si is more sensible than you!"
Saying that, Zheng Qing instinctively looked down, searching for the little witch’s figure to justify his words.
But the little witch who had been right under his nose was now nowhere to be found.
The Warlock tensed up, quickly glancing around. On the empty walls, there were only him, Jiang Yu, and the black cat. Aside from the cross-long shadows cast by the two Suns above the battlements, there was no other trace of existence.
As they caught the Warlock’s gaze, Jiang Yu realized the situation at the same instant.
The two immediately panicked.
