Heroine-Saving System: Reborn In A Third-Rate Manga As The Protagonist-Chapter 66: Budget Gauntlet
Victoria gritted her teeth and raised her hands up.
The blood that was on the body of the other Iron Terror that had been knocked aside by the hit formed into bloody chains that wrapped around the monster as a whole, constricting it.
"Damn you!" She lifted it up into the air with the help of the chains.
The heaviness of the monster did not matter... the blood chains lifted it with ease and then sent it back down to the ground with an impact capable of tearing a deep hole in the ground; however the monster’s eyes glowed and it vanished, letting the chains of blood hit the ground but it was no longer there.
"Come on... we need to help him out." She said as she pulled Yuna and the newly awakened Akemi by the hand, flying toward where Koya was with powerful beats of her wings.
...
Koya leaned to the side, dodging the strike of the bear monster.
It was big so it was slow as well. It would be more enjoyable if his whole body wasn’t steaming in an attempt to heal himself from the force of being thrown through a building.
His ribs were cracked and his back felt like it had been hit by a truck.
Just then, another shadow appeared over them, soaring downward like a missile and he glanced up to see the Iron Terror coming downward with its limbs extended like spears.
Within that instant, he bounced backward with Speed Burst and the Iron Terror collided with the bear monster.
It threw dust everywhere and when the dust cleared, the Iron Terror was pulling itself out of the ground and the skeleton of the Bear monster was laid out on the ground, completely flattened into paste.
’Damn... It’s really angry.’ Koya thought as the monster successfully pulled itself out of the ground and its eyes glowed with murderous intent. ’It doesn’t have the same ability as the other one.’
He turned on his skills and Sensory was feeling some sort of distortion behind him, like space itself was bending.
He pushed himself to the right completely and the Terror appeared behind him, extending its limb forward in an attempt to crush him into the ground.
Upon seeing that he dodged it, the monster’s eyes widened in what looked like surprise and the psionic energy around it grew even more intense, crackling in the air before expelling outward with a force that sent him flying through another building.
However the instant he came out the other side, Victoria caught him and held onto him tightly.
"Hubby, are you okay?" She asked as she lathered his wounded back in saliva.
She wasn’t surprised by the fact that he had magically gotten a healing factor for a while now, but she was glad that he wasn’t that wounded.
"Yeah. How are we going to deal with that?" Koya asked. It was an Iron class however it had pretty strong power.
How was he supposed to deal with it when it could teleport and had that kind of psionic blast?
"Just leave it to me." Victoria replied as the building broke apart and the Iron Terror burst forth with its golden eyes glowing with rage and hatred. "It’s already dead."
From the falling fragments of the building to the surrounding area, pods of blood made themselves known.
These pods began glowing with a deep crimson light that pulsed at intervals and just before the monster extended a hand for them, it stopped mid-motion.
Hundreds of tendrils tore through it in an instant. They emerged from every direction... from the ground, from the air, from the debris, from the very shadows themselves... all converging on the Iron Terror at once.
The tendrils ignored the fact that it was made of magic iron and pierced it from up and down, left and right, breaking apart its core as well as tearing through every vital point simultaneously.
The monster didn’t even have time to teleport away before it was skewered completely, its body suspended in the air by the sheer number of blood spears.
Blood sprayed in every direction as the tendrils retracted and the massive body collapsed to the ground with a metallic crash.
The traps disappeared and the monster fell to the ground with its eyes still intact however it was dead.
"I used another one of my spells..." She muttered under her breath while looking at her hands. "It’s known as Blood Trap and I can set a thousand at a time maximum however..."
Her fangs extended without her even willing it... She was hungry of course.
"It takes a lot of blood and I’m hungry again."
"Drink as much as you wan—" She didn’t wait for him to finish before biting into the usual spot on his neck.
During this, he tried to focus on other things however he couldn’t. She continued sucking his blood and it was pleasurable in a way that made his head spin.
Soon she tore her face away and licked the spot as they flew down to the ground where Yuna and Akemi were waiting with concerned expressions.
"Master, are you alright?" Akemi asked while looking at him with a concerned face and scanning him for injuries.
"I am." Koya replied as the experience mana floated out of the corpse to Victoria however with a flick of her own finger, she directed the mana to Akemi and Yuna, filling the girls up with more power. "We’ll continue our plan the way it was. You both will hit three-liner status today with close combat next."
With that, he walked off in the direction of the Iron Terror and touched the limb. It collapsed into several pieces like it had rusted away over centuries.
’Tori is really strong.’ He directed the thought at Tori and the Vampire heard his thought, a blush heating up on her cheeks.
As for why other people weren’t farming monsters like them, Crest farming in the Outer Zone was hard to do.
It had only been 40 something years since the Apocalypse and even though Humanity had managed to secure the Supercities, the Outer Zones of each city were not fully explored and the explored zones were filled with Awakened already dealing with the monsters there.
It was legal to veer off the explored zones which they were doing right now but that meant your death couldn’t be held to anyone... You were on your own but going through the explored zones would lead to the Outer Layer which was only visited by the top-tier Awakened.
In the Outer Layer, that was the regular human world. After the Apocalypse, one could see ruins of cities and all that.
Koya didn’t know if Humanity had tried claiming what was beyond the Outer Layer in the later volumes of the light novel since he had read the manga but it was a dangerous world filled with monsters far stronger than anything in the Outer Zone.
"Anyway, time to get these eyes." He said as he broke the four eyes off and stored three of them while looking at the last one in his hand. ’Analyze.’
「Item Name: Eye Of Terror」
「Item Rank: C」
「Item Description: The eye which contains the left-over psionic energy used by an Iron Terror. Can be used as an artifact to draw upon the power of the Terror」
’I wonder System... how do I even begin to use this?’ Koya thought. Of course he wanted to blast his opponents backward with psionic energy like the Terror had done to him.
「To use an artifact, you can buy a Fate Gauntlet from the System store—」
’Fuck that...’ He thought. Maybe next month but the System would most likely be charging insanely for that gauntlet.
「Or make one yourself with the body of a Terror. Would you like to generate the animation video?」
Either he was going to buy something overpriced from the System store, or he would make it himself... The answer was clear.
’Generate it.’ He thought and hopped down from the body, placing it in one of his rings.
"Alright girls, let’s go get the other body and then find a good place to farm monsters." He said and they all nodded, except for Akemi who looked at the ground with a troubled expression. "Akemi... what’s wrong?"
"I... I want to grow stronger." She looked at him in the face with confident eyes that burned with determination. "So I can protect you Master. You won’t need to face them again."
"Good..." He patted her head gently. "Remember, never let your feelings cloud your judgement. If you see a monster coming for you, kill it without hesitation."
"Kill it." She repeated with a nod.
She would do what her Master asked without question.
...
It took another few hours and right now, it was probably heading to evening.
They were near the spot where they had camped the last time and right now, a blood cage had been made by Victoria while the girls were holding their own swords.
While Victoria had been gathering the Iron class monsters for the girls, he had been teaching them the basics of the Dragon Flowing Sword which involved the slash, parry, stab and other basic techniques that would keep them alive.
Yuna had gotten the hang of it surprisingly though she was a bit sloppy with her footwork while Akemi was a bit worse off, but they would survive.
The Iron class monsters had a few changes here and there.
First of all, Victoria had planted a blood trap on their backs which would pierce their hearts if they were about to brutally harm one of the girls. For monsters that had a lot of armor, a portion of their armor had been removed for accuracy training of course.
"Let it loose." Koya said while raising a hand and two monsters came out.
It was the same kind of Iron class boar that had helped Yuna rank up the first time except there were blood collars connected to the chains on their necks and Yuna felt confident.
Their weakness was the center of their heads.
She chanted a bit and so did Akemi. Once both of them hit mana mode, the monsters were let loose and ran at them immediately with snorts and grunts, their hooves pounding against the ground.
Yuna split up from Akemi while holding onto her sword since it was her lifeline.
Koya had spent the past few hours educating them after all... Mana Mode was to help them move better but they were meant to infuse it into the sword for a cool strike that would end the fight quickly.
The monster caught up with her and she stopped running, letting it run past her however it skidded to a stop and the both of them looked at each other before advancing.
The boar charged forward and she moved backward, dodging the initial charge and it brought out its head so she parried the monster with all the power she had in her arms.
They were at a stalemate for a few seconds and then she bounced backward and as it landed, she focused the mana into her sword and let it glow with blue energy before stabbing directly in its brain, ending it for good.
She pulled out the weapon slick with blood and gave Koya a thumbs-up before looking at Akemi to see how she was doing.
She half-expected Akemi to be trembling or struggling. However it was quite the opposite. The boar was turned over and she had straddled it by the stomach while stabbing down on its head continuously until it was completely done.
The blood had spilled down on her face and she had finally stopped while turning to Koya who looked at her with wide eyes. She used the sleeve of her cloth to wipe the blood and smiled at him innocently.
"Master, did I do well? Am I strong enough to protect you now?" She asked and pulled out the sword, standing straight.
He walked over to her and patted her head.
’How did she even manage to straddle it?’
"Yes, you did well. Keep it up." He told her and she smiled brightly, then he walked over and patted Yuna’s head too. "Your battle was nice as well. Your parries need more improvement though. It should be smoother."
"Yes Master." She said and after the girls prepared a bit and caught their breath, another set of monsters were sent to them again.
He walked back to where he had left the corpse and even a box that was strong enough to sit on, and looked at the screen in front of him that displayed the blueprint.
This was the Fate Gauntlet the System was talking about. It was completely black with a slot in the center and mana circuits on the body leading to the slot.
The eyes could then be implanted into the slot and their powers could be used by the wearer. It was a bit complicated but he had the fire element so he would be fine with the crafting process.
’Now how do I get into the Iron Terror and take the circuits as well as tear out material for a gauntlet?’ He thought.
The System was essentially teaching him how to make a budget gauntlet that could still work effectively.
"Tori!"
The Vampire floated over to him and blinked at her hubby.
"Yes Hubby."
"Teach me Blood Burst." He said and her lips twitched as she looked to the side.
"You don’t need my Blood Burst anymore?" She asked with a deflated expression. Of course the Blood contract gave him the Blood element as well but she wanted to still be useful to him.
He blinked.
"Are you kidding me? I can’t compare to you in that aspect. Besides I just wanted to get a long range offensive ability. You’re still the best." He said and her face brightened up immediately.
"Okay hubby... I’m sure you have Blood Convergence right?" She asked and he nodded. "Good, perform Blood Convergence at a singular point."
He performed Blood Convergence in his hand and the blood in there was bubbling even more than ever.
When he usually used it, he used it to enhance his movement, not like this.
"Now this is the other part. Expel all that blood outside from your fingertips." She said and took a stance that pressed both hands together. "It’s better to do it like this to maximize the power of your strike."
He took the same stance and the convergence spread to both hands. With a grit of his teeth, he expelled the bubbling blood outward and it shot out to a nearby building, piercing the wall and leaving a small crater there.
「You have learned Spell: Blood Burst (E)」
"Yay! Hubby, you did it." She cheered next to him and he smiled.
It was weak since it was E-rank since he hadn’t turned to a blue-liner but he could still enhance the power of the spell by using Mana Mode.
Right now, his focus was on her lips.
They looked amazing... ever since Pale Sword had kissed him yesterday, he wanted to experiment and that he did.
He leaned forward and gave Victoria a kiss on the lips.
It was a quick one however Victoria blushed as she realized what had happened and without telling him anything, she turned into a bat and flew away.
"Did she like it or not?" He blinked, and then turned to the monster. According to the video, the mana circuits were on the inside after the limbs so he would blast one of them up.
He raised both hands and reached mana mode before performing convergence and then Blood Burst.
A thicker beam of blood shot out and he aimed it at the joint for one of the limbs... It took a bit of a while but the arm was completely sawed off and he looked into the hole seeing the circuits that were inactive.
They were like the red circuits on the gauntlet.
"Hehehehehehahahahahahahahahah! Time to make my Infinity Gauntlet!"
The girls that were resting gave him a look. What was he laughing about now?
