Heroine-Saving System: Reborn In A Third-Rate Manga As The Protagonist-Chapter 59: Attack On Academy [II]
The redhead assassin looked at Koya.
’He’s not the same as the Information pointed out...’
They had performed extensive research on several of the talented students in the Academy and he was listed, however he was just a two-liner that was now pretty famous.
So when did he reach four-liner status?
"What a monster." He muttered under his breath as he leapt backward, covering the wound with a film of mana and then stabbing a syringe into his arm.
It was Anti-poison and every member of the Order had at least one shot with them. "Are you sure you don’t want to join the Order?"
He was utterly outmatched in this kind of scenario and he couldn’t run either.
If he managed to capture Saki then he would be promoted to a rank equal with that of Squad Captain, Pale Sword... he couldn’t simply pass up the opportunity like that.
"I didn’t know the Order merely recruited anyone. Do you guys really have that little members?" Koya asked and the assassin gritted his teeth, holding onto his sickle weapon as he drew the syringe out and let the blood spray onto the ground.
"You should have taken my offer! You’re dead meat!" The man yelled out while Koya picked his nose in disinterest.
’More fighting and less talking... Why don’t these manga characters understand this?’ Koya thought, and the man shot forward with his sickle weapon raised.
The assassin closed the distance in an instant, sickle cutting through the air in a downward arc that would have split Koya from shoulder to hip.
Koya raised his sword and caught the curved blade mid-swing, sparks flying as metal shrieked against metal.
The redhead twisted his wrist and the sickle’s curve hooked around Koya’s guard, dragging the blade downward toward his ribs.
Koya stepped into the motion instead of away from it and the sickle scraped harmlessly across his side.
He pivoted and brought his sword up in a diagonal slash that forced the assassin to abandon his grip entirely and flip backward to avoid losing his head.
The man landed in a crouch and his eyes narrowed.
’He’s keeping up.’
That shouldn’t have been possible. The redhead had been trained by the Order since he was six years old... drilled in combat until his body moved on reflex alone.
This kid was a student. He was a four-liner, yes, but a student.
He shouldn’t have the instincts to read that feint, let alone counter it.
The assassin darted forward again, this time feinting high before dropping low and sweeping the sickle at Koya’s legs.
Koya hopped over the blade and came down with a stab aimed at the man’s shoulder. The redhead rolled to the side, came up, and immediately launched into a spinning slash that forced Koya to block three consecutive strikes in rapid succession... each one was heavier than the last and they were trying to batter through his guard with sheer momentum.
Koya’s feet slid backward across the dirt but he didn’t buckle.
On the fourth strike, he angled his blade just enough that the sickle glanced off to the side instead of meeting it head-on, and the assassin stumbled forward slightly from the lack of resistance.
Koya didn’t waste the opening. He slashed horizontally and the redhead barely got his weapon up in time to block but the force of the blow sent him skidding several feet to the left.
’What kind of strength—’
The assassin’s hands were shaking... That last block had rattled his bones.
He reset his stance and came in again, faster this time, chaining attacks in a brutal sequence designed to overwhelm through speed and precision.
Sickle from the left, redirected into an overhead chop and then a pull back into a thrust aimed at the throat followed by a rotation into a slash at the knees... Koya parried the first, sidestepped the second, ducked under the third, and caught the fourth on his blade before twisting his wrist and forcing the sickle wide.
’He’s not even trying yet.’
That realization settled in his gut like ice.
Koya grinned as he raised his sword and caught the next strike dead-on, throwing sparks into the air.
The blade had been curved in a way that made sure the hooked side would catch Koya during the clash, and then the assassin moved the weapon to the left in an attempt to fatally wound him but his blade bounced back completely as Koya parried it with a sharp twist, leaving him wide open.
In that instant, Koya stabbed forward with Enhanced Strength and Enhanced Speed, driving the blade clean through the man’s chest.
He looked into the assassin’s eyes and they gradually turned blank before he ceased moving entirely.
「You have claimed the bounty on Assassin: ’Naul’」
「Bounty: 14,000 FP」
He withdrew the blade and the corpse fell to the ground. Koya shook the sword once, letting the blood flow down from the steel.
’This place is a damned FP farm.’ He thought while looking around. Here and in the distance, there were assassins everywhere and they were attacking students.
Since several of them had bounties on their heads... he wanted to hunt them.
’If I get enough FP, I can buy a considerable set of items when this damned monthly drops.’
He already had a skill that he wanted in his head. He would compile things he needed and then search them up next time.
With that, he turned to the next person who had their eyes on him... a woman with three lines extending from one eyebrow to the other and half of her face covered in a transparent cloth that made her look vaguely Indian.
「Assassin: Trace」
「Bounty: 6,000 FP」
’She’s relatively lower but she’ll do.’ Koya thought as he moved in her direction and she braced herself with her twin daggers.
However, just before he could strike her, Trace was pierced in the head by a staff... an actual ALI staff.
It went in from behind and came up in front through her brain. The staff was released and Trace fell to the ground in a heap.
「Bounty Lost」
’Fuck!’
He thought as he looked at the person that caused him to lose FP. It was Mio... Perhaps it was because he hadn’t seen her in days but she was even more beautiful than before and was it just him or her chest looked slightly fuller despite being small?
"Koya-kun..." Her lips trembled as she closed the distance and hugged him.
He grew stiff and watched from above where Victoria was flying and glaring down at him with red eyes of doom.
’See, I’m not hugging her... I’m not.’ He thought, and then looked down at Mio who was clinging to him as if she didn’t want to let him go.
For someone that left him to die, she was uncharacteristically close.
’Hmph!’
Did she forget that she was one of the assassins too? Regardless, he pulled up her affection tab and his throat grew dry.
’W-what?’ He thought.
「Heroine: Kamemori Mio’s affection is currently at 57」
’When did she get here...?’ Koya blinked. ’Wasn’t it at ten or below the last time?’
「When you got to the Academy...」
So in short, her affection increased upon seeing his burst in strength... so her plan with him had something to do with him getting stronger, which was why her affection increased.
’Anyway, you said there was a bonus for getting a main heroine’s affection over 50?’ He thought. ’Pay up...’
「You have been rewarded 50,000 FP」
He could easily guess that this was from Misora which he had assumed was over 50. Now he looked down at Mio who was still hugging him and sighed.
"Let go." He said and she shivered a bit before letting go of him and looking into his eyes.
"Koya-kun... did I do something wrong?" She asked and Koya looked away from her while holding his sword, searching for more named assassins to hunt.
"No, get your head in the game... we’re being attacked. This is no time for hugs or catching up." Koya said and she nodded a bit while taking hold of her staff once more.
She bit her lip and her surroundings darkened... though it wasn’t the same for Koya. Nobody else could see this dark entity behind her... a silver-haired woman that looked exactly like her except her eyes were dark like the sky at night.
The Avatar placed a hand on her shoulder and smiled.
"He doesn’t like you anymore." It said and Mio bit her lip.
’I don’t really care... what I do care about is Numb fucking up and attacking the Academy. He wasn’t even given authorization.’ Mio thought and the Avatar let go of her before letting out a laugh.
"Then why don’t we go fuck him up ourselves? Should I take control...?" The avatar asked and Mio sighed inwardly.
’Let’s get out of this place first... you have to kill everyone except the ones from my Squad and make sure Koya-kun is safe. After all this, I still have to cook lunch for him to eat.’ She thought and the avatar laughed.
"I’ll do you one better... I’ll even seduce him. Well, let’s get this show on the road."
Before Mio could even talk back, the avatar faded into the air leaving her completely alone with Koya and the rest around her.
’It’s time to leave.’ She thought.
"Koya-kun... shouldn’t we join up with Saki-sensei?" Mio asked and Koya looked at her.
"Sure." He said while running forward to where Class 5 was. Saki had a confident smile on her face... At first she had created rectangular mana constructs to defend her students from attacks, and now these constructs were slowly turning into weapons.
’I can feel my mental energy getting fuller.’ She thought.
It wasn’t enough to use Creation Magic but it would be enough to defeat the ten assassins from the Order that had been gathered in front of her while protecting her own students and herself in a mana construct.
Just then, she saw Koya dashing toward them from the corner of her eye as well as Mio and she relaxed just a bit...
However, the moment she relaxed, Mio was pulled into the shadows by another Assassin that came out of nowhere and it made her eyes widen in alarm.
"Mio!"
But the girl was already gone, Koya glanced at where she had been and sighed.
’So she’s made her choice, huh? Whatever... as long as it doesn’t interfere with me.’ He thought and continued running forward.
Saki’s mana construct was pretty strong and not only that but she had created several swords in the air with the use of this mana... there were about thirty, and without warning, they whooshed down toward the Assassins while he was in attacking range so he jumped out of it.
The first assassin dove to the left and rolled, coming up in a crouch as a blade buried itself into the dirt where his head had been a second earlier.
He grinned and pushed off the ground to sprint forward then three more swords converged on him from different angles and he had to twist midair to avoid the first two.
The third caught him in the shoulder and pinned him to the ground. He screamed and tried to pull it out but a fourth blade came down and impaled him through the throat, silencing him.
Another assassin managed to deflect the first sword with her dagger, then the second, then the third... her movements were sharp and each parry perfectly timed but the fourth sword came from directly above and she had no angle to block it.
It went through her chest and out her back, lifting her off the ground before slamming her into the dirt.
A third assassin threw himself into a backward flip to avoid two blades at once, landed cleanly, and immediately had to leap again as another sword carved through the air where his legs had been.
He was fast... much faster than the others and he managed to weave between the next three strikes with economical movements. He almost made it out of the kill zone.
Then two swords came in from opposite sides and caught him in the chest and crotch simultaneously. His eyes went wide and he opened his mouth but no sound came out. He collapsed in a heap.
The remaining seven didn’t last much longer. The swords converged and pierced them one by one, killing them almost immediately.
Slowly the mana constructs began to vanish and Class 5 was mainly alright. Renji was on his knees while praying to the White King and Saki was taking a breather.
’Saki sure is strong.’ He thought.
Being able to control a mana construct like that to protect the other students while creating weapons made of mana to strike... He also wanted to see her actually fighting though that would have to wait.
In terms of mana, he could see why Saki was their professor.
"Koya..." She said as she looked at him in the eyes. Looking at his face brought a slight flush to her cheeks and he was even taller than her now.
Not like he wasn’t before but she prided herself on being tall for a woman at 5’10 however she still had to look up a bit to see him.
"Take it easy, Professor." He said and the rest of them looked at him. He had no scratches on his body despite fighting. "I’m going to help out the other classes in any way I can since I’m a four-liner and find Mio too."
He made it sound like a responsibility and several girls looked at him with starry eyes, but in reality, he was just going to find more named assassins for more FP.
"Let me come too..." Misora suggested however Koya gave her a look of no-nonsense.
"No you can’t. You’ll slow me down and besides... I don’t want to let you get hurt." He finished. His tongue felt bitter as he said that to the Class Rep and the glare intensified... however he was checking out something.
「ⓘ Heroine: Hakua Misora’s affection has increased to 60」
"O... Okay." Misora said while looking down at the ground with pink cheeks. All the girls and guys gave him looks, hell, even Saki did as well.
"Well don’t get hurt and find Mio too. I’ll take the students to the Underground Bunker for safety as long as it’s not been compromised." Saki said. "Please be safe... I have to reward you for helping me out."
With that, Koya turned the other way and with a Speed Burst, he vanished from their line of sight leaving a blue line of mana in his wake. Saki bit her lip and turned to the Class 5 students.
"Alright, Class 5... follow me! We’re heading to the Underground Bunker! I will protect all of you... Misora-chan, have you dealt with the ones that got burned?"
"Yes, I have administered first aid... Kote and the other guys are helping us carry them."
"Good, let’s go."
...
As Koya ran, Victoria landed on his shoulder.
"Stupid hubby..." She let out and Koya chuckled.
"You’re always so jealous. It’s cute when you get like that though I hope you’re not having thoughts of having me in a cage or something." Koya said.
Yanderes were very funny to read in novels, mangas and even watch in anime however a Yandere in real life was crazy... He once knew a guy who broke up with his Yandere girlfriend and she decided to stab him to death and then kill herself too so that they would die together since she couldn’t live without him.
Victoria grew stiff immediately.
’Have I been found out...?’ She thought.
"No hubby, I would never do that to you." She said. He wasn’t supposed to be suspicious of her. It was either the cage or she would chain him up somewhere... his interactions with the damn women in this Academy were getting too much.
Practically all of the girls in that group gave off the emotions that they liked him and some even wanted to pounce on him.
’Bunch of horny brats.’ She thought.
Koya stopped as he reached the Class 4 position and they were faring a lot worse than Class 5...
Surprisingly, there were about twenty assassins and they had bound the girls and boys on different sides.
Some that tried to fight were all left as corpses on the ground.
Professor Shusuke was on the ground trembling as Kisawa raised a sword to his neck.
"So you’re my boyfriend’s friend." Kisawa said and Koya prayed that she would kill Shusuke, however she let Shusuke fall face-first into the ground. "Where’s Renji?"
"I don’t know where that fucker is... however you’ll have to let these people go." He said while hiding his smiling face.
There were three named here including Kisawa that would give a total of 20k FP once he killed them. "Or you’ll have to go through me."
There was silence and Kisawa turned her spear to him venomously.
"Alright, kill him. I don’t like his face." Kisawa said and the twenty assassins moved toward Koya who didn’t stop smiling one bit.
He held his sword in a stance.
’This is just self-defense... so I’ll have to kill all of them.’
