Chapter 105: Two New Troublemakers

The front of the tower was completely full.

Not only were there the ALI students who had been resting in their Mega Bunks as well as the ones who had been out in the field, but three groups from Omni City were standing there too and they were still in their travel formation.

The Dean of Familiars stood at the front of everything and in the center of the gathering while five bodies lay covered in white cloth with only their heads showing.

"First of all, I welcome Class A, B and C from Omni Academy to Familiar Isle. You will be here alongside Keropolis City’s own ALI and I expect both academies to be respectful toward each other." Haruki said. "Since I have already covered most of the rules, I will keep it short... you are not allowed to manifest mana externally here, though you may use it internally for body strengthening. You are also not allowed to fight another student or use your status to force anyone into anything. It must be of their own free will if it happens. Classes A, B and C from Omni will be taking Mega Bunks 4, 5 and 6 respectively, located at the back of the tower."

He looked at the students for a moment and then sighed.

"Now, to address the elephant in the room. Not even three hours after bringing ALI here, we already have deaths from their side..." He looked at the five faces. "Two of these students belonged to Class 2 and three of them belonged to Class 5."

Koya looked at the faces from where he stood.

Three of them had been the exact same students he had saved from the Embermane Lions alongside Renji not long ago... he recognized the face of the one who had been running at the front of the group, the one who had come closest to getting caught before the rock throw had bought them distance.

They had apparently used that time that they were supposed to head back to go find something worse.

He stared at them for a moment.

’I should have just let them die.’ He thought.

At least the half-noble wasn’t among them... He still owed Koya Individual Points.

"The one thing all of them have in common is that they did the exact opposite of what the Guidebook advised... they approached the mountains." Haruki said, gesturing toward the bodies. "The guide is clear on this. There is a Familiar in those mountains that is not to be disturbed and the cost of ignoring that warning is your life. These five are the proof of that, their remains will be sent back to their families and I hope all of you—"

"Sir Dean, if you will." A hand went up. The young man who raised it had crimson hair and for a moment Koya genuinely thought he was looking at a male version of Akari... the resemblance was nearly identical. "If this Familiar is so dangerous, why is it still permitted on the Isle? Does the Dean not care for the safety of the students?"

The Dean turned to look at him fully, taking him in from top to bottom.

"And your name is?"

"Kagutsuchi Ryouma." He said. "From A-Class at Omni Academy and also the direct heir of the Kagutsuchi clan."

"Well, Ryouma... this specific Familiar serves an important function on the Isle that is beyond the scope of this conversation." Haruki said simply. "C series bots"

Several robots rolled out from the tower’s front door, identical to the B2 unit in the Class 5 Mega Bunk.

They unfolded mechanical arms and began assembling coffins on the spot, lifting each body carefully and sealing them in, then wheeling them inside without a sound. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

"As for the rest of you... Familiar hunting is suspended until tomorrow morning after breakfast. If you have already bonded with a Familiar, proceed to the registration room inside the tower. Those who haven’t, go and rest."

With that Haruki turned and walked back into the tower with the door closing behind him.

Ryouma moved immediately.

He crossed the space between himself and Itsuki in several quick steps, stopping in front of the Class 1 representative.

"Ah, Itsuki. A pleasure meeting you here." He gave Itsuki a slow look up and down.

He hadn’t forgotten the last time Itsuki had disgraced him. It was a shame that fighting was not allowed here or else... ’Wait. I can just do that.’

"It’s not much of a pleasure, Ryouma." Itsuki said flatly with a sigh. "Why don’t you take your students to their Mega Bunks?"

He walked away without looking back, heading toward Mega Bunk 1 at a pace that made it clear he was done.

Ryouma’s expression twitched once.

Around him the Omni Academy students had already begun dispersing without being told... some heading to the back of the tower and some moving toward the registration line, everyone was finding somewhere to be that wasn’t standing next to him waiting for direction.

He didn’t like that either.

His eyes moved across the gathered students and found someone. He took several steps in Koya’s direction then moved past him entirely and stopped in front of Akari.

"Lil sis~" He opened both arms. "Your Onii-chan is here. Why don’t you go ahead and greet him?~"

Koya’s eye twitched. He genuinely loved his own sister but he would never do that out in the open like this.

’Or should I?’

Akari went pink from her face all the way to the tips of her ears and she pushed away from him with both hands.

"Onii-chan, you’re being weird." She muttered with a pink face.

Ryouma looked past her and found the blond-haired young man standing nearby so he blinked at him.

"Ah, you’re Amaki Roya right?"

"..."

"Are you ignoring me?"

"..."

’I just have to ignore this guy.’ Koya thought.

Ryouma had a gold crest and zero actual feats in the manga besides irritating people. The only reason he had been in Class 1 at all was his status as the Kagutsuchi heir. ’But then again, the heroines changed so there’s a slim chance his personality shifted a bit too.’

Koya turned and extended his hand.

"I’m Amagi Koya." He said, looking at his own open hand. "Not Amaki Roya or whatever you just said."

Ryouma looked at the hand, then back at him.

"You don’t get to tell me what to call you. Just because you can wield blue flames like a Kagutsuchi doesn’t give you the right to act as if you’re equal to one of us... Hey, I’m not done talking! Get back here!"

Koya had already turned and was walking up the steps to the base of the tower. He rubbed the side of his head.

’Not today.’ He thought. ’I should just get the other two registered... or maybe I should delay it?’ Who knows? They might instill a rule afterward about someone not collecting more than two, and even if he had paid for two extras for Akemi and Yuna, he still wanted to make sure. ’Meh, I’ll delay it. For now I should be getting my Individual Points and Manual from tha-’

"Hey! Koya-kun!"

There was still a line at the base and it had grown longer with the Omni Academy students added to it.

The voice however had come from a familiar figure seated at one of the waiting tables waving at him which was the half-noble with the blackish-blue hair, sitting beside Miyuki of all people.

Koya walked over and sat down and the half-noble sat up straighter immediately.

"Ah, Hayate-kun." Miyuki said, looking between them with a small pleased expression. "I didn’t know you knew Koya-kun."

The Tidecub in her hands had been crying happy little noises at her face since she sat down and she was holding it like it had always been hers. "And Koya-kun, you seem to have gotten yourself a Familiar as well."

"Yes." He glanced up at the Cindervix pup sitting on his head.

She was looking at the Tidecub with interest. "I got what I wanted. And as for you, Hayate... do you have what I want?"

"Yes Koya-kun." He produced the guide from somewhere and returned it in one piece, which was genuinely surprising given the day he had apparently had. "Even with your guide I wasn’t able to get anything at all and was instead ripped off of all my food packs."

He deflated with a long exhale and Koya nearly scoffed.

He was exactly the weak type of people that the Cindervixes had always enjoyed taking meals from while giving absolutely nothing in return.

"Don’t worry, Hayate-kun." Miyuki said, and the smile she gave him was a real one. "You’ll handle it better next time. I believe in you."

"Thank you Miyuki-chan." Hayate pumped his fist like he had been handed a championship trophy. "With your praise I’m sure I’ll get the Silkstrike Mink next time since it corresponds so well with my affinity."

"Silkstrike Mink?" Miyuki’s eyes went wide. "Hayate-kun, are you trying to get yourself killed?"

Hayate let out a nervous "Hehehe" and scratched the back of his head while Koya pulled the guide open to the relevant entry and looked at it.

"Ah?" He looked at the page. It was a Lightning / Sound type weasel familiar which would be perfectly fit for Yuna. "Nice... you’re a lifesaver, Hayate."

"Lifesaver? I’m not sure I—"

"Here’s my QR code for the Individual Points." Koya said, holding up his phone.

"Alright." Hayate scanned it without hesitation and 30,000 transferred over immediately.

"Thanks for doing business with me. I appreciate it and I hope you get the Silkstrike Mink that you want."

"Aw, thank you Koya-kun." Hayate said with a genuinely warm smile. "I hope you get what you want too and more."

Koya could genuinely feel that this guy was being very genuine and he couldn’t help but think if this halfling was really a half-noble?

"Miyuki-chan... you seem to have a very peculiar set of people around you."

The voice came from behind and Koya watched Miyuki’s face go pale before he even turned around.

A boy from Omni Academy’s A-Class stood approaching them with light pink hair that was slicked back and pink eyes as well with several students from B-Class positioned behind him like they came with the territory.

He was Kurohane Takeru and Miyuki’s fiancé.

The Kurohane clan sat at number 6 in the Great Clan rankings while the Aoyora clan sat at number 3 so Koya didn’t know why they were marrying downward.

The engagement was political and the manga hadn’t gone into the specific reasoning but political was always the reason, and Takeru had a particular behavior with Miyuki that the word obsessive described fairly accurately.

His eyes moved over the table and settled on Koya, looking at him with hate in his two pink eyes.

"You... Amagi Koya." He said. "I heard that you have been very close with my fiancée and that the two of you went into the forest together today... Alone."

Miyuki spoke before Koya could.

"He helped me get my Familiar, Takeru-san." She held up the Tidecub. It looked at Takeru with completely neutral curiosity and Takeru’s face moved briefly... he had a small grimace however it only took a second for him to be completely composed again.

"I see." He said. "You could have waited for me, Miyuki-chan and isn’t san a bit too formal between us?"

"Uh..." She didn’t meet his eyes and instead was looking at the Tidecub.

Takeru sighed quietly while Koya stood up.

Getting tangled in this man’s business was the same as getting tangled with Ryouma... the only result was time wasted and a headache and though something about watching Miyuki go quiet and small like that sat in the wrong place, she needed room to find her own way through it.

He wasn’t her designated problem solver and walking into the middle of someone else’s engagement was not something he was doing today.

"Amagi..." Takeru’s voice followed him as he turned. "Amagi Koya."

’Why is he calling my full name like a slur?’

Koya kept moving.

"The next opportunity I have... I will remove you from this world." Takeru said.

"Yeah yeah. Whatever." Koya said and kept walking without breaking stride.

The Kurohane clan’s specialty was Frame Magic... they perceived the world in discrete still frames rather than continuous flow when they activated their magic, and it worked by slipping the body between those frames to create the effect of simply vanishing and reappearing elsewhere.

In a straight fight it was genuinely one of the more irritating abilities to deal with because there was no trajectory to read and no wind-up to catch.

He wanted nothing to do with it today... or anytime soon honestly.

"Koya-kun." Miyuki murmured under her breath as she watched his back, shifting uncomfortably in her seat.

If she didn’t have a fiancé sitting down next to her right now they could have had lunch together and she could have told him about the moves Bubbles had already started showing... which was the name she had given the Tidecub while Koya wasn’t here.

"Alright, Miyuki-chan." Takeru slid into the seat Koya had just vacated and moved it closer to her. "We can talk properly now... Tell me about your day."

Hayate opened his mouth.

"My day has been really—"

Takeru turned and looked at him, it was not a complicated look. It simply communicated with complete clarity that Hayate did not exist in this conversation then he turned back to Miyuki like a switch had flipped and smiled.

"So, Miyuki-chan. Go on."

...

Koya sighed as he opened the door to his room in the Megabunk. The rations were here and it seemed to be chicken ramen.

’I’ll go get some when I’m don-’ His jaw fell open, his desk was now filled with several books and there were several different kinds of clothes in his cupboard as well, all hung up with hangers. The floor was also clean as well and a certain black-haired girl was in a maid costume cleaning the window sill.

Upon hearing the door open, Mio turned around and her eyes met Koya. A blush crept onto her cheeks.

"K-Koya-kun?" She murmured and he stepped inside, upon another glancing at the desk, the cameras had been unplugged and crushed there. "Welcome back. I made a thorough sweep of your room and removed all of these cameras as well as cleaned up."

"Why are you wearing that?" He asked while looking at her. Not that he hated the look, she looked amazing honestly and although she didn’t have much chest, she made up for it with the way her ass pushed against her maid dress.

He almost felt in the mood.

"Ahem..." She said however she bowed her head, unable to face him and then her hair grew completely white as Pale made an appearance. "I knew that you had already figured out that both of us were one, either that or Hakai told you."

Pale placed a hand on her waist as her chest became fuller, it was really hard to imagine that these two were the same people.

"Mio apparently has a maid fetish and wants you to fuck her while she’s wearing a maid costume. She also has a degradation kink." Pale spoke truthfully, she could Mio’s dreams and well, a young woman’s kinks were really something worth being afraid of.

"Heh. Stop lying and say why you two are here already?" Koya asked.

"Well Master Hakai got in contact and said that while we’re here, we are meant to protect you and also act as your personal maid in the meantime." She replied while ripping off her maid clothes revealing the bra and panties she wore, the breasts were pushing against the bra so hard that the latches were loosening. "Come on Koya-kun, let’s speedrun this romance anime thing and make some babies already!"
