Heroes' Prison-Chapter 1111 - 1052: Deadly Toxin (Part 2)
The rest of the group consisted of Lu Ye, Witch Doctor Zawak, Toxic Sorcerer Riesel, and other scientific research experts. However, they appeared pale and unsteady, as if they had suffered severe injuries.
Huang Yi looked at them, then at the building sealed by a barrier in the distance, and asked, "What on earth happened here?"
Bloodhand Asura turned to gaze at the spire building sealed by the barrier and said gravely, "I just received a distress signal from Lu Ye. He said that in his laboratory, a deadly poison leaked a slight trace, seriously injuring them. I quickly rescued them, moved all nearby scientific personnel, and released a barrier to isolate that laboratory. However, the source of the poison is still inside. If not dealt with promptly, once it’s fully released, all life on the Hero’s Continent will be poisoned to death!"
"All life on the entire continent will be poisoned to death?!" Huang Yi was instantly shocked, turning to Lu Ye, "What kind of toxin is it? It’s so formidable!" 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
"It’s the mysterious liquid you stole from the underground laboratory of the Blood Castle!" Lu Ye forced himself to speak, panting, and said weakly, "Recently, Witch Doctor Zawak, Toxic Sorcerer Riesel, and I, along with other poison experts, have studied it for a long time and finally unveiled the mystery of that droplet! Now I understand why the Naga valued this droplet so much!"
As Lu Ye spoke, his eyes flashed with terror, and he swallowed hard: "That droplet is the legendary poison of the universe — the Kiss of Death. It is the snake poison secreted by the most powerful race of the ancient First World — the Nasash! The droplet of the Kiss of Death you brought back is an elite version, likely secreted by a God Sealer of the Nasash. It can even kill a demigod! Fortunately, it’s contained in a Divine Crystal Vial, and we’ve been extremely cautious while researching, only opening a tiny slit of the vial. Still, a slight trace accidentally seeped out — the colorless, odorless gas that even we poison experts didn’t detect until we were paralyzed on the ground, only then we realized we were poisoned, and urgently had Bloodhand Asura rescue us. If we delayed any longer, you might not have seen any of us."
Huang Yi was shocked to discover that the poison he had stolen had such a significant background. It seemed the Nagas went all out, seeking to acquire the Divine Nectar of those bee insects at any cost, even bringing over a drop of the Kiss of Death! They must have intended to use it against experts of the Demon Clan.
Lu Ye’s expression turned serious as he looked at the spire building surrounded by barriers in the distance and said, "God of Slaughter, that drop of the Kiss of Death is incredibly terrifying! It’s like a ticking time bomb if kept here. We need to send someone into that laboratory promptly to reseal the Divine Crystal Vial according to strict laboratory procedures. However, this might cost a life, and even a Semigod Guardian may never return. There’s a grave question now... who should we sacrifice?"
The atmosphere became heavy at his words.
Everyone gazed at the distant spire building, which looked no different than usual, but at this moment, it was akin to hell — entering it meant certain death.
"How about I go in?" At that moment, a player from the pharmaceutical profession volunteered, "I am a Heaven-Sent Man, have a special constitution, and can resurrect after death, only losing one level, which isn’t too significant a loss."
"It’s not that simple!" Lu Ye shook his head, "The toxicity of the Kiss of Death acts on the soul; even a Heaven-Sent Man using Invincible Skills can only temporarily save his life. Once the invincibility period runs out, death is inevitable. Worse, this death is continuous — even after resurrection, you’ll still be poisoned and will die again, endlessly! Plus, an average Heaven-Sent Man will be poisoned to death before making it to the laboratory unless they are exceptionally powerful!"
The player stuck out his tongue, no longer speaking.
"Let me go in!" Suddenly, Huang Yi spoke up, his voice calm and steady.
The whole place was momentarily stupefied, then erupted in shock!
"What?! You’re going to sacrifice yourself?!"
"You’re the leader of the Hero Empire; we can’t afford to sacrifice you!"
"Big Brother God of Slaughter, let me go in! Your life is far more valuable than mine! You must not die!"
For a time, everyone began to persuade him.
Lu Ye also solemnly stared at Huang Yi and said, "God of Slaughter, do you think this is just an incarnation, so it doesn’t matter if you sacrifice it? It’s not that simple; once your incarnation is poisoned, your true self will be implicated too!"
Huang Yi shook his head and smiled, "Everyone’s life is equal, and my life is no nobler than anyone else’s. When it is time for me to sacrifice, I should do so without hesitation. I decided to go in because I happen to have a means that might avoid being poisoned to death!"
————
I’ve returned from my travels, spanning about half a month, during which I didn’t update, I apologize sincerely.
Once again, I need to address the update issue. The speed of updates for this book has slowed significantly. Both my creative inspiration and my mental state are no match for how they were before. Previously, during normal times, I could deliver five to six thousand words per day, but now it’s tough to match that pace. My health is very poor, with frequent problems, and mentally hazy, a state I haven’t overcome in a long time. If something comes up in real life or I feel unwell, or lack inspiration, I might not update. As you all might have noticed, the content of these later sections lacks the allure it once had, completely incomparable to before, and this is even after I’ve tried my best.
This illness has ravaged not just my health but also my creativity. Now sitting in front of the computer, I can’t write anything, it feels like my inspiration has been drained, and I can’t find it back. Whether watching movies or traveling, these are external means to seek inspiration. True quality inspiration is internal, elusive, and very mysterious, something that used to spontaneously appear as I typed line by line, a feeling I often had before but no longer do.
It could also be a matter of focus; previously, most of my attention was on the novel, but now my focus is more on my health and life, only a small part remains on writing.
This book only has a few hundred thousand words left. Once it’s completed, when I start a new story, perhaps I’ll rediscover that writing feeling I once had!
You don’t need to chase updates every day; that would be very tiring. Read when there’s an update, and when there isn’t, enjoy other books! Or you can wait for my new book, which will be released once this "Heroes’ Prison" is finished within the year. The promise of additional Chapters for readers might be fulfilled in the new book.
Moreover, I haven’t checked the book review section recently, and I just noticed in the backstage that "Southern Emperor," among other readers, has rewarded many Qidian Coins, so I would like to extend my thanks here collectively.
