Hero or Villain, Both-Chapter 78: Sacred Shell (3)
Chapter 78: Sacred Shell (3)
"So it’s the exact same as in the game." I said to myself before suddenly heading towards one of the passages that was in front of me.
Though there were many different passages that were leading out of this main hall, I didn’t hesitate to choose the one that I was walking down.
That was because I already knew that it was the right path.
Everything about this place was the same, down to the very number of corridors that were here.
So that was why I knew that this was the right path.
As for what this first trial was, it was a labyrinth.
It was supposed to be a test of one’s endurance and patience since this was a labyrinth that was extremely wide and winding. There wouldn’t just be a single split, there would be multiple splits that were spread out all over the labyrinth.
At the same time, there were many different items that had to be collected before one could even open the door that was at the end of this labyrinth.
So it wasn’t as if one could just push through to the end, they had to find all of these different items to even pass this trial.
That was why it had been considered a tough trial until someone noticed something...
"Left, right, second left, third right, then we keep going forward here." I muttered under my breath as I continued forward without any hesitation.
I didn’t even bother looking at the different corridors that were in this labyrinth as I continued forward while reciting the directions like they were some kind of spell.
That was because I knew exactly where to go.
The one thing that had broken this first trial was that someone had discovered that it wasn’t a random generated puzzle. They found that since it was so complicated, it was impossible for them to get the algorithm to build a puzzle that would be solvable every time.
Out of fear that it would create some kind of soft lock if they had it set to be a random generated puzzle, they chose to keep it the same every time. That meant that as long as a person beat it once, they would be able to beat it a second time as long as they remembered where they went.
But since this place was supposed to be a one off puzzle, they thought that no one would ever visit this place again. It was just that the developers had completely underestimated the people that played this game.
In fact, it only took one person doing a second playthrough to realize that the puzzle was completely the same.
So once the guide was posted, this puzzle had turned into a joke in the community.
The puzzle that had once been considered the hardest was now considered nothing more than a simple walk.
And as for me who had played this game many different times on many different characters, I naturally had the path memorized without even needing to access it online.
Now it was all about...
"Hmm, that was a bit slow reaching the first key. I feel like I dragged my foot a bit when starting out since it’s different running this maze in person."
"I need to use wind magic to speed myself up. I’m really falling behind pace at this rate."
"Almost there, almost at the last key. I wonder if the glitch with that wall still works even though this is a real world now."
When I finished gathering all of the keys in the labyrinth and headed to the exit, I couldn’t help constantly looking at the watch that was on my hand.
"Time!" I shouted as soon as I put the last key into the door.
"Creak."
I just completely ignored the sound of the door opening as I looked down at my watch. As I looked at my watch, there was a faint smile that slowly crept onto my face.
That was because...
"A new PB! I never thought that even after transmigrating, I would be able to set a PB like this!"
The one thing that the community had done was turned this labyrinth into a sort of speedrun that even had its own category. As one of the devoted gamers of this game, I had naturally done the same in my playthroughs.
As I looked at the time though, there was a part of me that couldn’t help wondering...
"Isn’t this not just a PB, but also a world record? I think that it’s actually two minutes faster than the previous world record."
The one rule that had been set was that only characters of certain levels would be able to do this speedrun and my current avatar was at that level. That was why I had thought about doing that speedrun in the first place.
It didn’t take long for me to realize what it was.
It was the Shared Stats Skill, it could only be that Shared Stats Skill.
After all, it wasn’t as if I had anything else that was broken.
I couldn’t help admiring my stats at this point.
Now that I had five avatars, the stats had really stacked up to the point where I was considered broken. With these stats, there was nothing in the early game that I wouldn’t be able to take care of.
And there was still the fact that there was a sixth avatar that was waiting to be created.
At this rate, it seemed like we would be able to take over the world with ease...
"But what’s the fun in that? Playing the different roles and putting on a proper show is the best way to enjoy this." I said to myself before turning to look at the door that had opened in front of me.
I had completely ignored this door since it had been opening still.
The one annoying thing about this trial was how slow the doors opened.
It was still the same even though this was a completely different world now.
This trial really was a carbon copy of the one from the game.
