Help! Five Beast Alphas Want To Breed Me!!(BL)-Chapter 291: If It’s All I Can Give Them
Elián;
"I think she likes you." Queen Selthía says as I stare at Torsha who has curled around my shoulder to rest, while glowing softly.
"She’s a serpent of innocence. Our history says her kind was formed when Nagari’s first child goddess wept. Torsha’s kind only respond to magic designed to stimulate their mana... or to innocent souls... hearts which hold more light than hate, anger, or malice." She says, and I blink.
"She’s a snake Lúmira?" I question, and just then, the air around Queen Selthía’s shoulders shifts.
Lúmira appears, curled around her like a shawl. The snake tilts its head at me as if curious that I called her name.
She hisses gently, and Torsha who’s resting over my shoulders raises her head.
Queen Selthía and I stop walking as Lúmira reaches for me.
I hold out a hand, and the gentle beauty that looks like a peaceful river that took a serpent’s form, curls around my arm till she’s face to face with Torsha.
Torsha hisses softly, and Lúmira rubs her head against Torsha. Something I didn’t know serpents do.
"What is she doing?" I question, and Queen Selthía smiles as she holds out her hand.
Lúmira turns back to Queen Selthía, slithers off me, and back to her mother.
"She was giving Torsha strength." She replies, and I smile at the snake.
Lúmira then hisses at me again. Almost like a goodbye.
"Lúmira is a serpent of peace. Torsha is a serpent of innocence. Lúmira’s kind are mostly blue, and when Torsha is back to full health, she’ll glow white." She explains and my jaw drops forming an ’o’.
"She likes you, cause you have a good heart." She informs, andI feel a blush heat up my cheeks as we start walking again.
I let the silence settle for a while.
After getting the rune right, Queen Selthía suggested that we take a walk. However, I know she did it to keep me away from her other works.
I don’t mind though. I came here to talk to her about something anyway. I just got distracted...
We soon get to a balcony, and Queen Selthía’s steps slow to a stop.
It overlooks a training field and just there, in the middle, are Zephan and Zethar.
"Come on, brother! Don’t tell me a few weeks of being a father and pampering your Omega has made you a little Wuss!" Zethar yells, bouncing from side to side as he studies Zephan’s stance.
"You talk too much for someone who’s in the same situation as me... soon to be uncle." Zephan taunts back, and my interest is piqued.
"Okay! Rule one! Whoever wins this, gets to train the baby, and avoid changing the baby’s napkin when they soil it!" Zethar yells, and I raise a brow as I instinctively hold my stomach.
"Oh, heavens..." Queen Selthía mutters beside me, but I don’t take my eyes off the brothers.
"You’re too much of a lunatic to teach my niece or nephew anything that has to do with weapons! You’re going to eat dust... for the baby’s sake!" Zephan replies and I find myself nodding in agreement.
"I’m team Zephan. That sea storm isn’t putting our baby on any training field!" Elien scoffs, and I smile as I look down at my stomach.
My baby really is going to have quite the life with uncles as crazy as these.
I watch as they tackle themselves without weapons and as they tumble to the ground laughing, my heart warms.
I realise in this moment... that I love them. Both of them.
Not just one... Not one over the other... but both. My mind has lost the ability to think of a world or life without them.
Zephan laughs, soft but genuine, his hand lifting instinctively to hold his chest as he laughs. Zethar on the other hand pushes Zephan off him as he laughs too.
"You look like you can’t cause havoc, but you’re just as much a psycho as I am when you’re put to the test!" Zethar groans, and my smile grows in amusement.
They both roll onto their backs, panting and suddenly, a cloud of black covers Zethar. I watch as the screen of smoke covers his legs and soon a tail as black as shadows emerges.
I stare at his beautiful scales and then a cloud of blue covers Zephan’s legs. His blue tail emerges as well, and both brothers, half transformed, starkly different and still so glaringly alike twist something inside me.
"They’re so beautiful..." I mutter, as I lean against the railing and stare at them.
"These past few weeks have been the happiest I have ever seen them," Queen Selthía whispers as she moves to stand beside me, also staring at them, and I turn to her.
Now is the time to bring up what I came to talk about. Earlier today, when Zephan and Zethar had that argument about having a mother, I heard.
How could I not? After Zepha placed me on the bed, sleep abandoned me.
"Do you think they’re happy?" I ask Queen Selthía gently, and she pauses.
"Yes," She answers without hesitation.
"This palace used to echo. Even with them in it... Especially with them in it. They were usually so distant...cold." She adds as she looks back at the brothers who are having some kind of tail wrestling...
"Nagari was... heavy. After my sister died, the walls seemed to remember it. Everything felt muted. Even the boys didn’t quite learn to laugh in time." She says, and I look back up at her with sadness building in my heart.
There’s shame and guilt in her eyes, and although I hate to see her like this, it at least gives me hope that my intervention might yield results.
Below, Zethar says something sharp and irreverent. Zephan snorts inelegantly, covering his mouth too late. The realest I think I’ve ever seen him be.
I think only Zethar can bring out this side of him. It’s adorable.
"Now, because of you..." Queen Selthía continues, bringing my attention back to her.
"They breathe more freely. They smile without restraint. I did not realise how starved they were for this... ease." She adds, and I stay quiet for a moment.
"Even so," I begin softly, "their happiness is not complete," I add, rendering the hurt that radiated off them just moments ago.
To think they were arguing a while back, and now, they’re all smiles.
"What do you mean?" Queen Selthía questions in worry, but I don’t look at her.
My gaze stays on the men below.
"A lover," I start carefully— Wanting to pass my message, but not cross the line.
"A lover can never take the place of a mother," I whisper, too afraid to look up at her after what I just said.
From the corner of my eye, I see her straighten with her fingers tightening against the stone railing.
"They are grown," She replies, with her voice measured. Like she’s trying to convince her.
"They no longer need me—" She adds, but I cut her off.
"They do," I interrupt gently. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
"They have always needed you. They still do." I add, staring at the brothers...
My Alphas.
Zephan is speaking to Zethar, with his tone calm and steady as he explains something. Zethar is listening keenly, and I watch as Zethar flips his tail over Zephan, and Zephan just lets him.
"They learned early not to ask," I continue...speaking from a place of familiar pain.
"...Not to reach for what would not be given," I whisper as my gaze drops to my hands.
"I know what it is to grow without a mother," I add with a small, bitter scoff.
"To live as though you are complete while knowing there is a hollow space inside you that no amount of strength or pretence can fill," I add, and I feel Queen Selthía looking at me.
"I never had one," I add quietly.
"No mother to soften the world for me. No arms that felt like safety. I learned to survive without it. But surviving is not the same as healing." I add, finally looking up at Queen Selthía with a small smile.
My eyes drift back to the field.
Zephan has sat up now, tail coiled beneath him as he listens to Zethar who has his back to us and is speaking animatedly.
There is laughter again, restrained but real as Zephan watches his brother, protective even in this peacefulness.
"They do not blame you," I add, and when I look back at Queen Selthía, there are tears in her eyes.
"They do not blame themselves, either, but they carry the weight all the same," I add, and a tear slides down her cheek.
One she quickly wipes.
"My sister’s death..." She begins, voice faltering, and I cut her off.
"Was a mishap of labour," I say, and she blinks at me.
"It was a tragedy. Not a punishment. Not a consequence of their birth." I add, almost defensive of the brothers now, and she closes her eyes.
"They are all you have," I say softly.
"And you are all they have," I add, and I fall silent. Letting the truth of it settle like a weight.
"Queen Selthía, they are not asking for perfection," I speak now, almost pleading.
"They just need to be seen. To be claimed. To be loved openly." I add, now shamelessly begging on their behalf.
I know what it’s like to not have a mother. They act like they are okay, but they are not okay!! I would know!
Below, Zephan looks up at us, and I freeze.
His head tilts in both surprise and confusion, and I struggle to keep my expression from betraying me.
He offers a small smile, and my chest tightens.
Queen Selthía returns the smile awkwardly, uncertain, and immediately looks away.
"I don’t know how to fix this," She whispers, and I take a deep breath as I reach out and hold both her hands.
"Then do not fix it. Just begin." I say, and silence stretches between us.
"I am afraid," She admits, and I smile.
"That means you care," I reply, and this time, Sha the one who draws a slow breath.
"I will try," She says finally, and my smile grows into a massive grin.
"Really!?" I exclaim, and she nods.
"Promise me," I beg, and she hesitates for only a moment.
"I promise to try." She then replies, and just then, Zethar rises suddenly, stretching his arms over his head, and cracking his neck with a sharp roll.
He says something that makes Zephan chuckle, and my cheek starts to hurt from how much I’m smiling.
I may not be able to do much for Zephan and Zethar, but if fixing their family is the only gift I can give them? So be it!
My Alphas need to know I care about them, and can not stand them hurting.
Now that this is done, I need to go try to help Alana.
I’m to send her back to Gravemaw tomorrow morning. Before she goes, I need to know the deal with this Asa girl and if sending Alana is really the right thing to do.
