Chapter 160: The Mark Of A Premodial

Queen Cassia;

I walk into the garden, and Hilda rushes over to me.

"Welcome, your Grace." She greets, and the mild excitement in her voice gives me a bit of hope.

"You seem excited," I note, and she smiles.

"They’ve gone silent. They finally stopped." She says, and my heart leaps.

"They have!?" I repeat, and she smiles happily at me before nodding.

I let out a breath before picking up a pace.

It’s been five days. Five days!!

Elian’s heat, and Koda’s rut, was a mix far more intense than I thought it would be.

Typically, Koda’s rut lasts three days.

But five days!?

Five days without food or water. Just endless sex.

That ought to break a record somewhere.

Surely, I must get a grandchild out of this.

.

"I went to open the door this morning. Alpha Koda is in the Queen’s chambers waiting for you." She informs, and my heart skips a beat.

Koda. He’s finally awake.

He hasn’t had food or water in five days... he must be so frail.

My pace quickens as I rush into the castle and to the stairs, up to what ought to be my room if I lived in this castle.

I push the doors open, and slumped on one of the chairs in the room is Koda.

He looks up at me, and my eyes immediately scan him.

I thought he would be much leaner. I mean... he’s lost some weight, but it’s nothing as alarming as I thought. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖

"Mama." He calls as soon as he sees me, and my heart aches.

He stands up, and I rush over to him.

I throw my arms around him and hug him.

I’m so relieved to see him. I don’t know what I feel right now, but just being able to set my eyes on him right now gives my heart so much peace.

"I’m sorry, ma... For the way I spoke to you while..." He begins, but I cut him off.

"It’s okay, Koda. It was your rut. I understand that." I reply, and he sighs.

"What I... What I don’t understand is why my rut started so... suddenly..." He says in a voice that still shows his exhaustion, and immediately, I remember Elian.

I step away from Koda as I stare at him, and my eyes zero in on all the scratches, the slightly purple patches, and bite marks that have decorated his skin.

My eyes dart to his neck, which is covered by his hair, which he’s let down, and my heart starts thundering at the fear of what I might find if I move his hair away.

"Ma... is something wrong?" He questions, and I ignore him.

I step closer to him and brush the hair over his right shoulder away.

My heart flops to my feet as I stare at the healed bite mark with dried blood around it.

I stagger backwards as my eyes flick to Koda’s face, and he stares at me in fear and confusion.

"Mother, what...?" He begins, but I cut him off.

"Elian... Elian marked you??" I demand, and he takes his hand up to his neck like he’s just remembering it.

"Oh... It’s one weird thing he did yesterday." He replies, and my heart starts screaming in my chest as I stare at him.

"But I warned you not to let it happen!!" I scream, and his face scrunches in frustration.

"Ma, neither of us could control ourselves. Besides... what’s his mark going to do to me? He’s my omega. To be honest, it’s... adorable that he thought he could mark me." He replies, and I can’t help but slap my palm against my forehead as I turn away from him.

I start pacing as panic flares in my system.

It happened. It actually happened.

What do I do now?? Do I write another letter to Wilhelm and ask him to come immediately??

This is a disaster!!

"Mother, why do you look so worried? Elian’s mark can’t cause any harm. He’s an omega, Mother..." He begins, and I’ve had enough.

"That’s where you’re wrong, Koda! Elian is not an ordinary omega! He’s a primordial. Elian is a primordial, Koda!" I scream, and he pauses.

"A primordial’s mark has the power to change a person’s designation, depending on the primordial’s thoughts, wishes, or intentions during the marking!" I add in annoyance, and he stays frozen as he stares at me.

"Wh-what?" He stutters, and I sigh.

This is not how I hoped to tell him.

No, I don’t even want to tell him. I wanted Elian to tell him when he was ready to share his truth with Koda, but I don’t have a choice now, do I?!

"If Elian marked you with the thought, or intention of claiming ownership of you... You stand a high chance of losing your title and identity as an Alpha. You are going to become an omega." I add, and Koda blinks at me.

A small smile splits his face, and then a nervous, shaky laugh follows.

"That’s hilarious, Mother..." He laughs, and I glare at him.

"Do I look like I’m joking!? Why do you think I was trying so hard to keep you away from him when the rut started? Why do you think his scent is so strong?! Haven’t you noticed the added prosperity that came with his arrival in Gravemaw? Surely you always knew deep down that he’s more than some simple Omega!" I snap, and his smile vanishes.

I rush over to Koda and grab his arms in biting fear and growing panic.

"Elián is a primordial, Koda. That mark... on your neck... it could be the start of a life you are not ready for. You’ve lived all your life as an Alpha. You can not. You absolutely can not become an Omega. You’re BeastHeaven’s next king. And that boy needs an Alpha. He has no idea what he’s done by marking you!" I add, and slowly, I watch fear flood his eyes.

"Elián... is a primordial...?" He questions, and the betrayal in his voice sends a shiver down my spine.
