HEIRESS REBORN: MARRYING HER EX-FIANCÉ-Chapter 77: A Sweet December to Remember (2)
’’You’re not coming home early?’’
’’...No, I’m not. Is there a problem?’’
Ayana was on a call with Noah as she entered the black SUV, and the vehicle drove down to her favorite French restaurant.
’’Someone’s unhappy that his elder sister is already late for Christmas Eve.’’ Noah chuckled lightly.
’’You promised! You promised to come home by 6pm, sis!’’ As if on cue to his words, Ayana’s ears pricked at the familiar shout coming from the background.
Who else could it be but her little brother, Jason?
’’I did no such thing, Jason.’’ She raised a brow, unimpressed by her little brother’s talent at twisting her words. He had a knack for such when he wanted something from her.
’’No! You clearly did!’’ He argued right back. ’’I asked you this morning, and you said you’ll try to come home as early as possible!’’
’’.....’’ Well, she couldn’t deny that.
Jason indeed wanted her home early for Christmas Eve, and she had told him that she would try best to come home from work early.
’’Well, there you have it! So, what’s our President Kingston’s excuse this time?’’ Noah’s amusement practically radiated through the phone call.
’’.....’’ Ayana didn’t respond right away. His words definitely hit a nerve, making her feel as though she was always coming up with excuses when it came to her family.
Particularly Jason.
’’You have not nothing to say?’’
’’Well...’’ Ayana’s hesitation to speak was clear. Should she tell them that she was having a dinner date with Axel soon? Ayana had never been vocal about her relationship with her fiancé to Noah or Jason.
’’I have to meet someone soon.’’ She just gave up and just revealed the truth to them.
Well...half of the truth.
’’Someone? At this time of the night?’’ She could hear the confusion from Noah. ’’Who orders the President Kingston to put her holidays aside for a meeting at almost 8:00pm?’’ The confusion changed to a clear suspicion.
’’.....’’
’’You’re not telling me something, Ayana.’’
’’...’’
’’...Is it your fiancé?’’ Noah got his guess right on the first trial.
’’.....’’
’’I am definitely correct, right? He’s only the one I can think of.’’ Ayana caught the hint of pride in his tone. She could imagine Noah patting himself on the back for guessing right.
’’...You’re right.’’ Ayana approved of his guess. ’’He wants us to spend Christmas Eve together at Étoile Royale. I will probably arrive home very late.’’
’’So he’s back in the city, huh? Well, who am I to stop you lovebirds from meeting each other? You might as well enjoy your whole night with him.’’
’’...’’ 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
’’Just make sure he doesn’t try funny business on you. He might look like the best and perfect son-in-law on the surface, but deep down, men are always men. You had taken those self-defense classes for a reason. Put them in good use, my dear sister.’’
Ayana was quite speechless, yet her cheeks were slightly pink as she understood what Noah was insinuating to her. This was the reason why she had never been vocal about her relationship. Noah did not have a filter, just like the annoying Matt.
’’You’re a man, aren’t you?’’ She shot back, quite defensive of her fiancé. Ayana had a strong faith in her fiancé. He wouldn’t touch her or force her without permission. Besides that, why was Noah speaking as if he wasn’t of the same gender?
’’I’m older and very matured. Your fiancé’s type is not the first I’ve seen in my life.’’ He said so righteously on the phone.
’’...’’

In the Kingston mansion, Jason stood on the side of the couch in the parlor and watched as Noah ended the call with his elder sister.
’’So, is sis coming home early?’’ He immediately pressed for answers.
Compared to years ago, Jason was older and mature. His round hazel eyes were becoming narrow and his cheeks had lost bits of its chubbiness. His face, similar to Ayana, revealed hints of the handsome youth he would become in the future.
Noah stared at the eleven-year-old in green pajamas with the pattern of a snowman and a Christmas tree. The little guy had really been anticipating the Christmas Eve with his elder sister.
Noah gave an apologetic smile. ’’She will come late.’’
In his mind, he spewed a million curses on Axel Kratos for stealing Ayana from her little brother. Jason had grown literally before his eyes. He was like a son to him.
Ayana too....because of love, she had literally forgotten her family.
Noah inwardly tsked. No wonder fathers liked to protect their daughters from the big bad wolves.
’’Because of her fiancé?’’ Jason frowned, recalling that Noah mentioned the word fiancé. This wasn’t his first time of hearing such.
’’Sorry, Jason.’’ Noah did not answer directly, but he knew that Jason should understand the meaning behind his apology.
’’Hmph!’’ The twelve-year-old grumbled with a snort. ’’Sister chose a stranger over her little brother. When I grow up, I will definitely do the same with my girl.’’ He vowed as he marched away angrily.
His girl?!
Noah almost choked on the spot. How could a twelve-year-old have thoughts like this?
On the other hand, Jason was fuming in his heart, and he was the one to hold a tight grudge.
The fiancé of his elder sister.....that man shouldn’t think of snatching his elder sister that easily from him!
Axel Kratos remained blissfully unaware that he had already entered the bad books of his future younger brother-in-law.
Meanwhile, Ayana smoothly arrived at Étoile Royale. As a regular at the French restaurant, the security recognized her vehicle and quickly the door for her.
He carefully closed the door and greeted politely. ’’Welcome President Kingston.’’.
Ayana nodded with a faint smile.
’’Thank you and Merry Christmas.’’ She gave the security a tip before furthering her steps into the restaurant.
’’Welcome President Kingston.’’ The hostess also recognized Ayana and welcomed with a professional smile. ’’President Kratos has reserved a VIP room.’’
’’Thank you and Merry Christmas.’’ Ayana nodded with the same smile. Her black knee-boot clicked against the marble floor as another hostess guided her to the VIP room.
’The cold’s not here.’ She was pleased with the heat system of the VIP room once she stepped inside. Ayana took off her black winter gloves and grey winter coat before setting them side on the first dining chair.
She then sat on the opposite and placed her small purse on the dining table.
’Now, I’ll wait.’ Ayana briefly glanced around the VIP room, then took out her phone for the time. ’He should have landed at the airport if he left Paris in the morning.’
She only hoped that she wouldn’t wait too long because of a certain little brother.
A waiter arrived promptly for her order, and Ayana left her phone on the table to handle her order. Since her fiancé had booked a reservation at her favorite French restaurant, she might as well enjoy herself for the time-being.
