Chapter 17: The Kingston Corporation (2)

’’Young miss—’’

"A mere shareholder talking down to the late president’s daughter... I trust your words weren’t also aimed at my mother, Shareholder McClain?" Ayana asked, her lips curling into a small smile.

How could she have forgotten someone as annoying and arrogant for a mere shareholder like this fat man?

Shareholder Mcclain.

There was no one else who could so shamelessly degrade the entire female gender with such false righteousness and in such a disgusting manner.

In her past life, she had crossed paths with him often, due to her close ties with her uncle and his family.

This man, Shareholder Mcclain, had always resented the fact that she held shares in the Kingston Corporation and was an heiress. Whenever they met, he would always lecture her on why women should never be involved in business and present countless reasons to justify his outdated beliefs.

However, that wasn’t the worst of this man.

She had always felt his lecherous gaze trailing over her, especially as her body began to mature into that of a grown woman.

Back then, Ayana had tolerated it for the sake of her uncle and his business relationships. She didn’t want to strain the relationship between the two men, and so she endured in silence despite the uncomfortable gaze.

Though her uncle had ensured that she wasn’t directly involved in Kingston Corporation’s affairs, any participation she did have had always been under his guidance and influence.

Most of her encounters with Shareholder McClain and anyone from the Kingston Corporation were limited to banquets and other open gatherings.

At the time, Ayana had felt a deep sense of relief knowing she wouldn’t have to regularly deal with a man like McClain and endure his unsettling gaze.

Now, it was different.

She needed to prepare herself for her time and future days in the Kingston corporation.

"T-That..." Shareholder McClain’s haughty expression shifted as he remembered the striking image of the late Madam Kingston.

Right.

That woman had not only been deeply involved in business, but had also served as the vice president of Kingston Corporation. She had been as competent as the late president by skillfully managing major projects in his absence. There were even times when she assumed the role of president while her husband was away on extended business trips.

’’My mother was the vice president of the Kingston corporation, wasn’t she?’’ Ayana’s smile deepened when she noted the discomfort on his disgusting fat face.

She snorted inwardly and scorned the low intelligence of this man.

Wasn’t he slapping himself in the face when her late mother was the exact opposite of his words? And he had been a shareholder in the Kingston corporation for quite a number of years.

Now that she thought about her past life, perhaps Shareholder Mcclain was one of her uncle’s people, since he was the first to speak up in the boardroom.

Since he wanted to so righteously discuss how men were greater than women, then she would do her part and shut his loose mouth down before her presence.

’’And to counter your first set of words, Shareholder Mcclain, I have the right to attend and seated here in this board meeting as a replacement for the true heir. The one who does not have the right to be in this board meeting is a Managing director in of our subsidiary companies.’’ Ayana then shifted her smiling gaze to her uncle. ’’Isn’t that right, Uncle?’’

Since Ayana had never been involved in the affairs of the Kingston corporation, in this life, she started to read and educate herself with some of her parents’ books that were all about business management.

Her uncle was the Managing director in the Kingston entertainment company, a subsidiary company fully owned by the Kingston corporation. Above his position was the Chief Executive Office that oversees the management of the entire entertainment company.

Only the shareholders, the CEOs and the Department heads had the right to attend the board meeting. Her uncle did not have right as a managing director, but everyone could only overlook this because of his status as the Eldest Master of the Kingston family.

In her past life, it must have been the same. However, it was different in this life.

She was here, not only as the late president’s daughter, but an heiress, a shareholder, and a replacement for Jason until he was of age. She had more rights than her uncle to attend this board meeting.

’’....It seems you have some knowledge about the Kingston corporation, Ayana.’’ Mark did not know how many times he had to force a smile on his lips because of this girl called his niece.

Not only had she humiliated him earlier, and blocked the shareholder Mcclain, she also blatantly pointed to the reason why he shouldn’t attend this board meeting. Unlike before, her words had thoroughly obstructed him from having his way.

From the beginning, it was obvious that his niece did not want him to be in this board meeting at all. She obviously wanted him out of this place, just like her father had done to him for so many years!

"Father and Mother have always done their best to educate me, Uncle."

"Haha... I see. Then I worried for nothing, Ayana." Realizing he had no choice but to leave, Mark slowly rose from his seat, and offered a polite smile to the others in the boardroom.

"Well then, excuse me, everyone." He gave a slight nod and stepped away from his chair. The sound of his heels clicked against the tiled floor as he walked out of the boardroom and calmly shut the door.

’I underestimated her!’ His hazel eyes darkened with fury.

To think that he would be driven out by his niece—a twelve-year-old nonetheless!

’This wasn’t the plan....’ His jaw tightened as he strode down the hallway to the elevator in deep thoughts. Reality had taken a sharp turn from his carefully calculated expectations.

The plans he had meticulously crafted for this moment had been thrown into disarray, all because of that hateful girl!

What had his younger brother and sister-in-law died for, if their daughter was just another obstacle standing in his way?!

*Ding!*

’I should have killed her if I had known...’ Mark ignored the greetings from the employees at the reception after stepping out of the elevator. A sharp contrast to his welcoming demeanor with a smile, and stormed out of the towering building.

Whether his spies had been too negligent or his niece had truly discovered something, it did not change the fact that he had been humiliated today!

’I’ll just have to watch for her closely and plan carefully next time,’ he decided silently, slipping into the back seat of the car. The security personnel, oblivious to the turmoil behind his calm façade, shut the door respectfully before the vehicle pulled out from the Kingston Corporation.
