Heavens' Laughter-Chapter 117: Gross
"You bastard! You’re courting death!" Bai Ning roared, his voice booming with rage as he seemingly appeared from nowhere.
His movements were lightning-fast, his body becoming a blur before transforming entirely.
A powerful Qi surrounded him, and within moments, Bai Ning’s figure shifted, taking the form of a massive ram, his Qi solidifying into curved horns and muscular limbs.
With a thunderous charge, he hurled himself at the young man, the ground trembling beneath the force of his attack.
Being slammed into, Feng Shen’s feet skidded across the dirt, his balance tested as he slid backward several paces.
Yet, even as the force pushed him, he remained steady, his stance unshaken. A smirk tugged at the corner of his lips.
"It’s already too late~" Feng Shen chuckled. He lifted the decapitated head, holding it high. He spun the head lazily on his finger.
"See? Your precious client is no more," he sneered.

Then, without warning, Feng Shen’s grip tightened. A sickening crunch echoed as he crushed the skull with his bare hand, brain matter and fragments of bone spilling through his fingers:
"Though, to be honest... I’m already bored of this little trophy."
Feng Shen let the remains fall to the ground.
Clenching his fists at his sides, Bai Ning’s knuckles turned white as his nails dug into his palms. His teeth ground together audibly.
Rage boiled within him, threatening to consume his control.
’Damn it! Now we won’t get paid!’ Bai Ning thought. Around him, his Qi began to crackle and shimmer, a volatile energy building with dangerous intensity.
Such power that threatened to spiral out of control.
Bai Ning felt the pressure mounting, the urge to let his anger explode in a devastating release of Qi. Yet, he held himself back, breathing deeply to regain control.
’I can’t afford to lose myself — not here, not to this smug bastard. Destroying everything in a blind rage would be foolish.’
And so, Bai Ning Instead, forced his emotions into check.
Silence…
Until…
Ren Zu appeared in a blur of movement, his breaths heavy as he came to a halt beside his comrade. "My apologies," he said quickly, brushing sweat from his brow.
"My Qi was acting up again — completely unstable. Did you catch up? Is the First Prince okay?" His words tumbled out in rapid succession, his concern clear in the urgency of his tone.
But as Ren Zu spoke, his gaze drifted to his comrade’s rigid posture, his clenched fists, and the storm of suppressed rage in his expression.
"What’s wrong—!?" His words faltered, his voice trailing off into silence.
Ren Zu’s eyes shifted… The sight hit him like a blow.
There, on the blood-soaked ground, was the First Prince’s decapitated head — or what remained of it.
It was then that Ren Zu’s Qi erupted around him, an uncontrollable surge of power that caused the ground beneath his feet to crack and fracture like cobwebs.
The air grew thick with his overwhelming energy, and his hair began to rise.
In an instant, Ren Zu’s entire form began to shift, his body transforming.
The manifestation of his body made of Qi took the shape of a massive, serpentine figure — a snake.

"DAMN YOU TO HELL!" Ren Zu roared, as his serpentine form coiled and launched forward like a whip.
"Wait! Calm down, Brother Zu!" Bai Ning shouted, extending a hand toward his comrade. His voice carried urgency, but deep down, he knew his words were futile.
His comrade was far beyond reason, his anger having taken complete control.
Clicking his tongue in annoyance, Bai Ning muttered under his breath, "And here I thought I was the irrational one…"
He let out a resigned sigh, rubbing the back of his neck.
With no other choice, Bai Ning braced himself. His Qi flared to life around him as he burst into motion, racing to join his comrade.
"Ah~ I’m glad we can finally dance without any distractions~." Feng Shen crossed his arms casually, as though he hadn’t a care in the world, even as the two barreled toward him with killing intent.
Just as they closed the final meter, their Qi out of control, his body blurred into motion.
With a swift leap, Feng Shen soared above them, his feet glowing with concentrated Qi. In one fluid motion, he stomped down on both their heads with devastating force.
The impact shattered their protective Qi barriers like glass, slamming them into the ground with a deafening crash that left cracks spiderwebbing across the earth.
Effortlessly, Feng Shen launched himself backward, flipping gracefully through the air before landing with a flourish.
His arms spread wide as if performing for an unseen audience, and he turned to glance over his shoulder with a playful smirk.
"Ah~ perfect landing!" Feng Shen exclaimed in a cheerful tone.
Bai Ning and Ren Zu sprang to their feet in a split second, their movements swift and synchronized.
Without a moment’s hesitation, they turned to face the young man again.
"JUST DIE!" Bai Ning and Ren Zu screamed at the same time.
Their Qi flared brighter and denser this time, wrapping around their bodies like armor.
Without exchanging another word, Bai Ning and Ren Zu moved in unison, darting to opposite sides of of the young man.
As they closed in, an invisible link formed between them — a connection through their Qi.
Through this bond, Bai Ning and Ren Zu began communicating seamlessly, their thoughts exchanged in an instant.
’I’ll go high. Distract him low.’
’Got it. Watch his feet.’
Resting his hands behind his back, Feng Shen sighed lightly, shaking his head. "Now, now~ no need to overthink things. No matter what you plan, I’ll always be one step ahead~.
He tilted his head, watching their coordinated approach.
As Bai Ning and Ren Zu closed in…
Feng Shen’s expression shifted to one of focused anticipation. In an instant, his Qi surged, and he unleashed Dragon’s Roar downward.
The ground quaked violently as a shockwave erupted outward, consuming the immediate area in a burst of raw energy.
The explosion was like that of a suicide bomber, obliterating everything in its radius.
Bai Ning and Ren Zu, unprepared for such a reckless move, were caught entirely off guard. Their dense Qi armor, carefully fortified moments earlier, cracked and shattered under the overwhelming force.
The sheer power of the blast sent them hurtling through the air, their bodies ragdolling before crashing hard into the ground several meters away.
Dust and debris settled slowly as Feng Shen stood at the epicenter of the destruction, unharmed and utterly composed.
He dusted off his skin with a smirk, the faint glow of his Qi dissipating around him:
"Ah~ I suppose I went a little overboard?"
Seeing them sprawled on the ground, motionless but still alive, Feng Shen strode toward them. He looked over their battered forms, a look of disdain crossing his face.
"It seems I overvalued you two…" he said, his voice laced with disappointment as he shook his head slowly:
"You’re just weak. Too weak..."
Feng Shen kneeled slightly:
"And to think… I thought we were going to have a good fight to the death. Something to really make my blood boil. But no... What a shame."
Ren Zu’s eyes fluttered open, his vision blurred and his body aching with every breath.
He coughed violently, blood splattering the dirt beneath him as he struggled to push himself up, only to collapse back down, his strength failing him.
"I hope... the heavens curse you!" Ren Zu spat hoarsely. Another fit of coughing overtook him, the metallic taste of blood filling his mouth.
In the back of his mind, he knew the truth — he deserved to die. He had failed.
Ren Zu’s job was to protect the First Prince. His career, his reputation, everything he had built, was already in ruins.
Whether by this young man’s hand or his own guilt, he knew his fate was sealed.
As his coughing subsided, Ren Zu’s gaze fixed weakly on the young man. Despite the overwhelming pain, his lips twisted into a bitter smile:
"Mark my words... someday... someone will make you pay."
Ren Zu’s head fell back to the ground, his body too broken to continue as his eyes closed.
"Well~ when that day comes, it’ll truly be interesting~" Feng Shen mused. "A person who could actually make me pay? Now that would be something worth seeing."
For a brief moment, the idea lingered in his mind, a flicker of genuine intrigue. Could such a person exist?
Feng Shen chuckled to himself, brushing the thought aside as quickly as it came. "Doubtful."
Standing up, without a second thought, he brought his foot down with a sickening crunch, the mercenary’s head shattering beneath the force like a ripe watermelon.
"Ah~! I almost forgot the fat pig," Feng Shen muttered. He turned his eyes and strolled over to the other body:
"What a shame. It seems piggy didn’t survive the explosion… such a tragic end."
When Feng Shen’s eyes landed on the mess of scorched flesh and scattered fat, his eyebrows shot up in genuine surprise. P
Patches of Bai Ning’s skin were peeled off, clinging to the ground like melted wax, while chunks of his body had been blown apart.
Feng Shen couldn’t help but say:
"That’s... a pretty gross sight."
