Heavenly Dragon Doctor Son-in-Law-Chapter 203 - 204: The behind-the-scenes investigation of Zhang Meilan!
Zhang Meilan, who had been watching TV, suddenly put down the remote control and stared at Tang De with suspicion. Tang De was carefully putting away his blue and white porcelain teacups and shot her a displeased glance. "Meilan, if you have nothing better to do, could you please stop with the wild theories?" he snapped.
"Oh, Tang De, are you itching for a beating?" Zhang Meilan retorted, flaring up instantly.
"Alright, alright, I’ll listen to your analysis," Tang De said hastily, afraid the aggressive woman would smash his precious tea set in her anger.
"I can’t believe the Golden Sun mortgage contract was a mistake," she began, handing him a piece of fruit. "Do you think the contract for the villa from Qin Long could be fake, too?"
"How is that possible?" Tang De waved a hand dismissively, completely unconvinced. "We saw the transfer records with our own eyes. Besides, Xuewu signed it herself. Absolutely not!"
"And why not? The Golden Sun contract was a mistake, wasn’t it? Besides, haven’t you noticed? Xuewu is completely under that bastard Qin Long’s spell. She’d do anything to keep him in the Tang Family." Zhang Meilan felt just like Sherlock Holmes.
"Why would our own daughter lie to us?" Tang De asked, still shaking his head.
"Are you stupid? She obviously doesn’t want us to kick Qin Long out! And she wants us to think he’s actually capable, so we have even less reason to get rid of him! Remember when I bragged you were a vice president earning millions a year? In reality, you’re just a deputy manager making a little over six thousand a month."
Hearing this, Tang De lowered his head in shame.
"What about the agreement? Let’s take another good look at it," Tang De suggested, a sudden idea striking him.
"Xuewu has hidden it away by now. She’d never let us see it. Tang De, we have to go see for ourselves." Zhang Meilan crossed her arms smugly, feeling she finally had something on Qin Long.
"That’s not a good idea, Meilan. Our house is big enough. We don’t need a massive villa," Tang De frowned, trying to dissuade her.
"You useless man! You’re a failure in your career, and you can’t even satisfy me in bed! You’re the eldest young master of the Tang Family! Just look at your brothers. They’re all the old man’s flesh and blood, so how come they get to live in huge villas while I’m stuck hiding in this tiny courtyard? Do you have any idea how hard it’s been for me all these years?" Zhang Meilan began to work herself into a tantrum.
Feeling helpless, Tang De gave in. "Okay, okay, have it your way. Just stop shouting. Even though Xuewu is our daughter, I still need to go and check this out myself."
"We’ll go to Yulong District and see it with our own eyes," Zhang Meilan declared, clapping her hands to seal the decision.
"But if we go to the Yulong Group, they might not tell us anything," Tang De pointed out, looking puzzled.
"We’ll go straight to the Dragon King Villa estate. We have to expose Qin Long’s scheme, no matter what." Pulling Tang De along, Zhang Meilan stormed out of the house.
「Yulong District」
Tang De and Zhang Meilan arrived at the gate by taxi but were stopped outside. Not just anyone was allowed to enter the Dragon King Villa section within Yulong District.
"Excuse me, are you here to buy a house or to visit?" a middle-aged security guard in a uniform asked politely.
"We’re not visitors, we’re here to see a house," Zhang Meilan said with a smile. "My daughter just bought a Dragon King Villa here. We’ve come to take a look and prepare for the move."
"I’m sorry, ma’am, but please show me your access card," the guard said sternly, not raising the barrier gate. Although Zhang Meilan wore an expensive bracelet, almost everyone in Yulong District owned a few pieces of fine jewelry, and the security guard had seen plenty of people try to sneak in like this.
"Access card?" Zhang Meilan was instantly embarrassed. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
"Yes. Every resident of Yulong District in Jiangzhong is issued a personalized access card. It’s custom-made for the buyer. Do you have it with you?" the guard asked, his expression already turning disdainful.
This woman is clearly not a resident. She was looking around furtively before, and now she can’t produce an access card. I wonder what she’s up to.
"Alright, you two, I’m very busy. Please don’t block the road," the guard said, glancing haughtily at Zhang Meilan.
"Oh, excuse me, sir, I just wanted to ask something," Zhang Meilan said, noticing his impatience. She discreetly handed him a pack of soft-pack Zhonghua cigarettes.
Seeing the cigarettes, the guard remained composed. He covertly slipped them into his pocket and asked with a hint of suspicion, "What is it?"
"Has the last Dragon King Villa been sold yet?" Zhang Meilan stared at him, her eyes filled with urgency.
"The Dragon King Villas? No one has ever been able to afford one," the guard said impatiently, waving his hand dismissively.
"See? How are they going to explain this away?" Zhang Meilan said to Tang De through gritted teeth, turning to go home.
"Hey, Old Wang, you were on leave that day. The Dragon King Villa and the adjacent Dragon Terrace were sold for fifty million," a young man in his twenties, also in uniform, called out to the older guard, pausing his live stream.
Hearing this, Zhang Meilan stopped in her tracks. It really was sold!
"Sir, and you, young man, could you please help us check if the buyer was Tang Xuewu?" she asked, rushing over to them excitedly.
"Ma’am, we really can’t disclose that information." Hearing her urgency, both guards immediately became wary. Leaking a buyer’s personal details to an outsider was a major taboo in the real estate business.
Gritting her teeth, Zhang Meilan covertly passed them a red envelope stuffed with cash she had prepared beforehand. "Please, just take a look for me," she pleaded.
The younger guard reluctantly made a phone call, then quickly turned to her. "The buyer’s name is Xiao Long."
"Xiao Long? Shouldn’t it be Qin Long?" Zhang Meilan felt as if she had been struck by lightning, utterly disappointed. I clearly remember seeing our daughter’s name on the contract. How did it become some Xiao Long?
"The name is Xiao Long," the older guard repeated impatiently.
"Are you sure it’s not Tang Xuewu? Or Qin Long?" Zhang Meilan still found it hard to believe and braced herself to ask one more time.
Tang De also looked at the guards, confused. He, too, was beginning to doubt if Qin Long had actually bought the villa. If this is all a lie, Qin Long has gone too far.
"If you don’t believe us, then you can take your envelope back," the young guard said, clearly annoyed, as he handed the red envelope back to her.
Seeing this, Zhang Meilan blushed, realizing she had indeed been too suspicious.
"Alright, let’s go home," Tang De said, gently trying to pacify her.
