He who Bends Time-Chapter 76 - wish fullfiller
Chapter 76: Chapter 76 - wish fullfiller
After going through the portal, Auran appeared in his own mind space, right in front of the Access Finite—the exact place where he had stepped through the portal.
"Right back in this place," he muttered. Afterward, Auran closed his eyes and went into deep concentration before opening them again, now lying in bed in his physical body.
"The method of deep concentration to catch the feeling of my body and return to the physical world really worked, even though it was just an idea of mine," he muttered as he got up from his bed. First, he stretched his body. Because he had been lying down for so long, his body felt a little numb all over as he moved.
After finishing his stretch, Auran noticed a change in his appearance.
"I’ve become paler... Is this the physical change from bonding with time magic? Too bad it’s not something remarkable like what happened with Henry," he mused.
After his light stretch, Auran walked up to the door of his room and unlocked it—but didn’t open it. Instead, he turned around, walked back, and put on his newly acquired coat, which had its own mana resistance ability. Then he sat down in a nearby chair and leaned back in a lazy manner.
"Come in," he said, a bit loudly so it could be clearly heard by whoever was on the other side of the door.
A moment passed after he said that, but the door did not open, nor did he hear any footsteps approaching it.
"Didn’t she say there was someone at my door?" Auran began to doubt the mother crystal’s words—but right at that moment, he felt the vibration shift in the space in front of him. In the next instant, the air shook, waves formed, and a figure stepped out—along with a young-looking girl.
The figure that actually stepped out was a man dressed in black, wearing a wide-brimmed hat. He was old and carried a wise look in his eyes.
"Thanks for inviting us, young time magician," said the old man.
"A time magician? Are you talking about me?" asked Auran, suppressing his sudden surprise at seeing two people suddenly appear in front of him.
"Who else here is a magician that follows the path of time? It’s an extreme delight to meet a time magician once in a while. My name is Vendom, and I’m what you might call a Dream Fulfiller."
"A Dream Fulfiller? That’s a weird and unusual job title. But how is meeting me important to fulfilling this dream of yours?" asked Auran.
"The dream isn’t one that I personally have. It’s my master’s dream—one passed down from the one who now exists beyond this realm. He wishes for more beings from the lower realms to ascend beyond. As a result, I was assigned to help those with the potential to ascend by giving them a helping hand," said the old man in the black suit.
"To the ascension stage, huh? I probably could reach that on my own, without anyone else’s help," said Auran nonchalantly, still lazily leaning in his chair.
"Words of pure confidence you speak—I admire that," said the old man with his eyes closed, "but beware, young adventurer. The path ahead is not an easy one. In this realm, the stronger you become, the more cruelty of the reality you will face. And this cruelty is especially severe for someone like you, who is pursuing the path of time."
"Care to describe what these dangers are that I would face?" asked Auran.
"There are things I can share and things I cannot. Sometimes, knowing of a danger doesn’t prevent it—and in some cases, it might even bring it closer. The best I can offer you is my assistance, so I insist that the young and wise gentleman accepts an old man’s advice," said the old man calmly.
All the while he and Auran spoke, the young girl who had appeared alongside him stood silently by his side, watching their conversation without a word.
"You’re making me confused, old man... but I get the gist of what you’re saying. You’re telling me that there are great dangers that come with gaining power, and you’re here to help because your old master wished to nurture those with the potential to ascend?" Auran asked.
"You spoke the truth, young man," replied the old man.
"First of all, how did you know I’m a time magician?" Auran questioned.
"What else would space cheer for other than one of its own superior branches?" answered the old man with a slight smile.
’Space really is snitching on me everywhere, huh,’ thought Auran.
"I still don’t see why I’d need help from someone else, but I’ll hear you out and decide whether to accept your offer after you explain how exactly you plan to assist me," said Auran.
"A valid decision," said the old man with a nod. "The assistance I can offer you is limited to objects."
Then, he stretched his hand toward the young girl beside him, who responded by reaching her own hand into her body and pulling out a book.
"The wise young man should know that objects with remarkable properties are ranked into five tiers. While the first two tiers are uncommon, the third tier is very rare, and finding a fourth-tier object is like finding a single lost needle across the entire universe," said the old man, presenting the book to Auran. "And this is a fourth-tier object—one that I believe will be of great help to you."
"last hour Codex," Auran muttered, reading the title of the book.
"I cannot judge anything for you here. Isn’t there a saying—don’t judge a book by its cover?" he added, extending his hand. After a brief pause, the old man passed the book to him. "Look at just the first few pages—the description of the book should be there," he said.
Receiving the book, Auran flipped quickly through the first few pages to read its contents. But even before he could hand it back, the book suddenly disappeared from the his hand and reappeared in old man’s hands.
’The last hour Codex... It’s actually not a book that describes all of time, but rather a book that details a single, specific spell,’ Auran thought as he recalled the content he read from the book.
’A fourth-tier object like this is immensely valuable—even my Malckoy family would treasure it. For this old man to hand something like this over so easily... it’s extremely suspicious, no matter how he explains it.’
