He Does Not Deserve My Devotion-Chapter 70: Mr. Sinclair, Congratulations, It’s Fraternal Twins
At 10 p.m., Aiden Sinclair received a call. "Young Master Sinclair, Miss Walsh is indeed pregnant. We’ll need to do an ultrasound to determine the exact term and check the baby’s development."
"Really?" Aiden Sinclair’s hand holding the phone couldn’t help but tremble.
The doctor on the other end repeated the diagnosis. The call ended, but Aiden Sinclair’s heart pounded for a long time.
The baby was still there. He still had a chance to earn her forgiveness.
"Mrs. Lane! Mrs. Lane!"
Mrs. Lane had been about to turn in for the night. Hearing him call, she thought there was an emergency and hurried to the main hall.
Aiden Sinclair rambled incoherently, "Tomorrow, hire a few more people... No, forget it... We should find a professional nutritionist..."
It was the first time Mrs. Lane had ever seen Aiden Sinclair like this, and she grew nervous. "Young Master, has something terrible happened?"
Aiden Sinclair took a deep breath, his eyes and brows alight with joy. "Mrs. Lane, Nina Walsh is pregnant. She’s carrying my child."
Upon hearing this, Mrs. Lane’s face lit up with joy as well.
"Really? That’s wonderful! Young Master, you’re going to be a father! I understand. Pregnant women can have picky appetites. I’ll find two new chefs tomorrow. Don’t you worry, Young Master, I’ll take good care of Miss Walsh."
"That’s wrong."
Aiden Sinclair cut Mrs. Lane off. She froze for a moment, then saw Aiden Sinclair smile. "It’s Mrs. Sinclair."
Aiden Sinclair turned and ran back to the study. He opened the safe, took out a gray, book-sized box, and opened it. Inside were two small, red booklets.
...
Nina Walsh opened her eyes. The heavy curtains were drawn tight, not letting in a sliver of light. She had no idea what time it was.
As she sat up, a voice suddenly sounded.
"You’re awake?"
Nina Walsh followed the sound with her eyes. At some point, a desk had appeared in the bedroom, with Aiden Sinclair’s laptop and documents on it.
He was supposed to go to the office today, but Aiden Sinclair had something more important to do. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
So he was working at the desk, waiting for Nina Walsh to wake up.
Aiden Sinclair walked over and affectionately kissed her forehead.
Nina Walsh pushed him away.
Aiden Sinclair sat down beside her and took her hand. "Nina Walsh, I know now. Our baby is still here. I’m sorry. I’ve done so many things wrong in the past. For the baby’s sake, can you give me one more chance? Can you forgive me?"
Nina Walsh pulled her hand back, her expression blank. "Let me go, and I’ll forgive you."
Aiden Sinclair’s expression faltered. "You can punish me in any way you want. Use a knife, a gun, even take my life. The only thing you can’t do is leave me."
"Why?" Nina Walsh looked at him, her gaze a complex mix of shock, confusion, and uncertainty.
’Why is he suddenly so intense and direct with me? What new game is he playing now?’
Unaware of her thoughts, Aiden Sinclair said with tender affection, "There is no why. It’s because I can’t live without you."
A shiver ran down Nina Walsh’s spine. His sweet words were like a poisoned arrow piercing her heart.
"It’s already ten o’clock. Get up and let’s have breakfast."
Before Nina Walsh could voice her refusal, her body was already being lifted from the bed.
Aiden Sinclair carried her downstairs to the dining room. The table was laden with all sorts of breakfast dishes from various regions—rice, noodles, congee, everything was there.
"When will you let me go?"
"I’ll go with you wherever you want to go."
Nina Walsh fell silent, forcing herself to eat a little under Aiden Sinclair’s watchful gaze.
Aiden Sinclair said, "I know you don’t want to go to the hospital, so I’ve had people come here to give you a full check-up."
Aiden Sinclair’s words left no room for refusal. Before long, a team of doctors arrived at the door with their equipment.
The room next to the bedroom had been converted into a small medical room. From now on, Nina Walsh could have all her prenatal check-ups here without ever leaving the house.
"Mrs. Sinclair, please lie down. We’re going to do an ultrasound to see how the babies are developing."
Nina Walsh lay down. Soon, two tiny figures appeared on the large LCD screen mounted opposite her.
"Mr. Sinclair, Mrs. Sinclair, congratulations. It’s a pair of fraternal twins, a boy and a girl."
’Fraternal twins? It’s really fraternal twins, a boy and a girl! One of each!’
Aiden Sinclair was once again overcome with joy, but he tensed his body, trying not to let anyone see how nervous he was.
"Are the babies healthy?"
"From what we can see now, their development is normal. Mr. Sinclair, you can listen to their heartbeats. They’re very strong."
The doctor clicked something, and a sound like a rumbling train came from the computer. Aiden Sinclair was taken aback. ’Is that what a baby’s heartbeat sounds like? It’s incredible.’
"However, Mrs. Sinclair’s constitution is rather weak, and it’s a twin pregnancy. The babies are a bit on the small side. She’ll need to focus on nutrition and get plenty of bed rest later on..."
"Doctor, I don’t want these two children."
Aiden Sinclair was listening intently to the doctor’s instructions when Nina Walsh suddenly spoke up.
The joyous atmosphere in the room instantly turned icy.
"What did you say, Mrs. Sinclair? Just focus on your pregnancy. The babies are fine, you don’t need to worry."
"I said, I want to abort these two children. I don’t want to give birth!" Nina Walsh repeated, her voice high and strained as she gritted her teeth.
The doctors looked at Aiden Sinclair in confusion. He gestured for all of them to leave.
Nina Walsh scrambled off the bed, her movements frantic.
Aiden Sinclair grabbed her hand. "Why don’t you want the babies? Why did you lie?"
’She can’t possibly not want them. If she really didn’t want them, she would have taken care of it long ago.’
Nina Walsh shook him off, her demeanor fierce. "I’m not lying! Aiden Sinclair, after how you’ve hurt me, why should I have your children? Why should I let you ruin my life?"
Aiden Sinclair was speechless, unable to argue. He could only ask, "Then why did you keep them?"
Nina Walsh bit her lip, her eyes filling with tears. "It wasn’t me who kept them, it’s that their lives are too damn cheap! Jumping off a building, having my blood drawn, kneeling, being threatened, and even kidnapped—after every single one of those things, who would have thought they’d still be alive!"
Thinking of that day in the warehouse, Nina Walsh’s resentment toward the world erupted.
"That day in the warehouse, I begged you for help! They begged you for help! Did you see it? When you turned and left with Clara Jacobs, did it ever cross your mind that I might die? That *they* might die?"
"You pushed us to the brink of danger time and time again. And now, just because you put on a show of making me a meal and offering a few scraps of kindness, I’m supposed to get on my knees and thank you?"
"Aiden Sinclair, if you have even a shred of conscience left, I’m begging you, let me go. Every minute, every second with you is torture. It’s like being in a sunless nightmare. This is worse than death."
Every one of Nina Walsh’s words was a dagger, and Aiden Sinclair already felt like he’d been pierced by ten thousand arrows.
If he had known the result would be this painful, if he had known he would live every day and every night consumed by regret and self-reproach, he would never have made that choice back then, no matter what.
But he also knew that if the babies were gone, the last connection between him and Nina Walsh would disappear. Then, he would truly never be able to earn her forgiveness.
Therefore, even if she hated him, he wouldn’t let her leave, and he wouldn’t let her abort the babies.
’At worst, I’ll just let her hate me for the rest of her life. That’s still better than her heart belonging to someone else.’
"My relationship with Clara Jacobs was just for show. It’s over between us. It’s dangerous for you to go out right now. Just focus on your health. Once things have settled down outside, I’ll let you go."
