He Does Not Deserve My Devotion-Chapter 33: Sleeping in Each Other’s Arms
Aethel Group.
Aiden Sinclair finished his work for the day. As soon as he stepped out of the elevator, he saw a woman standing by his car.
Nina Walsh saw him too. Their gazes met mid-air, neither showing any emotion in their eyes.
Nina was emotionless, while Aiden was simply good at hiding his.
"Get in the front."
Aiden unlocked the car and got into the driver’s seat. Nina did as she was told and sat in the passenger seat.
"What did you want to see me about?" Aiden asked, feigning ignorance.
Nina had already given up resisting. "Cancel the five million, and I’ll do whatever you say."
Hearing this, a flicker of imperceptible joy passed through Aiden’s heart.
He had to admit, while he wasn’t the one who had someone plant the scissors in Michelle Quinn’s bag, he had deliberately made things difficult for her and Michelle.
The means didn’t matter; what mattered was that he had achieved his desired result—Nina Walsh could not possibly marry Declan Grant.
Aiden took Nina back to the same penthouse apartment as last time. He gave her a key to the apartment, a car key, and a new phone.
"You’ll live here from now on. You can come and go as you please, but you have to send me your location every two hours, and you must be back here before 8 PM."
Nina stared at Aiden in shock. ’What is this? A prison in disguise?’
Aiden didn’t answer her unspoken question. "Can you do it?"
Nina thought for a second, then said, "I have two conditions as well. One, I won’t sleep with you. Two, as soon as I pay back the five million, you have to let me go."
’So clever, and she even knows how to read the situation and negotiate.’ Aiden knew she was fine.
"Deal," Aiden agreed with a nod.
"I still have work to deal with. You go get some rest."
Aiden said nothing more. He casually tossed his suit jacket on the sofa and disappeared into the study.
Nina immediately took out her phone to call Michelle Quinn, but Michelle’s phone was off. Nina had no choice but to send her a text, telling her not to worry about the five million.
After sending the text, Nina finally let out a true sigh of relief. She walked into the bedroom and only then did she discover that the things in the closet and on the vanity were all items she had used before.
This small detail was like a pebble tossed into the still lake of her heart.
But Nina quickly stopped herself from wavering.
’Nina, he’s about to get engaged to another woman. For him to be wanting his cake and eating it too... it just proves what a scumbag he is.’
She hastily washed her face and lay down on the bed without even changing her clothes.
At one in the morning, Nina was woken by the sound of running water in the bathroom. Soon, Aiden’s footsteps emerged from the bathroom. Nina lay on her side, her back to him, not daring to move a muscle.
The mattress dipped. Aiden lifted the thin blanket and lay down, turning slightly to press his scorching body against her back.
The hairs on Nina’s arms stood on end, and her heart pounded like thunder.
Aiden shifted a bit, adjusting into a comfortable position, then pressed his face against the top of her head and fell asleep.
...
The night passed peacefully. At seven the next morning, Aiden opened his eyes, his expression as bright as the sunlight outside the window.
It had been a long time since he’d enjoyed such a pleasant and relaxing sleep.
He turned his head and saw the woman’s petite figure, her back still to him. His eyes darkened.
She had kept her back to him like this the entire night.
Before, she would have burrowed into his chest, never wanting to leave.
When Nina woke up, it was almost ten o’clock. Aiden was no longer in the bed.
For the entire night, Aiden had only held her, without making any inappropriate moves.
For the first time, he had honored her request.
Nina stared blankly for a while in bed before Michelle Quinn called.
It wasn’t something they could sort out in just a few words, so the two arranged to meet at a coffee shop to talk in detail.
Nina didn’t take the car Aiden had given her; she took a cab to their destination instead.
She chose a quiet table, ordered two coffees, and waited quietly for Michelle Quinn to arrive.
Suddenly, a cup of iced coffee came out of nowhere and was splashed directly in Nina’s face.
"You bitch, who were you with last night?" Clara Jacobs appeared in the coffee shop, looking furious.
Nina suspected she was being followed. Otherwise, how could Clara have shown up here so coincidentally?
"Speak! Where did Aiden take you last night?" Clara demanded angrily.
She was supposed to have her wedding photos taken with Aiden yesterday, but it was delayed because of the scene Michelle Quinn caused. After they left, Aiden had abandoned her at the bridal shop and wouldn’t even answer her calls.
She had staked out Aiden’s company all night and saw Nina get into his car with her own eyes.
"Let’s see how I’m going to deal with you today, you little bitch!"
Clara raised her hand to strike, but Nina shot to her feet, swiftly grabbed the hot coffee from the table, and threw it in Clara’s face.
"If you want to know, go ask Aiden Sinclair yourself."
Clara shrieked in pain from the burn. Coffee stains dripped from her hair, and her face was flushed red from the heat.
The other customers in the cafe all turned to look. Nina, having nothing to lose, shouted, "Does everyone want to see what a popular actress looks like without her makeup?"
As she spoke, she grabbed the other coffee from across the table and forcefully threw it at Clara.
"AH! Get away!" Clara covered her face with both hands and turned to flee, but her hair was yanked back hard from behind.
"AH! Let go of my hair!" Clara cried out in pain, her expression turning savage.
Nina kicked her in the back of the knee, and Clara immediately dropped to the ground with a THUD.
When Michelle Quinn walked into the coffee shop, she saw Nina sitting in a chair with a disheveled woman kneeling beside her, while all the surrounding customers held up their phones, recording videos.
When she got closer and saw it was Clara Jacobs, Michelle’s eyes nearly popped out of her head.
"Lemon, let’s go, quick."
Michelle grabbed Nina’s hand and fled the coffee shop in a panic.
"What was that all about? Why was Clara Jacobs kneeling?"
Nina said nonchalantly, "I made her kneel." ’She owed me that.’
This change in Nina’s attitude took Michelle completely by surprise. "Lemon, did you go see Aiden Sinclair last night?"
When Michelle saw the text Nina had sent her this morning, she had already guessed most of what had happened.
Nina nodded. Michelle’s heart ached as she said, "Nina, how could you be so foolish? I told you I could handle it."
Nina shook her head. "It’s not because of you, and it’s not because of this incident. I just couldn’t swallow my anger."
Seeing the resentful look on Nina’s face, Michelle believed her and advised her with a heavy heart, "Lemon, why do you have to drag yourself down to play their games? You’re just wasting your own time. It’s not worth it."
Nina said firmly, "I’ve already made up my mind. I’m not changing it."
Michelle sighed. "Then how are you going to explain this to Dr. Grant? Weren’t you two about to get engaged? And the baby in your belly... what are you going to do?"
RING RING RING—
The new phone Aiden had given her rang abruptly. Nina jumped, terrified, as if someone had just overheard her secret.
