He Became A Monstrous Genius After Obtaining A Time Dilation Artifact-Chapter 487. End of the conference
A human man, clothed in simple clothes with a regal bearing, stood in an extremely exquisitely adorned room. He had velvet hair, and eyes that radiated the vicissitudes of life. But he looked like he was in his early thirties.
He stared at a particular holographic screen before him. He sighed. A tinge of melancholy flickered through his eyes.
"I’ve made a mistake. But is it too late to correct my ways?"
He had even sent his son to the Astral Empire to convince his grandson to come see him. But it turned out his son was using that as a ploy to run away from home and desert the Arman Empire.
Was he really that of a terrible father? Even to the point that, when he genuinely wanted to see his grandson, his son probably thought he was so horrible that he just wanted to see his grandson for political reasons?
But after his track record of prioritizing his empire over his family, after the track record of being a bad husband and a bad father, could he really blame Lawrence for deciding not to return to the empire, and for probably convincing his grandson to not come to see him?
The man sighed deeply. He knew the past was something he could not change. But even his attempt to make it up to his grandson was proving futile.
Just then, the clanging of heels echoed in the room. A feminine human figure stood beside him. She didn’t say anything. She was completely silent.
This was his wife, Elysia Clover.
"Auctevius, I have forgiven you for driving our daughter away. I have forgiven you even for doing nothing when she was being harassed and chased to be murdered like a fugitive in another man’s land," the beautiful dark-haired woman said. "I have even forgiven you, after you did not attend the funeral we held in her name." She sighed deeply. Her voice was firm. "But if you fail to make it up to your grandson, I swear on the name of the Sacred Sea Secret Sect, I will annul this marriage with you and raze the Arman Empire to the ground."
"How can you say—" Before Auctevius could finish talking, his wife interrupted him again.
"You saved my life that day, and for that I am indebted to you. My mistake was falling in love with you and marrying you, as I didn’t know you’d turn into such a horrible person.
But we are both aware that the power the Sacred Sea Secret Sect holds is greater than the power your empire holds. If you do not make it up to your grandson, I, as the first daughter of the Sect Lord of the Sacred Sea Secret Sect, will command the Arman Empire to be razed to the ground."
After that, she turned around and left the room. She had had enough of this man’s stupidity. She had endured so much because of him. Their son did not want to even see him, their daughter had fled the empire and had perished because of him.
And now their grandson did not want to see him. And instead of being a man to own up and find a way to get his grandson, Kailen, to forgive him for what he did to the young man’s mother, he was standing here sulking as he watched videos of his grandson.
If he was not willing to make amends for his ways, then not only would she annul their marriage, she would mobilize the forces of the Sacred Sea Sacred Sect and destroy the Arman Empire—the empire he had sacrificed his family for.
The assumption that she married this man because of an arranged marriage was not true. She married him because, at the time, she loved him. But did she anymore?
Also, she was not a princess of some empire. She was the first daughter of the Sacred Sea Sacred Sect, a secret sect from distant oceans far beyond these regions. Despite boasting powerhouses at the supreme-stage galactic level, they preferred keeping to themselves and not interfering in matters of the outside world.
However, if she told them to move on the Oasis Verdict, she could utilize it once, and as the daughter of the Sect Leader, it would be granted on her behalf.
If this man tried her patience, she would let him have it.
As for Auctevius, he sighed. It seemed his wife had had enough of his stupidity.
If despite her calm and soft nature, which he had taken for granted all these years, she had spoken to him this way, then she was not joking.
He had to meet his grandson and make amends to him. This was not just because of her words. But it had given him a strong wake-up call.
If his wife was willing to stand against him, then it meant he had really screwed up and he needed to own up for his stupid mistakes.
He had to make a trip to the Vatican Empire as soon as possible to see his grandson.

The blacksmith and mining competition continued, and various geniuses revealed dazzling results.
However, although Kailen Darkhaven was no longer a part of the remaining competitions, what he had demonstrated was an experience the audience could not get from the other competitors.
Finally, the Secondary Carrier Alliance conference came to an end.
Winning empires received the high tier secondary Carrier rewards for the specific professions in which they won first place. The Astral Empire for instance won the rune smithery and alchemy compeitons, so the rewards this time was extremely massive. The empire’s alchemy and runesmithery would definitely experience an exponential leap.Losing empires could only sigh in defeat and vow to do better next time.
A few days had passed since the conference had come to an end. At the moment, a young man stood on a balcony with a feminine figure hugging him from behind. The duo were Kailen and Arrie. They had spent some time together in the Vatican Empire after the conference had come to an end.
Kailen had just received a message from Lawrence. According to Lawrence, the empress of the Arman Empire, his mother, had told him that the Emperor was headed towards the Vatican Empire to see Kailen.
"I suppose I will leave the Vatican Empire before he arrives. He has never been a part of my life, and will never be a part of it," Kailen said, voice calm. He didn’t act emotional. He didn’t feel emotional. To him, this man was not family. It would be a waste of his time to even entertain the man for a second.
Arrie sighed, then looked at him. She held his hand. "Kai, can I suggest something?"
Kailen nodded, gaze distant. "Fire away."
Arrie nodded. "Look, why don’t you meet him to at least hear what he has to say?"
Before Kailen could object, she put her hand on his lips and added, "I am not saying meet him to compromise your principles or your view of him. But at least, hear what he has to say from himself. What you have heard about him, although true, has been from Lawrence.
Listen to things from himself. Thanks to your ability to discern lies from truth and even emotions, you will be able to make a more informed decision from meeting him."
Kailen sighed. "Alright. I’ll meet him." Arrie’s gaze brightened. Kailen continued, "I don’t really think it will change anything anyway, but you have a solid point. Let’s decide what to do after that. Oh, and I’m going to meet him with you."
"Alright, I’ll go with you," Arrie nodded, rubbing Kailen’s hand softly.
