Chapter 93: Army of witches

"What’s happening?" Alpha Lake asked, staring at Audrey with an unreadable expression.

"Wear this," Audrey made a grey sweatpants materialize in front of him and went ahead to dress herself up in a white pant and a white top.

Alpha Lake caught the short in disbelief. He couldn’t believe he could be this dumb for an Alpha. He’s lived with a witch and a wolf under the same roof for almost a year and couldn’t detect anything, no scent, no characteristics.

"You’re... a witch?" He slowly asked Audrey as he put his legs through the shorts.

"Dumb," The statue said.

"See you later, Catherine," Audrey said and turned away from Alpha Lake, not answering his question.

As mates who had joined their bodies as one under the full moon, she knew they could now feel each other’s emotions, and what she felt from him at that moment was hurt, betrayal, and curiosity.

She scoffed as she walked toward the gate. He dared to feel hurt and betrayed because she didn’t reveal her identity to him. She knew he could also feel her emotions and she didn’t care one bit.

She wanted him to feel the pain he had caused her, she wanted him to know that she had not yet forgiven him for all those years of false accusations and terrible punishments.

"Audrey," Alpha Lake called behind her as they walked out of the forest.

"I don’t feel like talking to you right now, Alpha," Audrey replied and walked faster to get away from him.

As she walked past the practice field, people were scattered all around the field, feasting on different kinds of foods, discussing and having a good time with their new-found mates.

But none of those things interested her; she had a much more important thing to do. In the end, she was happy that Alpha Lake got to find out about her today, it made it easy for her to directly ask him about the amulet in his possession.

She could feel their curious gazes at her and Alpha Lake. Everyone there was a wolf, so it was easy for them to scent their Alpha’s scent on her and hers on their Alpha. And without questioning, everyone knew what had happened between them.

Audrey suddenly paused in the middle of the field, straining her ears to listen to the sound coming from the forests.

"We need to talk," Alpha Lake gently held her arm when he finally caught up with her.

"Not now," Audrey turned to him and he felt it instantly.

He felt the overpowering Alpha command sipping out from her skin; if he wasn’t an Alpha himself, he’d be just like the rest of the wolves in the field, on their knees, awaiting order.

He confirmed at that moment that his mate was no ordinary wolf or witch.

He walked beside her as she made her way to the front of the field, shocked to see the color change in her eyes; her eyes went from their seductive forest-green color to a blazing and daring red.

He was worried. He wanted to know what got her in such a mood that caused her to use her Alpha power on the wolves. But he silently followed her behind, loving this new Audrey.

"In two minutes, we’ll be under attack by dark witches! Now, I need everyone to return to the safe house! Only the Pack warriors should remain here," Audrey’s voice boomed magnetically all over the place.

Everyone was surprised and scared of both the new Audrey and the news she had just told them.

Quickly, men started to lead their mates out of the field as the Pack warriors smartly formed a defense all around the forest woods.

"Alpha, Luna," Andrew instantly appeared behind them, bowing his head to both of them.

Audrey ignored what Andrew had just called her, she’ll find time to address that issue later.

Alpha Lake turned to him with a frown.

"You knew?" He asked Andrew in disbelief.

So he was the only one who got fooled all this while by Audrey.

"Yes, I’m sorry, Alpha," Andrew bowed to him in apology.

"Quit chatting, focus," Audrey ordered the two men.

Alpha Lake felt like a child getting scolded by his teacher for not paying attention in class.

Audrey marched forward toward the defense formed by the warriors but Alpha Lake suddenly grabbed her hand, stopping her.

"Audrey, I don’t sense any invaders, are you sure about this?" He asked.

"You can’t. You couldn’t sense me either. Witches are more crafty than wolves," Audrey said and walked on.

"She’s right, Alpha, you couldn’t tell it was Audrey all this while," Andrew bowed and followed Audrey behind.

Alpha Lake stood there, feeling as if he had just been dethroned. He felt like Audrey was now the Alpha of the Grey Blood pack, seeing how his warriors and even his beta were obedient to her every word.

"The only advantage we have on them is that this is our territory. We know it better than them, but do not relax on that idea, witches could do anything," Audrey spoke loudly as she walked past the warriors.

"Be vigilant, shoot on site, and make sure it’s in the heart!" Audrey ordered, motioning for them to enter the forests.

She sensed them early, and now, they’ll be the ones who would be surprised. Elena was relentless in killing her even as she believed she didn’t have her powers again. She still saw Audrey as a threat.

But tonight, she was going to send her a message and let her know that she was more than ready for her.

But what confuses Audrey is the weird energy she feels from the approaching dark witches. It almost felt like they were walking blindly without destination, without actually wanting to hurt someone, it almost felt like her sister wanted to warn the Grey Blood Pack and show them how filterable their borders were.

But she didn’t buy into the idea; her sister was crafty and would do anything to get what she wanted.

"Audrey?" Alpah Lake called quietly as they walked back into the forest in search of the enemies.

"They are dark witches, but their energies feel very low, almost harmless, but be on guard and never let any of them too close to you," She warned.

Alpha Lake nodded with a smile. He was down bad for this kickass version of Audrey. He couldn’t believe this was the same girl he had seen lying half-dead in the cold, dark dungeon...and had left to die. He felt very bad remembering what he had done to her in the past.

By the moon goddess, he was fucking in love with her. He prayed she would find a place in her heart to give him a chance to treat her right and redeem himself for all the evil things he’d done to her.

"Luna, we sight a teenage girl and two boys, they seem harmless and-"

"They’re not," Audrey cut the warrior off.

"Shoot the girl on the leg," Audrey ordered and walked to the tree where they were hiding and observing, to see what they were talking about.

For the first time in his life, Alpha Lake felt useless; he stood behind Audrey in the huge tree, staring at the approaching teenagers. If Audrey hadn’t mentioned them not being normal, he would have passed them off as human kids.

"Shoot!" Audrey commanded the hesitant warrior. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶

Bam!!!

The warrior fired off his gun, hitting it surely on the girl’s leg, and in the next second, a loud and unusual shriek filled the air; they watched as the girl fell to the floor in a weird convulsion, and the guys beside her became alert and quickly started sniffing tree after tree in search of them.

"See that?" Audrey pointed to the teenage guys, showing the people behind her how protruded their fingers had become.

"What the..." A warrior stared speechlessly.

"These are rogues, forcefully converted to become dark witches. They’re being controlled by someone far away," Audrey informed, not telling them that the person behind them was no other person but her sister.

"Eieekk!!!" The girl suddenly shrieked and elevated off the floor, flying straight to Audrey.

"Fucking shoot her!" Another warrior shouted to the guy beside Audrey, but the guy seemed to have lost control of his gun.

He wasn’t prepared for that kind of display to happen.

The other teenage guys were alerted of their hideout by the girl and instantly started running toward them, too.

Alpha Lake quickly grabbed Audrey and turned his back to the flying witch, tightly hugging Audrey to himself, but before the witch could reach them, Audrey sneaked her hand out from under his arm and quickly murmured something in a strange language, and the next second, Alpha Lake felt something warm and smelly splash on his back.

"Fuck!" One of the warriors cursed out as he stared at the splattered bodies of the teenage witches.

"How’d you-"

"There’s more!" Audrey quickly extracted herself from Alpha Lake, running forward to the witches.

The witches flooded out of the forest like migrating birds, moving uncoordinatedly toward the warriors.

Alpha Lake wasted no time in following her, his beast mode activated as he instantly tore off the head of a witch who tried to attack him.

The warriors took their positions and fired off their guns, making sure they shot the heart, just like Audrey had instructed.

"Come here," Audrey suddenly grabbed Alpha Lake’s hand and drew him behind a tall bushy shrub, squatting down and leaning against the shrub to hide from the witches.

"What’s going on, Kitten," He whispered.

Audrey rolled her eyes at him for choosing to use an endearment at such a time.

"I’m going to neutralize them, send a mind link to your warrior, ask them to leave the forest, you too," Audrey said seriously.

"Me too?" Alpha Lake frowned hard.

Why was she trying to send him away from her side at such a dangerous time? He didn’t want to lose her like he did before.

"Fucking bastard!" A warrior cursed painfully and fired his gun right into a witch’s heart, limping away with his bleeding leg.

He got scratched by the witch’s long and poisonous claws.

"Trust me," Audrey said and placed her hand calmly on his arm.

Alpha Lake saw the certainty in her eyes and became convinced. He had to trust her, she wasn’t the Audrey he used to know.

He closed his eyes and sent the message to every warrior, and immediately, they started running back to the Pack, but the dark witches didn’t quit; they chased after them at incredible speed.

"Go!" Audrey said and ran out of the shrub.

"Hey! Who wants to be the Alpha of your sick pack?! Come and get me!" Audrey shouted, standing behind the wolves that were now chasing the warriors into the Pack.

They instantly stopped as they heard her voice, immediately abandoning their pursuit of the warriors and running toward her.

"Good," Audrey murmured and ran deeper into the forest, sighing in relief as she couldn’t see Alpha Lake anywhere near the forest again.

She stopped running when she was sure she’d gotten far away from the Pack.

She slowly faced them, smirking at them as they slowly started to circle her, making zombie sounds as they neared her.

She allowed them to get very close to her, and just when they were going to touch her body, she swiftly elevated herself up away from them, holding herself midair and spreading her hands above her head.

In the next second, a very bright and blinding light emitted from her hands, enclosing the dark witches in a white bubble, their agonizing screams permeating the whole forest.

Alpha Lake and Andrew stood in front of the forest and instantly placed their hand over their eyes as the bright light spread out to the entrance of the forest.

"Whoa!" Andrew said in admiration as he stared into the forest.

"Is she okay?" Alpha Lake asked and immediately went to go into the forest but Andrew caught his arm, holding him back.

"Forgive me, Alpha. She asked you to leave because she wanted to protect you, I can’t let you in," Andrew said seriously with his head bowed.

He knew his Alpha wouldn’t appreciate his opinion, but he was doing it for his Luna, if his Luna wanted the Alpha to be safe, then he must be safe at all costs.

Alpha Lake was just about to question Andrew’s attitude when he suddenly heard footsteps coming g out of the forest.

He scented her before he saw her. He looked into the forest and was relieved to find Audrey walking out unharmed, but, something else caused him to become confused and apprehensive.

"Why are the witches walking behind Audrey?" Alpha Lake asked seriously, looking suspiciously at the army of witches walking into his pack. His mate, their leader.
