Chapter 157: She’s not his anything.

"During the whole meeting, we observed that the locals seemed to prefer the more laid-back scent while the socialites seemed to enjoy the sensational scents, the one that makes a statement wherever we go," Leon was analyzing something to Audrey when a knock suddenly sounded on the door.

"I’ll get it," Leon was about to stand from the chair, but Audrey held his hand.

"No, no, that can wait; let’s finish up," She replied.

"Um, okay," Leon looked at the door before continuing with his evaluation.

Audrey already knew who it was, and she guessed as to why he had come to see her.

She scented Andrew even before he knocked on her door.

Leon kept talking, and Audrey tried her best to listen; she already knew everything from the analysis he was giving her, but she had to let him speak; he loved being the one who made her "understand" things better.

"So, what do you think?" Leon finished and questioned Audrey expectantly.

Audrey smiled, "I trust your judgment, Leon; you can go give some orders to the sales manager," She winked at him.

"And I never disappoint," Leon winked back at her and stood from the chair.

"Get ready to get richer; after I promote the products, you’ll see a massive increase in your wealth, young lady, and, I only want one thing as my reward," Leon’s voice turned serious at the end.

Audrey sighed. "Leon, we’ve talked about this; I’m not ready to get in a relationship yet, I love you, but just as a friend, I can’t see you more than that," She leaned over and held his hand on the table.

"I’m saying this because I don’t want to hurt you. I can choose to play along, but at the end of the day, I’ll just end up hurting a friend. I don’t want that, and I don’t want to lose you, too. You’ve been of great help to me, do you understand?" Audrey asked quietly.

Leon was quiet for a while, but he suddenly smiled at Audrey.

"Don’t worry, I’m not giving up just yet; see you later, boss," He kissed the back of her hand and walked out of the office.

Leon saw Andrew outside the door and paused, he recognized him from yesterday, and he couldn’t help but wonder if Lake had sent him to Audrey.

He didn’t say anything to him, he just held his head high and walked ahead.

Inside the office, Audrey sighed and slumped back on her chair; she could feel the drama in the air, just when she was finally moving on with her life.

The door slowly opened and Andrew walked in.

Audrey slowly looked at him, a small smile playing on her lips. "You found me," She chuckled.

"Luna," Andrew bowed his head to her.

Audrey shook her head and waved her hand in front of her. "Nah, you know that’s a false title, we never marked each other," She stood and walked around her table.

Andrew just stood there looking at his one-time crush, Luna, and his friend.

"Come here, you big guy," Audrey widened her arm for a hug.

Andrew slowly walked up to her and hugged him tightly, he waited for a second before he hugged her back tightly.

"We all missed you," Andrew whispered.

"You tricked us...why?" He slowly withdrew from her and looked at her face.

Audrey sighed, "Well, I was just trying to heal...but it seems like I shouldn’t have hidden my location from you all because, he still found me," She shrugged and walked back to her seat.

Andrew put his hand in his pocket as he stared at her. She had changed a lot; she had become more beautiful, confident, mature, and...he could feel it, she’d become stronger.

"Sit, Andrew, I can feel your tense emotions, chill," Audrey teased.

Andrew went forward and sat down in one of the chairs in front of her table.

"Sandra is upset; she doesn’t miss telling everyone how her best friend abandoned her without a goodbye... we’ve all explained everything to her, but she’s still hurting, she said you could have at least left a letter," Andrew started.

Audrey felt her heart tugging painfully, she also missed her best friend, her family, her friends, and her mate, but she couldn’t do anything about it; her situation was unredeemable.

"But her situation is the least disturbing," Andrew continued, "It’s the Alpha, Audrey, he’s slowly turning into a ghost of himself. We thought he’d be happy without his memories, but he’s living each day as if he recalls every single thing from the past and is blaming himself for it. He needs you, Au-"

"No, Andrew," Audrey quietly cut him off, "He doesn’t need me...he already got someone new, and even if he didn’t have someone new, he wouldn’t still need me, he can’t need me... needing me means dying, and I’ll never be the cause of his death, I went through all these sacrifices to keep him alive, so, I wouldn’t be stupid enough to think that I can eat my cake and have it, Andrew...he doesn’t need me," Audrey finished, looking Andrew right in the eyes.

Andrew rubbed his face. He knew Audrey was right, but he couldn’t help but feel like Lake was never going to move on from her; everything just felt like nothing was going to work out unless they came back together.

"So, why are you here, Andrew, I’m sure you came here to tell me something, so go ahead," Audrey smiled at him.

Andrew sucked his cheeks in, weighing if he should go ahead and tell her or not.

In the end, he decided to tell her.

"It’s about Melody," He informed.

Audrey chuckled, "I’m not surprised in as much as I don’t want to know; I really want to know too, so go on," She nodded.

Andrew smiled at her honesty, "Well, I won’t bore you with a long story. After he woke up five years ago, he refused to eat or work, he was a ghost of himself. Somehow, he ended up with a psychologist, who advised him to start going out and having fun... he did go out, but he just never seemed to have fun," Andrew adjusted on the seat before he continued.

"He was like that for three years, and then, one day, he was returning from Mark’s club and surprised everyone by returning with a girl, Melody. And, from that day, he seemed more depressed," He shrugged slowly.

Audrey was quiet, many thoughts running through her mind.

"In case you were wondering, no, he has never even kissed her before; she doesn’t Live in the pack house, everyone hates her, and I don’t think Alpha Lake will ever make her his Luna," Andrew whispered.

Audrey suddenly burst out laughing, it was the way Andrew said all those things with a straight face.

"What? It’s all true," Andrew blinked.

Audrey nodded, "No, I’m sorry for laughing; it’s just the way you said it as if you’ve had it bottled up inside you for a long time," She sniffed, holding off her laughter.

"Well, I have, I don’t know why, but Alpha Lake seems to spoil her to some extent. And when he hears someone speaking ill of her, he warns them not to. He does not love her, but he spoils her, which leaves everyone confused," Andrew complained.

"How did he introduce her? When he brought her back, what status did he give her?" Audrey asked curiously.

Andrew tilted his head to the side and thought for a while.

"Wait... I just realized..." He paused.

Audrey perked up in her seat, "Yes? What did you realize?" She questioned.

Both of them looked like two teenagers gossiping about some girl they hated in school.

Andrew frowned his face a little and said, "I just realized that he didn’t introduce her as anything. He’d just returned from the club and asked me to give her a room in the new building, but after some time, Melody started to spew rumors that they were engaged, she even went as far as putting a ring on her finger, but Alpha Lake has never worn a ring. Once again, it left us wondering what their relationship really was."

"Maybe he did propose, you know Lake, he likes to keep things low-"

"He never kept things with you low, remember?" Andrew raised his brow at her.

Audrey went quiet, Andrew was right, nothing about her, and Lake was kept quiet, he made sure everyone knew that she was his, he had even announced to everyone at the gala that they would soon be hosting a mating ceremony, and she could still remember the joy and love in his eyes when he said that to the crowd.

She felt sad, once again, wishing things had turned out differently for them. All because of Enisa, but she was glad she killed her.

Now, it was time for her to face reality.

"Don’t worry, Luna. Melody? She’s not his anything," Andrew assured.

Audrey smiled at him, but deep within her, her woman instincts told her that something was going on between Lake and Melody.
