Hated By The Alpha-Chapter 152: Take a step back
Audrey felt an intense spasm within her body as Lake’s lips covered hers.
She was too shocked to move, she had her eyes widened and staring at him in fear.
Was this okay? Was he going to die now?
Lake had his eyes closed, listening to his wolf, and he was so surprised to feel Regal super excited and urging him to actually kiss her.
He, too, was tempted to kiss her lips; they were so soft and inviting, and he knew he’d enjoy kissing them.
For the first time in five years, he wanted a woman! Does it mean there was nothing wrong with him? Had he been seeing a psychologist for nothing all these years?
But he couldn’t just kiss her; he hardly knew her, and he knew he was already pushing it by placing her inside her room and having his lips against hers.
He slowly stepped away and opened his eyes, and that’s when he realized that the woman had been standing frozen in front of him from the moment he kissed her lips.
"Ms. Audrey?" He called softly.
Audrey suddenly blinked, looking up at him and quickly pushing him away.
"Go, Mr. Aloha, you shouldn’t be here," She walked away from him and went to fetch her clothes from her wardrobe.
Lake was surprised by her reaction. He had thought she would shout, act out, or even slap him, but she had just simply asked him to leave. No abusive words? No charges?
And if he hadn’t misheard, he was sure he heard sadness in her voice.
Why would she be sad? She was supposed to be angry, not sad.
That made him question her personality the more. Or was she sad because he hadn’t kissed her? That can’t be.
Audrey sighed, still feeling his eyes on her as she picked her clothes.
She turned to him with a cloth in hand.
"Kissing me wasn’t enough? Do you want to watch me undress?" Audrey stared at him daringly and started to untie her robe.
Lake saw what she was doing and immediately turned, "I’m sorry. I’ll leave," He apologized and walked out of the room.
Audrey sighed and plopped down on her bed, her tears falling down her face.
"Why did you have to show up, Lake? I was trying to leave without you. Why did you kiss me?" She whispered and sniffed.
She was extremely sad and heartbroken, her wolf too. They’ve missed him so much, and feeling his additive lips after so long got them longing for him, for all of him.
She wished she could have kissed him back and brought him over to her bed. She would have loved to have their scents mixed on her sheets and pillows as they worshipped each other’s bodies.
Audrey sighed softly. Unfortunately, all those things could only happen in her mind now.
She stood and went into her bathroom to wash her face in the sink. As she stared at her face in the mirror, she couldn’t help but nod at herself, forcing a smile on her face.
"Cheer up, you’ve come so far, you can overcome this too. We’re stronger than this," she said to herself, smiling.
She walked back to the room and wore her loose blue jeans and a white crop top.
She was about to walk out the door when she heard Selena’s worried voice.
’I know I said not to panic because he couldn’t recognize us, but I think something is wrong somewhere. He is not supposed to feel attracted to you, and now what? He kisses you; kissed you, Audrey. I don’t think that’s right,’ Selena sounded scared and worried.
Audrey stood in front of the door, quiet. Selena was right. This wasn’t supposed to be happening.
’Alright, alright, calm your tits, spirit guide. Maybe it’s meant to happen this way; maybe he’s fighting that spiritual barrier to returning to us, and maybe this was just a test from Karma and Nature to see if he was worth our second chance. Maybe he’s meant to remember us on his own to prove his worth...well... all I’m saying is that I miss him, we miss him,’ Avery finished in a quiet voice.
Audrey suddenly felt a little hope rise within her. Maybe Avery’s thought process might be right. This was just a test...
’I’d like to pause your thoughts, great one. Do not be delusional by Avery. She’s a wolf, and wolves are naturally horny. It’s her horniness speaking, not her brain. You should listen to me, I’m the spiritual one with the brain. I know better,’ Selena interrupted and tarnished Audrey’s hopes.
’All I’m saying is, you have to keep him away, stay away from him too, that way, no one gets hurt, trust me, someone’s about to get real hurt if you don’t step back...’ Selena paused and didn’t say anything else.
Audrey took a deep breath. At the end of the day, Selena was indeed the brian amongst them. Left for her, she would always think with her heart, while Avery thought with her pussy.
So, they needed Selena’s harsh truth to wake them up from their delusions.
Downstairs, Lake had just finished taking a few, no, scratch that...many pictures with Mikhail and was looking through them with the boy sitting by his side on the sofa when he suddenly heard footsteps coming down the stairs.
Her Lavender scent gave her away before he even looked up to see her.
"Mummy, come see," Mikhail waved Audrey over to the sofa and patted beside him for her to sit.
Audrey hesitated for a moment as she remembered what Selena had warned her about, but she could not refuse her boy. After all, she wasn’t going to sit directly beside Lake.
She walked over to the sofa, feeling Lake’s eyes on her but she refused to look at him.
She went over and sat beside her son, "What’s it, Mikhail, done taking the pictures?" She asked softly, playing with his hair.
Mikhail nodded, "Yes, here, let Lake show you," Mikhail suddenly sprang up from the chair and went to sit on the other side beside Lake.
This was one of the very few moments Audrey used to feel like strangling her precious boy.
He was so treacherous sometimes, why had he left her to sit directly with Lake? He could have just taken the iPad from him and shown her the pictures himself.
But he chose to play Cupid.
Lake softly cleared his throat, he was still feeling guilty for what he did to her up in her room, so he didn’t rush to move toward her as the boy left the space between them. He gently stretched the iPad to her, "Here, take a look," He said quietly.
Mikhail was giddy beside him as Audrey took the iPad and scrolled through the pictures. She felt emotional staring at the pictures. Mikhail looked so much like his father, and she could see Lake’s different emotions in each picture: smiling, confused, deep in thought, happy.
All those emotions were displayed across his face as he stared at his son, no doubt, trying to figure out what he felt for the little boy.
"They’re cool, I’m sure your friends will love it," Audrey commented with a smile.
Lake was busy staring at Audrey’s face as she stared at the picture; he was trying his best to get a hold of his emotions, which were threatening to overwhelm him. He was ready to lean in and kiss her again as he felt his wolf rearing up its head in obvious yearning for her.
In the kitchen, Leon was busy looking behind him, watching the mother and child interact with another man as if he were the husband and the father.
He could not help but feel as if Isabella and Green were trying to hide something from him, and to some extent, he suspected Audrey too.
But whatever their secrets might be, he didn’t care, all he knew was that no one was going to take his rightful place beside Audrey.
He was the one who was by her side when she knew no one and had no one in Paris, so sitting back and watching another man take his place beside her was a no-no. He won’t allow it.
"Leon, the carrots, please," Isabella gently tapped Leon’s shoulder who was busy staring behind him.
"Oh, I’m sorry, here it is," He handed over the neatly sliced carrots to her.
Isabella chucked, "Your neck might break, you know?" She teased before moving away from him.
Leon humphed and turned to rinse his hands; he was done in the kitchen; now, he was going out to the living room to stop whatever unknown relationship and bonding was going on between those people.
"I think thier beautiful too," Lake said to Audrey.
Audrey nodded, smiling at him.
Mikhail was smiling as he saw her mother interacting with his new friend. The poor boy didn’t understand why he felt like he always wanted his mother to be with his new friend; he even preferred him to Leon, whom he had known for a long time.
Leon had stopped beside the sofa and was about to say something to Audrey when Mikhail suddenly sprang from the chair and stood in front of Audrey and Lake.
"Mummy, I think I look like Lake!" He said excitedly.
