Harem Legion: Queens of the Apocalypse-Chapter 91 Hellfire, One Woman’s War
Sophia’s chest tightened when she heard Magnus call her name. Her heart skipped a beat. "I’ve never done this, can’t be sure," she said with a frown. "But as long as we don’t hit high, it should work about the same."
"Alright. Pick ten buildings. We fire off the last ten rockets and pull out fast," Magnus ordered.
Taking in a deep breath, Sophia knew this meant stepping into a butcher’s boots. Thousands of lives about to vanish.
One rocket after another launched. At first, she hesitated, guilt weighing heavy. But after a few rounds, her hands trembled - not from nerves, but from a dark, strange excitement.
The ground shook like a quake. Lightwater Residences roared as four buildings crumbled. Smoke and dust clouded the area. For the last few, Sophia had to fire from memory.
Luckily, the buildings were well-aligned - one row after another. By the ninth rocket, Magnus raised a hand to stop her. "Final shot’s for the repurposed swimming hall."
If he guessed right, that spot held Cliff’s water reserves. Blow it up, and the Emberleaf Legion might not get a drop to drink, killing their fight before it began.
The final rocket sang through the air, slamming into the target. The swimming hall exploded. Smoke billowed. No time to linger.
All five retreated instantly.
Ten buildings down. Smoke choked the streets. Visibility was near zero under nightfall. Inside the remaining twenty or so buildings, panic took over. Soldiers ran like mad, fearing they were next, only to run straight into waiting spiders and centipedes.
Magnus led the team down back alleys. "Switch to metal Crystals. Move. Fast."
All five were four-times-speed Awakened. In less than twenty minutes, they reached the Humvee near the outskirts and drove out via Springvale City’s south exit, circling back toward Ironvale County.
At 3 a.m., the vehicle sped past Ironvale County’s edge. By 5:10 a.m., they rolled safely back into the bunker. Home.
Only when the Humvee went silent inside the bunker did Sophia release the breath she’d been holding. Her clothes clung to her body, soaked in cold sweat.
Everything she’d done tonight could fill ten lifetimes.
This morning, she cried for a man - first time since becoming an adult. At noon, that same man stole her first kiss. And tonight, she destroyed six aircraft, two barracks, one IFV, nine residential buildings, and a swimming hall - killing thousands.
What... what had she become?
Even someone who once shot down drug dealers without blinking now felt like she was drifting through a dream. Her eyes were unfocused. The last twenty-four hours felt like a whole life.
Emily and the others woke, the busload of women buzzing with news of their return. Cheers erupted as they heard what had transpired.
A celebration broke out. Sophia, without question, was their hero tonight.
Cheers echoed through the bunker. The Ice Regiment’s women gathered around, lifting Sophia off the ground, tossing her into the air.
Next, it was Magnus. Then Grace. Then the Doyle sisters. Blowing up all the aircraft of the Seventh Sovereign Vanguard was revenge for the more than 200 sisters the Ice Regiment had lost. And from now on, no more worrying about their bombers.
Some team members who had lost close sisters started crying with rage and relief. The mood was contagious - Emily and a few other instructors couldn’t help but tear up themselves.
But the celebration didn’t last long. Magnus called an immediate meeting with Emily and the others. The Ice Regiment’s crystal advantage window was closing fast - no time for delays.
"Today, Sophia and I are resting with three others," Magnus said straight up. "Charlotte, you’ll take command of Sophia’s unit today..."
"No need! I’m not resting!" Sophia cut him off hard. "You think we special forces are made of glass?" She started to say more, but Magnus turned and gave her a look. Just one. She swallowed it all, snorted, and muttered, "Fine. I’m off-duty today."
What the hell? Emily, Charlotte, and Liana all looked at her in disbelief. Just one look from Magnus and she gave in? That wasn’t like her at all...
Grace and the Doyle sisters knew the story behind it, but they kept quiet.
"Right," Magnus continued, "Emily, Charlotte, split into two groups. Each takes 40 squads - one heads toward Rockford, the other to the East Gate of Springvale City. Your job is to hunt down the scattered enemy factions. Strip them of any weapons - take what you can. If they surrender, let them live. If they resist, you know what to do. Don’t go soft. Ask yourselves: if we were in their place, would they show us mercy?"
"Got it," Charlotte nodded firmly.
Emily asked, "What if we come across infantry vehicles? Should we take those too?"
That made Magnus wince. Sophia looked a bit embarrassed too.
He’d been eyeing those infantry vehicles for ages, but none of them knew how to use that kind of tech. Truth is, special forces weren’t superheroes like the rumors made them out to be - they didn’t fly jets or drive tanks, much less fool with rockets.
What special forces did excel at was sabotage, recon, intel gathering, extractions, psychological warfare, and VIP protection. Deadly, yes, but still human.
Infantry vehicles these days? Pure high-tech stuff. Unless a soldier came straight from a tank unit, odds were they wouldn’t even know where to start.
"If you can catch a few operators alive, grab ’em," Sophia said with a shrug. "Drive the vehicles back to the bunker. We don’t know how to use them? Well - we can learn."
Magnus glanced at Liana. "Teacher Jabbar, you’ll be leading a squad today."
"No problem," Liana replied, calm and confident.
"Take five squads to Ironvale County. Top target - find toilet paper. Supermarkets, depots, warehouses - hit them all. If you’ve got time, swing by Towerfell Town too. We’ve got to keep the basic needs of our people covered."
Every second mattered now. While they still had their crystal advantage, it was time to snatch up weapons - especially those vehicles. Once they had that, the Ice Regiment would have room to maneuver... and maybe start carving out a real future.
