Harem Legion: Queens of the Apocalypse-Chapter 83 I Built This, You Break It
The room had been dead silent for over a minute. Sophia figured there was no point in sticking around anymore, so she turned and headed for the door. Emily, Charlotte, and a few others stood up too - they were ready to call it a night.
Magnus lit a cigarette, steadying the anger burning in his chest. He spoke, voice low but tight, "If all of you think I no longer belong here, just say it. You..."
Words caught in his throat. He stood up. The women froze, eyes snapping to him.
He didn’t look back. Instead, he walked straight toward the door, stopped where Sarah sat, and reached for her hand. "Sarah, come with me."
"Okay," she nodded softly.
With her hand in his, Magnus strode out of the bunker. The others could only watch, stunned and silent.
They knew, deep down, this was about Abigail and Emma. Magnus had saved the two sisters - and slept with them. Now he still wanted to stay with Sarah? To keep them all?
That hit a nerve. The girls started wondering if Magnus had saved people out of lust, not duty. Especially considering how he’d always insisted Ice Regiment stay all-female - it just didn’t sit right anymore.
So Sophia had quietly pulled Emily and Charlotte together earlier, planning to confront him. They’d hoped to pressure him into admitting what he really wanted. Did he plan to work his way through every woman in the team?
But they hadn’t expected Magnus to push back harder than any of them.
What none of them realized, though, was that Magnus wasn’t just storming out of a meeting - he was leaving for good.
Magnus didn’t know what was truly going on in their heads either. His grip on Sarah’s hand tightened as they walked, heart growing colder with every step.
He couldn’t believe it.
All his efforts, from nothing to building this whole team with his own hands - now it all meant shit. Now he was just a man being pushed out by the very ones he protected. For what? For doing what he thought was right?
The Doyle sisters... he’d already admitted he was wrong. What more did they want? Was he supposed to put a blade to his own throat for forgiveness?
He was done. Truly. The betrayal cut deeper than anything. It wasn’t just Sophia - that he could handle. What crushed him was Emily, Liana, Charlotte... the ones he thought still stood with him.
If he could build the Ice Regiment once, he could do it again.
Earlier that evening, the Doyle mess had already rattled him. Now with this turning into public judgment? Magnus felt himself cracking.
A few passing female teammates noticed something was off. They glanced over - saw Sarah with him. Saw the storm in his face.
Then Luxe and Isabel appeared up ahead.
Magnus stopped. "You two..."
He paused for a beat, took a breath deep enough to choke down the fire inside.
"Do me a favor - grab a couple of girls and load some water and food into the Warrior. I’m taking Sarah out. We won’t be gone long."
"Uh - yeah, sure," Isabel nodded, still processing.
At the Warrior, Magnus opened the passenger door, gently pulled Sarah close, took one last breath to calm himself.
"Sarah... are you really willing to leave with me? I mean... for good. No coming back."
Sarah tilted her head up, those clear eyes locking with his. "I’m sure. I’ll go wherever you go."
Several of the girls nearby heard it.
Especially that last line - "We’re not coming back."
Old teammates from Springvale University rushed over, panic in their voices. "Magnus, wait - you’re really leaving? Why?"
"I’ve got some things to take care of." Magnus forced a smile as he gave a vague explanation. Sarah climbed into the vehicle while Magnus walked around to the driver’s seat.
Isabel and Luxe hadn’t caught what he said earlier. They were busy with a dozen other women loading water and food into the back. They assumed he was heading out on some errand, planning to return in a few days.
Engine rumbled to life. Magnus leaned out and called for Isabel to open the bunker gate. She sensed something was off but didn’t overthink it and started walking out to open it. She’d only taken a couple steps when someone rushed over and grabbed her arm.
"Isabel! Magnus is leaving with Sarah. For good!"
"What?" Isabel stopped in her tracks, then quickly ran to the driver’s side and pounded on the window.
By then, the others from the meeting had caught wind of what was happening. They arrived at a run, just in time to see Magnus trying to drive away with Sarah. Sophia jumped in front of the car, yelling, "Magnus, get out of the car!"
Since Isabel wasn’t opening the bunker gate for him anymore, Magnus had to get out and do it himself. But he was already set on going - too much had piled up, and now his stubborn streak kicked in. No one could stop him.
The only person who ever could was already in the car.
Sophia thought he was coming out because of her and rushed at him, shoving him hard in the chest. "Just like that, Magnus? You’re just going to run? Not taking any responsibility, huh?"
Charlotte and Grace ran up fast, pulling Sophia back. It didn’t look like a bluff anymore. Magnus was dead serious.
"Magnus, don’t be reckless. Let’s talk this out," Charlotte said, holding Sophia behind her.
"Throwing a tantrum just because something didn’t go your way? What kind of man are you?" Sophia shouted behind her sister as Grace tried to calm her down.
"Come on, just stop!" Grace tried pulling Sophia away.
Emily stepped in front of Magnus, her voice tight. "You really mean it? You’re leaving like this?"
On either side of him, Abigail and Emma stood in the way, guilt written all over their faces. "It’s our fault, Magnus. We made it hard on you. Don’t leave. If anyone should go, it’s us - "
"This isn’t about you two." Magnus looked at them first, his tone softening. "It’s me who owes you. I messed up. It won’t happen again."
Then he turned toward Emily. "Emily, I just need to get out for a while. I’ll be back soon. Handle things in the Ice Regiment while I’m gone."
Emily heard his words, but the way he looked at her - it wasn’t the same anymore. Especially when he looked at her. Something had changed. And it twisted in her gut.
"No!" she snapped, shaking her head hard. "I’m not letting you go!"
"Yeah, Magnus, don’t act like a kid," Charlotte chimed in beside her. "We still need you."
Like a kid? Even Charlotte saw it that way.
Magnus kept his face calm, but inside, he felt rage boiling.
What if I’d ruled like Cliff from the start? Controlled you with food and water? Would things be like this now?
Would you have ganged up to shut me out?
All I ever wanted was to treat you like family. And this is what I get.
A bitter smile tugged at his lips. He said flatly, "If you think I’m throwing a tantrum, then fine - call it that. But even if you stop me today, you won’t stop me tomorrow. Let’s part on good terms. I’m done. I’m tired..."
