Harem Legion: Queens of the Apocalypse-Chapter 44 They’re Coming
"Move, now!"
Magnus snapped on his helmet, voice sharp. "How far are they?"
"Three hundred meters! No more than that!"
"Go!" He leapt off the vehicle, boots hitting the ground hard. "All units, regroup! Everyone, on me!"
The female soldiers froze at his urgency. Magnus never lost his calm. Seeing him panic, they dropped their tools without question and rushed toward him, confused, unsure where to form up.
"Liana!" Magnus grabbed Liana’s arm. "Take a squad and unload every weapon from the trucks. Bring them here. As many as you can, fast!"
"On it!" Liana shouted back, spun around and barked, "You, 100 with me! Move!"
"Charlotte! Sophia!" Magnus whirled, voice rising. "Get the seasoned troops - all of them. Anyone in the Female Special Forces. I want Awakened only! You’ve got thirty seconds, no more!"
"Yes, sir!" Charlotte saluted on instinct.
"Understood!" Sophia matched the salute, knowing now wasn’t the time to argue.
Magnus turned on his heel. "Emily!" he called out loud. "The Crystals - where are they? I need all the gold ones here in 30 seconds. Get moving!"
"I’m on it!" Emily didn’t waste another second, yelling for help as she sprinted off. Most of the Crystals were in her possession.
Barely a minute passed - Charlotte and Sophia had gathered their troops. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
"Commander, unit assembled!" Charlotte reported.
Emily came running up next. "Magnus! I have thirty-seven gold Crystals here, for now - "
"Later!" Magnus cut her off, turning to Chloe. "Chloe, distance - how far now?"
"Still..." Chloe’s voice trembled. "Two hundred meters!"
"Hand it over!" Sophia snatched Chloe’s scope, eyes scanning rapidly. "Two hundred and thirty meters. And... there’s a lot of them. That’s three companies at least!"
"What now?"
Emily’s face went pale; the women nearby visibly tensed.
"Hold yourselves together!" Magnus barked. "Charlotte - find thirty good shots. Awakened only. Liana, help her arm them fast - "
"Thirty?! Are you out of your mind?" Sophia stepped up, furious. "You’re sending thirty of us against over four hundred trained soldiers? That’s suicide!"
Magnus didn’t flinch. He roared back, voice as sharp as steel, "I’m going with you! What are you afraid of? I stake my life on it - none of you will fall, got it?"
"You - "
"Follow orders!" Magnus barked, cutting Sophia off. "Now! Emily, hand each woman a Metal Crystal, right now. Liana, make sure we’ve got enough ammo for all thirty - don’t come up short."
"One hundred meters left! They’re only a hundred meters from us!" Charlotte called through her binoculars.
The thirty "death squad" women were armed to the teeth. Including Magnus, they were thirty-one in total. He didn’t waste time. "Listen up! You’re all Awakened. No need to take off your gloves. Just do as I do. Place the Metal Crystal between your palms, then squeeze hard. Crush it. Everyone - do it!"
With a deafening "Boom!", Luke’ troops pulled up about fifty meters from the convoy’s outer circle. A missile whooshed over, blasting two of the outer SUV vehicles several meters into the air.
Every woman crushed their crystal. In an instant, they felt the shift - a heavy pull downward, like they’d just strapped on full armor. They were slower, stiffer.
"They’re flexing!" Charlotte snapped, ignoring how her body felt heavier now. "Trying to scare us before the first shot."
Magnus didn’t reply. Instead, he pulled out his pistol, aimed it skyward, and fired. The shot cracked through the air, catching everyone’s eyes. And then... he did something that made jaws drop.
Even the ones not in the death squad stared, frozen. Some screamed out in shock.
Magnus turned the pistol to his own temple, and without hesitating - bang!
The bullet pinged harmlessly away. Magnus didn’t move an inch.
Everyone stood stunned - Emily, Charlotte, Sophia... no one said a word.
"That’s what the Metal Crystal does," Magnus shouted. "You saw it. So don’t freeze later; this thing will stop anything but a rocket. Even rockets won’t kill us - might toss us through the air, but you won’t die. Got it?"
"Got it!"
"Understood!"
"Yes, sir!"
Heads nodded fast. Magnus turned to Charlotte. "Renard, you go first. Pretend to negotiate. Once we’re close, we hit them hard and fast."
"Yes!" Charlotte didn’t hide her excitement. The crystals worked far better than expected.
Magnus added quickly, "No matter how many they have - don’t let a single one escape. We’ve got one hour with these crystals, more than enough time to wipe them out."
The squad saluted, snapping bullets into chambers. Magnus gave Charlotte a quick glance. She nodded, made a signal in midair, then crouched low and started moving fast toward the enemy lines.
"We’re the Female Special Forces Unit of the Third Army, Northern Reaches Command," Charlotte called out boldly. "I’m Instructor Renard. Who are you people?"
She held her rifle up with one hand toward the sky, her other hand raised in a clear sign of surrender. Behind her, Magnus and the rest inched forward slowly, their hands raised the same way.
Luke sat in his command vehicle, watching the group approach through his scope. His lips curled upward. If he hadn’t taken those twenty or so female students as hostages, he might’ve walked right into their trap.
But now...
He snorted coldly and ordered, "Open fire!"
