Chapter 211: Leo’s fall

Third Person POV

Leo was furious. So, he swore to himself that he would get revenge on that damned woman.

But first, he wanted information and tried searching for the name Chi Lee, but found absolutely nothing.

Maybe she wasn’t that important after all?

It was hard to know for sure, but he would soon have his answer, as his phone rang. That would be the first of many bad calls in those days.

Jean, a business partner and someone he considered a close friend, wanted to cut both business and personal ties.

Why had this happened all of a sudden?

The reason was simple: the man had been pressured and quickly decided to abandon Leo.

But that was just the beginning. He received more calls and messages of the same kind. And quickly, the entire empire of connections and allies he believed he had built was crumbling.

In the end, no matter how naturally charismatic Leo was, everything he had built was a house of cards.

As long as it was advantageous for everyone, he could naturally attract people and increase his influence.

But the moment the tide turned, it became clear that no one was willing to truly take a risk for him.

Likewise, if it had been another close ally, Leo would have done the same.

That was the nature of most relationships formed in that business world. As long as there were benefits for everyone, the friendships continued, but no one would risk anything for anyone else.

That said, even knowing things were like this, even knowing he would have done the same, Leo was furious to see how he was being abandoned.

How dare they act this way? Didn’t they know how bright his future was?

He swore revenge on everyone and responded to most calls angrily.

That was the worst way to handle the situation. But he was too angry to do anything else.

Instead of using his natural charisma to try to keep bridges intact and salvage at least part of what he had, he decided to fight with more and more people.

And that was just the first day.

"Son, you need to listen to me!" Richard shouted angrily, tired of trying to have a normal conversation with his son.

Five days had passed since the confrontation with Lee Hua.

Just five measly days, and yet everything was falling apart.

Leo was no longer the same as before. He had never experienced so much stress and anxiety, so he didn’t know how to handle those emotions.

In this whirlwind, Richard, who was usually impatient and impulsive, had to act as the voice of reason.

Despite everything, the man had built a company from scratch and had already dealt with situations where he had nearly lost everything.

Those were very tough times, but back then, he kept his cool, tried to minimize losses as much as possible, and came back stronger in the end.

Knowing this was the only way to handle the situation, he tried to advise his own son.

He kept reminding Leo that he should stay calm and do everything possible to minimize the damage.

But Leo wouldn’t accept his opinion. The truth was that Leo always saw his father as a brutish man who worked hard.

He might have achieved results, but he was an ignorant person whose opinion shouldn’t be taken seriously.

Leo considered himself far superior to his father in every way. And in that moment of crisis, he began to show his true colors.

He didn’t even pretend to consider his father’s opinions. Many times, he treated him like an employee.

There was no respect or consideration whatsoever.

Leo didn’t want to hear about damage control, retreating, or accepting defeat. He wanted to get even, to turn the tables. He was certain he could find a way to resolve the situation.

He was a genius like no other, so naturally, he would find the best solutions.

But life would force him to discover that this wasn’t the case.

The following days were a true hell.

Leo only made his situation worse with every meeting, with every desperate attempt to hold onto some position of power.

His once-impeccable reputation was becoming a laughingstock.

At first, there were still some who hoped he would recover. But as Leo kept fueling conflicts, attacking old allies, and refusing to take advice, even the few who stood by him abandoned him.

Richard watched it all with a mix of anger and sadness.

Until one night, after yet another heated argument, Richard finally lost his patience.

His son was yelling, saying that everyone was incompetent, that he would still shut the world’s mouths, that everyone would regret doubting him.

Richard, who had been trying to be the voice of reason until then, simply exploded:

"You don’t understand anything, Leo!" His voice echoed through the room, laden with frustration. "You think you’re a genius, but you’re just a spoiled brat who’s never built anything on his own."

Leo’s eyes widened, consumed by rage.

"How dare you talk to me like that? Without me, this family would be nothing! I am your future!"

Richard sighed deeply, looking at the man with profound disappointment.

It hurt more than any financial loss he had ever faced. But he finally realized he had always been wrong.

"Enough," he said in a grave tone. "I tried, Leo. I really tried to save you from yourself. But you don’t listen, you don’t learn! Don’t forget that the company is still mine. You’re nothing more than the owner’s son."

Finally, Leo paused to listen for a moment.

"That said, I’m tired. I won’t be able to handle this crisis on my own," he said with an exhausted sigh. "So, I’m leaving everything I still have to Vanessa. At the very least, she’ll do a better job than you."

The decision was partly motivated by his inability to tolerate Leo’s foolishness any longer. And partly because Lee Hua had threatened him, demanding he do this.

Richard didn’t want to risk his own retirement to protect a son who no longer listened to him.

The words landed like a crushing weight.

Leo laughed, but it was a nervous, hysterical laugh, full of denial. "You wouldn’t do that. You wouldn’t have the guts."

But Richard didn’t respond. He simply stood up, turned his back, and left, leaving his son alone in the room.

Leo shouted, calling after him. Then he called his father’s secretary, but she didn’t answer.

Not just her, no one answered him anymore. All the employees whose contacts he had stopped responding to.
