Chapter 84: Chapter 84: Pushed into the Sea

In the evening, the sky that had been gloomy all afternoon finally began to fall with scattered snowflakes.

The cold wind was bleak.

Sienna Monroe took June Ewing’s car back to The Sterling Estate.

After dinner, June Ewing took her to pick a few pots of clivia in the garden and even shared some tips and techniques for flower maintenance.

Once they were done, June Ewing went inside first to shake off the snow from her clothes, while Sienna lingered in the garden for a few minutes, her gaze fixed on the snowflakes swirling down from the sky.

Instinctively, she wanted to reach out to catch the snow outside the umbrella, but halfway there, her hand was suddenly grasped by a cool large hand.

She was momentarily stunned and, turning her head to the side, unexpectedly met a pair of gentle and affectionate eyes behind glasses.

The servant who had been holding the umbrella had quietly retreated at some point.

A hint of surprise filled her eyes, "When did you come back?"

Caleb Sinclair looked at her indulgently, "Just arrived. Mom said you were in the garden, so I came over directly."

He glanced again at the four pots of clivia she had picked and curiously asked, "Why the sudden interest in clivia?"

"I saw this flower in mom’s office this afternoon, thought it looked nice, so I took a few pots to try and grow them," she replied casually, glancing at her hand tightly wrapped in his, her brow slightly furrowed.

Caleb’s hands were wide and thick.

In the past, she used to love holding his hand, believing it to be more romantic than kissing.

But at this moment, she seemed to only feel that coolness seeping into her once warm palm, slowly flowing into her bloodstream, spreading to her heart.

It caused her heart to skip a beat, sending a cold shiver through her.

Her chest felt as if it was desperately holding back disgust and repulsion, and she quickly withdrew her hand, naturally showing it to him, "My hands are all dirty."

Her originally slender and fair fingers were now covered in dust, with her right fingertips even stained with soil.

Caleb did not insist, smiling, "Let’s go wash your hands. The snow and wind outside are heavy, you shouldn’t stay out here for too long; you might catch a cold."

"Okay."

Sienna responded flatly, starting to move, walking shoulder to shoulder with him towards the house, her arm hanging by her side, forcefully spreading open her palm, trying to let the icy snowflakes dissipate the warmth he left in her hand.

Once inside, she went directly to the washroom, rubbing her hand, the one Caleb had just held, with hand soap.

Only when the slight sting replaced that cool touch did she stop, her tense expression relaxing, drying her hands before heading out.

Ding!

The phone on the living room coffee table suddenly chimed with a message notification.

Her steps halted, she quickly walked a few steps closer and saw Caleb looking at her phone.

Sienna’s heart was seized instantly.

Her first thought was the text message from that unknown number.

Usually, she would back them up and delete them, but today’s messages, she hadn’t yet had the chance to do so.

If Caleb discovered them...

How would she explain?

She didn’t dare think further and quickly called out, "Caleb!"

Caleb hesitated at the sound, turning to look at her and asking calmly, "What’s up, honey?"

Meeting his gaze, Sienna’s nerves were taut, maintaining a calm demeanor as she approached and said, "The kitchen made apple peach drinks today, why don’t you ask if there’s any left? I’d like to take some home."

As she spoke, she noticed that her phone was showing the lock screen.

She was taken aback for a moment.

The heavy weight on her chest seemed to ease a bit.

Then she recalled that she had changed the lock screen password over ten days ago.

At the time, worried that the messages from the unknown number might be seen, she had specifically set it so messages wouldn’t appear on the lock screen list.

Even if that number sent a message, without unlocking it, the content could not be viewed.

Thinking this, she discreetly sighed in relief, "Was it my phone ringing just now?"

"Yeah, it should be a message." Caleb’s gaze was gentle as he handed her the phone, with a hint of suspicion showing in his eyes, "But... honey, when did you change the password?"

Sienna knew that, with his suspicious nature, he would definitely ask.

She looked up and explained, "The last time someone used Stella’s phone to spread rumors with pictures of me and Sebastian, I realized the password was too simple and easy for others to exploit, so I changed it. Why?"

Caleb scrutinized her expression, but he didn’t detect anything unusual.

He chuckled, "Is that so? No problem, I was just asking casually, I’ll check the kitchen."

"Alright."

Sienna watched his departing figure, clutching her phone with slightly pale knuckles, unlocked the screen, and checked the messages.

Sure enough, it was a message from that mysterious number.

Luckily, she had changed the password and settings.

[Danger! Don’t let Sebastian board the ship tomorrow! The Albatross transport ship involved in a shipwreck nine days ago had ten kilograms of drugs hidden in fresh fruits imported from abroad. To prevent Sebastian from discovering them, Miles Lockwood will have someone push him into the sea at 10:47!]

Board the ship?!

Push into the sea?!

Ten kilograms of drugs?!

Sienna’s pupils contracted, her mind scrambling with these three keywords.

She hadn’t been in contact with Sebastian for a few days and was unaware of his schedule. However, she had seen the reports about The Albatross shipwreck incident.

This accident caused seven deaths, nine injuries, and five missing persons, causing a stir across the internet at the time.

She knew of Miles Lockwood, the second young master of The Lockwood Group, an arrogant and unruly playboy famous in Imperial City’s elite circle.

Sebastian was investigating the shipwreck incident.

The seawater in winter was icy and biting. If...

If he really was pushed into the sea, what would be his chance of survival?

Her breath caught, not daring to think further.

She had to inform Sebastian in advance.

She opened WeChat and was searching for Sebastian’s chat when June Ewing’s voice suddenly came, "Sienna, what’s the matter? Why do you look so pale?"

Sienna’s fingers froze, looking up at June Ewing descending the stairs, she casually found an excuse, "Maybe it’s from being out in the wind just now."

"Are you alright? I told you to come in sooner, it’s quite cold out there."

"I’m fine."

June Ewing surveyed the surroundings, "Where’s Caleb? Didn’t he come back?"

"I asked him to help me pack the apple peach drink in the kitchen."

"If you like it, next time you come back I’ll have the kitchen prepare a bit more for you."

"Okay."

As the two conversed, Caleb had already returned carrying a thermal container, "Mom, it’s getting late. You should rest, Sienna and I are heading back now."

June Ewing instructed, "It’s snowing outside, drive slowly and stay safe on the road."

Leaving The Sterling Estate, Sienna got into the car and searched on Weibo for news about the shipwreck.

Caleb stopped the car at a red light, glanced sideways at her phone, "What are you looking at so intently, The Albatross shipwreck?"

Sienna paused slightly, explaining to prevent his suspicion, "I see it’s been trending on Weibo for many days now."

Caleb nodded, "Not to mention the loss of goods, just those lost seven lives, and the grim prospects of the five missing. The Sheffield Group is in trouble this time."

The Albatross was under The Sheffield Group’s maritime transport division.

The Sheffield Group and The Lockwood Group have been partners for nearly a decade, and this is their first major incident.

Sienna asked, "Are you familiar with The Sheffield Group?"

"Not really, a bit more familiar with Miles Lockwood."

She looked surprised, "How do you know him?"

Caleb laughed, "Had drinks with him twice, played basketball and golf once, all met by chance, not very close."

Hearing this, Sienna clenched her fist.

Perhaps the trust in him had long dissipated, a thought arose in her mind.

Was Caleb involved in that ten kilograms of drugs?

She pursed her lips, feigned to chastise, "That playboy lives carefreely, stay away from him, don’t get led astray."

Caleb’s eyes filled with amusement, he chuckled and pledged, "Yes. As you command, darling. I will definitely keep my distance!"
