Half-Hearted: Mr. Sinclair, Stop the Act!-Chapter 120: Share Transfer Agreement
Caleb Sinclair said he would accompany Sienna Monroe for dinner tonight, but in the end, he broke his promise.
However, Sienna was not distressed by this, instead, she found herself quite at ease.
As for the shares, she still harbors a faint worry and tension in her heart.
The only variable in this matter lies with June Ewing.
Even though Caleb went to confront her, she is, after all, his mother, and Sienna understands well how deep Caleb’s filial piety towards June Ewing is.
It’s inevitable that he’d help June hide things, but what if there’s also a variable in the matter of the share transfer?
Sienna’s heart feels heavy, and because she is deep in thought, she didn’t eat much of the dinner tonight, only drank half a bowl of fish and tofu soup, ate two pieces of ribs, and then put down her chopsticks.
Mrs. Lewis noticed and hurriedly asked, "Madam, is the food not to your liking? Why did you eat only this little?"
Upon hearing this, Sienna paused for a moment, then ate another piece of egg pancake.
Without giving Mrs. Lewis another chance to persuade, she spoke up, "Put away the leftovers. Save them for when he comes back."
Mrs. Lewis acknowledged and tidied up the items before leaving.
Caleb returned after nine o’clock.
He paused in the living room for a deep breath before stepping into the dimly lit room.
In the evening, Sienna preferred not having strong lights as they hurt her eyes, affecting her acting; hence, the lamps in the room were quite dim.
At the moment, she was soaking her feet, and upon seeing him, her face was once again weak and blank, her empty eyes slowly focusing and showing a bit of helplessness.
Her pale lips moved slightly, "You’re back."
Listening to her voice, Caleb’s heart inexplicably sank, and he hurried over to sincerely apologize, "I’m sorry, Sienna, something came up. Have you eaten?"
"Yes, delivered by Mrs. Lewis," Sienna answered softly, her tone carrying a subtle hint of concern, "I didn’t know if you’d be back for dinner, but I saved a portion for you, it’s in the microwave."
Caleb was momentarily taken aback, a gentle breeze seemed to caress his heart, creating ripples.
The light in his eyes also softened as he apologized, "It’s my fault, I promised you before leaving but failed to deliver. I’m sorry, dear."
Sienna looked at him, her mouth opened slightly, slowly shaking her head, "It’s okay."
Caleb squeezed her hand gently, smiling, "I really haven’t eaten tonight, I’ll heat it up later. Thank you for thinking of me."
Then he glanced at the basin where she was soaking her feet, "Did you fill this water yourself?"
"Yes," Sienna responded lightly, pausing for a few seconds before adding deliberately, "Since you weren’t here, I had to do it myself."
Caleb’s heart softened upon hearing this.
He knew Sienna still bore grudges concerning his affair with Vivian Nash.
One could tell from her usual refusal to let him touch her.
But when the police came to investigate her illegal business, he also felt her deep reliance on him.
And now, he knows she still cares about him.
Thinking this way, even if she had long discovered traces between him and Vivian Nash, without exposing it, she was hoping her mother would handle it.
It was understandable.
She still loved him, her heart reluctant to let him go.
"Sorry, dear, I’m late," with these thoughts, he apologized once more, his tone even softer as he placed the items in his hands on the bedside table, "On my way back, I bought you some sweet tofu pudding, try it later."
As he spoke, he reached into the water to test the temperature, "The water’s gotten cold, how long has it been?"
"Ten minutes."
"That’s about it; the water is cool now, you shouldn’t soak for too long."
Saying so, he took a dry towel from nearby, placed it on her leg, carefully lifting her feet from the water and gently placing them on the towel, using the sides to wipe them dry with tenderness.
Every action was gentle and meticulous.
Once both feet were dry, he helped her lay down on the bed, "Lie down for a while, I’ll go empty the water."
Sienna nodded slightly, watching him carry the basin out through the door, taking her gaze back to the items he had placed on the bedside table.
A packaged box in a white bag.
It should be the sweet tofu pudding he mentioned just now.
There was also a document-type item, but with the cover facing down, she couldn’t see the text.
Yet, she faintly had her suspicions.
Her lips couldn’t help but curve into a subtle smile.
She knew that throwing out the contract was just a step away.
Once she signed her name, the shares would be completely transferred.
Caleb returned quickly, unfolded the folding table, opened the sweet tofu packaging, and handed her the spoon, "Try it, I asked the owner to add three spoons of sugar."
Sienna stared at the smooth, white tofu pudding in a brief daze.
She had a preference for sweet treats.
Always feeling that desserts could heal all the sorrows in the world.
Therefore, she loved tofu pudding to be sweet too, always needing three spoons of sugar whenever she had it.
The once scattered eyes rippled at this moment, taking the spoon and trying a taste; indeed, it was the sweetness she liked and could accept.
Having acted for so many days, this sweetness seemed like a reward and encouragement for her journey full of hardship and bitterness.
Seeing her eat happily, Caleb’s smile deepened, "Does it taste good?"
"Yes, it’s delicious."
"If you like it, I’ll buy more tomorrow."
Sienna softly replied, eating a few more bites before appearing to remember something, quickly reaching to grasp his arm, the light in her eyes trembling slightly, "How’s the investigation going? Any leads?"
Caleb felt the strength in her grip and hurriedly held her hand in return.
He pressed his lips together, pondering, "Yes, there are some findings; the person seems to be targeting Radiance Beauty Spa, but because Radiance Beauty Spa had properly corrected things twice before, finding no opportunity, they sought to start with you."
He picked up the document from the table, "This afternoon I spoke to my mom at Radiance Beauty Spa, discussed for a long time, since we’re in the open while the enemy is hidden, we don’t know what methods or schemes they might use.
So, we’ve decided to temporarily transfer your shares to me, and once we identify the whistleblower, we’ll transfer them back to you."
