Half-Hearted: Mr. Sinclair, Stop the Act!-Chapter 102: Worries
On Monday afternoon, a report about drugs hidden in The Lockwood Group’s transport vehicles quickly shot to the top of the trending list.
Sienna Monroe saw the report just as she was leaving the art association hall.
Today she was here to discuss the exhibited paintings with two artists and the exhibition initiator from the association, from morning until the afternoon.
The entire exhibition featured a total of 99 paintings, with Audrey contributing 46 pieces and the remaining 53 by Faye Irving.
She paused, glancing at the contents of the report, a hint of astonishment flickering across her eyes.
Sebastian Prescott acted this quickly?
She thought he would wait until Thursday to make a move.
After all, that day would be perfect to catch them all in one go.
"Monroe, what are you spacing out for? Let’s go." Audrey noticed she wasn’t moving and specifically came back to call her.
Monroe snapped back, looked into her eyes, and flashed a light smile, "Sis, I’m afraid I can’t join you for dinner. You all go ahead; I have something to handle here."
"You can’t just leave without eating; you’ve got one more in your belly." Audrey protested. "No matter how busy you are, you need to fill your stomach."
She hadn’t told Audrey about her fake pregnancy.
Only Nora Joyce, Auntie Rennick, and Sebastian Prescott knew the truth.
As for her uncle’s family, she hadn’t mentioned her "pregnancy"; there was no need.
She had weighed her options and was not planning to tell Audrey, but with Audrey collaborating with the art gallery, word naturally slipped through other employees.
Earlier this afternoon, everyone was discussing heatedly and didn’t think of having food.
It was Audrey who said she was hungry, and when it was too late to finish discussing before heading out to eat, the vice president ordered some food.
She smiled radiantly, her voice warm, "Didn’t we eat what the vice president ordered at noon? I’m not hungry now. If I get hungry later, I’ll just buy something to snack on."
Hearing her say this, Audrey, not the type to nag, didn’t press further, "Just don’t starve yourself, that’s all. Where are you going? Want a ride?"
"No need, it’s easy to get a cab here. I’ll catch one."
Monroe waved her hand and headed to the roadside, casually hailing a taxi, "To Aethel Law Firm."
Over ten minutes later, the car arrived at the law firm’s entrance.
Monroe looked at the shining large letters of the sign in the sunlight, suddenly remembering she hadn’t asked if he was at the firm.
Just as she was about to grab her phone from her bag to call, suddenly, a deep, cool, familiar voice sounded behind her.
"Sienna?"
Monroe froze, turned around, seeing a tall and slender figure standing six or seven meters away.
He was wearing a dark brown coat, with golden sunlight wrapping around him, dispelling that hint of cool detachment, allowing some rare warm glow to be seen.
Sebastian Prescott deeply eyed the vibrant figure in the winter sunshine.
The afternoon wind gently blew, seeming it could seep through clothes, flowing into his cold heart.
He stepped over, his voice low, "Why are you here?"
Monroe replied, "I saw the report, Miles Lockwood has been caught?"
Sebastian’s gaze fell on her beautiful, vibrant face, moved away, his tone remaining indifferent, "Yes, he’s already controlled by the police; I just got back from the station. Come on, let’s talk in the office."
The police station...
That’s probably regarding Miles Lockwood’s ten kilograms of drugs.
Entering the office, Hannah Nash didn’t ask anything, just brought two cups of tea.
Monroe noticed that Sebastian’s cup was also tea, which surprised her a bit.
Having been to his office many times, she remembered Sebastian always drinking black coffee.
This tea, indeed was her first sighting.
She raised her head, coincidentally meeting his deep, cold eyes, moved her lips, and began, "I thought we’d wait until Thursday to act."
Sebastian heard, nodded slightly, "Yes, the police planned to wait until Thursday when the last batch of drugs was delivered before acting, but Miles Lockwood has been busy these days, and there were some unexpected things happening in Zanford City,
so we had to make a move sooner. Yesterday’s shipment sent to Imperial City has been searched, and for the remaining batch, just leave it to the police; it won’t take long, within two or three days at most."
Monroe slowly sighed in relief at these words.
Just one gram of drugs can easily wreck a home; having these drugs seized by the police sooner greatly lowers the risk. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
The Lockwood Family must be in chaos, unable to manage themselves now.
And Miles Lockwood, he couldn’t be saved.
This case wasn’t appropriate to probe more into, so she shifted topics, "I came today because I wanted to ask your help with something else."
Sebastian picked up the teacup, softly exhaled, blew away the tea steam, took a sip, nodded his head, signaling her to go ahead.
Monroe wetted her lips, carefully asked, "Umm... do you know how to get your hands on micro cameras?"
Sebastian slightly startled, his brows involuntarily furrowed, "What do you need this for?"
Monroe hesitated, opened her mouth but wasn’t sure how to speak.
His patience has always been good, and after her moments of hesitation, he said nothing, Monroe eventually revealed her plan.
The more she spoke, the tighter Sebastian’s brows furrowed.
A couple days ago during dinner, he faintly sensed something, hence wasn’t particularly shocked, but listening to her plan now, he still couldn’t stop the sinking feeling.
He coolly warned, "This is too risky for you..."
"I know, but you can’t catch a wolf without sacrificing the lamb." Monroe replied, "It’s the quickest, most direct chance to transfer shares to Caleb Sinclair,
Moreover... I don’t necessarily need to be injured severely; just that the "child" is gone is enough."
Actually, yesterday she contacted a private investigator, but the investigator was not in Imperial City, and mailing the items would take three days.
There wasn’t enough time.
Out of options, she had to come to Sebastian.
Though Sebastian is a lawyer, she was sure he could get the item.
Sebastian looked at her, the dim, unclear look filled with his disagreement about her plan.
Too dangerous.
Yet the words of persuasion circled at his lips, sinking back into his stomach.
It was her decision, he respected it.
The two silently gave each other time to think, around the time it took to drink a cup of tea, the silence in the office was broken by his voice again, "When do you need it?"
"By tomorrow at the latest."
Sebastian nodded, "Tomorrow afternoon, I’ll have Hannah Nash deliver it to you."
Monroe put down the teacup, stood up, "Alright, thank you. I’ll leave first, won’t disturb your work anymore."
Sebastian stayed silent, watching as she walked to the door, until the office door closed, he didn’t withdraw his gaze, his brows still tightly furrowed, his eyes betraying a hint of worry.
