Chapter 42: Chapter 33: Merit Points Credited (Part 2)

"Alright, everyone’s back."

Wu Shangfeng’s voice pulled everyone from their daze. "You have half an hour. Go to your dorms and change your clothes. Remember, only half an hour. Be back here in exactly thirty minutes. I’m going to review and summarize the battle we just had."

"Yes, sir!"

The students responded in unison, then hurried toward the dormitories.

Half an hour later, everyone had changed into clean training uniforms and returned to the Martial Arts Room.

Though their faces still showed a trace of exhaustion, their eyes now held a new fortitude and composure, forged in a trial of blood and fire.

Wu Shangfeng stood at the podium. Without any unnecessary words, he turned on the main screen and projected the recording of the recent battle onto it.

"First up, Chu Lan."

Wu Shangfeng froze the image at the moment Chu Lan commanded the students to form a circle. "Your on-the-spot command was decisive and correct. The instant the formation was broken, you initiated the most effective response, preventing greater casualties. For that, you deserve praise."

He then fast-forwarded the footage.

"However, you made a major error in your pre-battle reconnaissance and intelligence analysis. You only saw the Green-skinned kids, but you overlooked the crude war carts they had cobbled together with collective belief, as well as the larger, clearly leader-class green-skin. This led to flaws in our initial deployment. Remember, on the battlefield, any overlooked detail can become a death warrant for you and your teammates."

Chu Lan’s expression was one of humble acceptance, and he nodded solemnly.

"Next, Shi Potian."

The screen switched to a scene of Shi Potian lopping off three heads with a single slash. "Your personal martial prowess is impeccable. At the most critical moment, you used your strength to stabilize everyone’s morale. You are the sharpest blade in our class."

"But,"

Wu Shangfeng’s tone shifted. "Your fighting style is too focused on your own kills, and it lacks coordination with your teammates. There were several times you could have easily formed a pincer attack with the students next to you, eliminating the enemy at a much lower cost. Instead, you chose a more direct and stamina-draining method to secure the kill yourself. Remember, you are a member of a team, not a Lone Ranger."

Upon hearing this, Shi Potian’s brow furrowed slightly, but he ultimately nodded in acknowledgement.

Wu Shangfeng’s critiques were sharp and unsparing, clearly pointing out every strength and weakness the students had revealed in the Battle.

Finally, his gaze fell upon Qin Feng.

On the screen, footage of Qin Feng’s figure, moving like a Wandering Dragon on the battlefield, began to play on a loop.

"Qin Feng."

For the first time, a clear note of approval entered Wu Shangfeng’s voice.

"Your spear technique is very good."

He paused and zoomed in on the scene where Qin Feng used the tip of his spear to "hook" a Green-skinned kid to the ground, creating an opening for his teammate.

"The Thousand Army Spear emphasizes ’momentum.’ Not your personal power, but the overall ’flow’ of the entire battlefield. You understood clearly that with your current strength, you couldn’t achieve one-hit kills. So, you didn’t force it. Instead, you chose to use your skills to guide, disrupt, and create a ’flow’ that was advantageous to our side."

"For example, here,"

He pointed at the screen. "This thrust could have easily been aimed at its vitals, but you didn’t. You chose to attack its ankle. That single move not only saved your teammate, but it also disrupted the enemy’s attack rhythm, buying precious time for our entire defensive line to stabilize."

"And here, your defense..."

Wu Shangfeng repeatedly played the clip of Qin Feng fending off five enemies at once, his spear twirling in a blur to protect himself.

"Using the point to break the surface, using skill to deflect force. You have a very thorough understanding of the basic defensive Techniques of the >. But it’s not enough."

Wu Shangfeng drew several red trajectory lines on the light screen.

"Look. At this moment, if you had moved half a step to your left, your defensive circle would have protected not only yourself but also the student behind and to your left. And your spear’s momentum, if you had followed the horizontal sweep with an upward thrust, would have perfectly linked with Shi Potian’s attack, creating a seamless chain of killing blows."

"Remember, on the battlefield, there is no perfect Technique, only the most appropriate choice. With every move you make, you must consider how to maximize the benefit for the entire team."

Qin Feng listened with intense focus.

Every piece of advice from Wu Shangfeng was a sudden enlightenment, giving him a new, deeper understanding of the battle he had just fought.

As Wu Shangfeng continued his explanation, the once-hazy images of the battle in his mind began to grow sharp and three-dimensional.

It was as if he had returned to that battlefield of flying flesh and blood, re-examining his every thrust and every step from an observer’s perspective.

Amid this deep review and reflection, the panel in his consciousness began to flash wildly. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
