Grinding EXP From Fireball Skill-Chapter 71: Unlimited Shield Works
The creator of the Invisible Armor broke convention with revolutionary thinking.
Every Mage knows one thing: only one Magic Shield can exist at a time.
You can’t stack Magic Shields one on top of another like nesting dolls.
This has to do with the defensive principles of a Magic Shield.
A Magic Shield is a Force Field Shield, providing 360-degree coverage with no blind spots.
Only one defensive force field can exist; a larger field will simply override a smaller one.
Recasting the spell only refreshes the field, it doesn’t strengthen it.
Invisible Armor is different. Invisible Armor is a Molding Shield.
A typical Molding Shield concentrates energy in one direction, creating a Magic Shield that functions like a physical Shield.
The advantage is that its defense is concentrated, giving it higher Defense Power than a Force Field Shield of the same level.
The disadvantage is that it can only defend one direction.
The Invisibility Armor Spell transforms the Shield into Armor, achieving the effect of protecting the caster from all directions.
But this lowers its Defense Power.
Therefore, its creator chose to have it consume more Mana to increase its Defense Power.
This is why, despite being a Tier Zero Magic, the Invisibility Armor Spell’s Mana consumption is three times that of the Small Fireball Technique.
Since Invisible Armor is a Molding Shield, it possesses an advantage that Force Field Shields lack—the ability to stack Armor.
Theoretically, the number of Invisible Armor layers can be stacked infinitely, with no upper limit.
In practice... when Li Wei cast the Great Success Level Invisibility Armor Spell, he could only stack three layers before being unable to add more.
Ultimately, the Invisibility Armor Spell was constrained by the limitations of a Tier Zero Magic Model.
With three layers stacked, Li Wei’s feet were ten centimeters off the ground even when he was standing on it.
The outermost layer of Invisible Armor was already over two meters tall, which was the maximum size the Tier Zero Magic Model could sustain.
Li Wei extended his Spiritual Power to perceive the Invisible Armor around his body.
’There are still gaps between the layers of Invisible Armor, and the gaps are even wider than the Armor is thick. If I can narrow the gaps, I can stack more layers.’
Li Wei controlled the Invisible Armor, trying his best to narrow the gaps between each layer.
This wasn’t difficult for him; it was just a matter of to what extent he could do it.
After some effort, he increased the number of stacked layers to five.
’The gaps can be compressed, but can the thickness of the Invisible Armor itself be compressed too?’
Li Wei continued to experiment, using his Spiritual Power to compress the thickness of the Invisible Armor.
The limit: seven layers of Invisible Armor!
’This is my current limit, unless my Spiritual Power increases or my Mana Control is upgraded again.’
Wrapped in seven layers of Invisible Armor, Li Wei felt like he was wearing a thick, padded coat.
It was difficult to move.
After deactivating five layers of Invisible Armor, the feeling of restriction was greatly reduced, and he could move normally again.
’Under normal conditions, two layers of Invisible Armor won’t affect my movement. I’ll activate all of them in combat.’
Li Wei came to this conclusion after a few moments of testing.
He looked at his Shadow Attendant, which had already advanced to Tier One High Level.
’Next up is testing the Invisible Armor’s Defense Power!’
Li Wei equipped the Shadow Attendant with seven layers of Invisible Armor and had it stand at a distance, so he wouldn’t get caught in the blast.
Then, Charged Fireball Skill!
KA-BOOM!
The Shadow Attendant was sent flying into the sky, leaving a large crater where it had stood.
THUD!
The Shadow Attendant fell back down, completely unscathed, though five layers of Invisible Armor had shattered.
The Shadow Attendant wobbled to its feet, unsure of what had just happened.
A smile appeared on Li Wei’s face.
Seven layers of Invisible Armor were enough to withstand most Tier Two Spells.
He was already very satisfied that a Tier Zero Magic could display such astonishing power.
His effort and sweat had not been for nothing.
’If the Great Success Level Invisible Armor is this powerful, what changes will the Perfection Level bring?’
Li Wei grew even more expectant of this miraculous Magic.
’Where on earth did Orn get this Magic? And who was the creator of the Invisibility Armor Spell?’
Li Wei was extremely curious about this.
He now held a special admiration for the Magic’s creator.
"Shadow Attendant, come back."
The Shadow Attendant floated back.
With a thought from Li Wei, the room returned to its original state.
He left the room with his Shadow Attendant and entered the dreamscape of Cold Sand City, a place filled with smoke and flames.
This time, he didn’t use Invisibility, but walked openly on the streets.
The Shadow Attendant followed by his side, protecting him.
A Nightmare flew overhead, spotted Li Wei, and dove down, transforming into a Beastman as it charged him.
The Shadow Attendant shot forward to intercept it, tangling with the descending Nightmare.
The battle between Nightmares was a mutual devouring of each other’s Power.
The Shadow Attendant tore at the Nightmare Beastman’s body. As the shredded parts turned into gray mist and tried to fly back, the Shadow Attendant swallowed them in one gulp.
Stunned for a moment by the Shadow Attendant’s attack, the Nightmare Beastman paused before it finally reacted and counterattacked.
All of the Nightmare’s attacks were blocked by the Invisible Armor.
What should have been a contest of strength became a one-sided assault by the Shadow Attendant; the Nightmare was on the receiving end the entire time.
As Li Wei was watching the fight, a cold glint of light suddenly appeared behind him.
An incredibly sharp dagger stabbed out from the darkness, striking the center of Li Wei’s back.
CRACK!
The dagger pierced one layer of Invisible Armor but was stopped by the second.
Li Wei turned his head to see a Nightmare that had transformed into a Beastman Assassin emerge.
’Is this something I fear?’
Li Wei smiled and pointed a finger at the Nightmare Assassin behind him.
The Fire Element quickly formed a Fireball at his fingertip.
The Nightmare Assassin retreated. Its attack having failed, it wanted to escape.
WHOOSH!
A small fireball shot out before the Nightmare Assassin could retreat into the shadows.
Li Wei’s Casting speed was even faster than its retreat.
BANG!
The Fireball hit the Nightmare Assassin and exploded, the force of the blast knocking it back.
The Nightmare Assassin stumbled back several steps before regaining its footing.
After transforming into an Assassin, the Nightmare had also become a glass cannon with high attack and low defense.
The Small Fireball Technique had nearly blasted its form apart.
Taking advantage of the Nightmare Assassin’s broken retreat, Li Wei cast the Chain of Small Fireballs Skill.
WHOOSH! WHOOSH! WHOOSH!
Five small fireballs shot out in a row.
The Nightmare Assassin hastily dodged, avoiding one small fireball, but it couldn’t evade the second.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
Four small fireballs struck the Nightmare Assassin in succession, completely blasting its form into a cloud of gray mist and revealing its Nightmare Core.
WHOOSH!
The first small fireball, which had flown past its target, curved back around and struck the exposed Nightmare Core.
BANG!
The Nightmare Core was destroyed.
It turned into a stream of light and shot into Li Wei’s body.
Great Dream Traveling Skill proficiency +100.
He had easily dealt with a Tier One High Level Nightmare—and an Assassin-type enemy, the kind Mages feared most.
Li Wei glanced at his Shadow Attendant. Its opponent could no longer maintain its disguise and had revealed its true Nightmare form.
A few minutes later, the Shadow Attendant tore its opponent to pieces and devoured the exposed Nightmare Core.
’It took that long just to deal with a Tier One Middle Level Nightmare.’
Li Wei couldn’t help but shake his head as he watched. The Shadow Attendant’s strength was still too weak.
The main issue was its lack of offensive methods.
Relying purely on instinct to devour each other was just too inefficient in combat.
Being attacked by the Nightmare Assassin reminded Li Wei of the Half-Beastman Assassin girl he had encountered before.
’Speaking of which, it’s been so many days. Why haven’t the hidden Beastman Race Assassins in Cold Sand City made a move yet?’
To this day, Li Wei hadn’t heard any news of important figures being assassinated.
’Could it be that the Beastman Race Assassins have already been wiped out?’
Li Wei shook his head, casting aside the unnecessary thoughts.
’What does that have to do with me? As long as I’m not the one being assassinated, it’s fine.’
