Grinding EXP From Fireball Skill-Chapter 120: Intractable Stone Body
SHKT!
Lei An pulled his Knight’s Sword from the earth and wiped the mud from its blade.
He breathed a sigh of relief upon recovering his weapon.
He could lose his Armor, but not this weapon.
It was his prized possession.
’Having too tough a scalp isn’t always a good thing,’ Li Wei mused quietly, looking at Lei An’s bald head.
Lei An didn’t hear him clearly and turned his head. "What did you say?"
"Nothing. I said we should find a way out," Li Wei replied casually.
Lei An looked up at the completely transformed surroundings, a headache already forming.
"We’re screwed. There’s no way to find the exit," Lei An sighed.
"Let’s look around first. Where was the path you took to get in?" Li Wei asked.
Lei An thought for a moment, then pointed to the left. "It should be over there."
"Let’s go have a look."
The two of them headed to the left.
The cavern had collapsed, and precarious rocks teetered everywhere.
Lei An volunteered to take the lead and clear a path.
"I’m a Knight with very high Defense Power. It’s more suitable for me to lead the way."
"Yeah, I can see that."
Li Wei looked at his large, bald head. "Aren’t you going to look for your helmet?"
Lei An glanced back at him. "I don’t have a helmet."
"Huh?" Li Wei looked puzzled.
Lei An grinned. "My Extraordinary Trait gives my body super-strong Defense Power."
"Ever heard of Intractable Stone Body? It’s super strong!"
"This suit of Armor is just for show. When it comes to a real fight, I have to rely on myself."
Li Wei shook his head. "Never heard of it. I have heard of ’stubbornly ignorant,’ though."
"Huh? What’s that mean?" Lei An had never heard that idiom.
Li Wei said, "It basically means being very stubborn."
Lei An laughed. "Well, that sounds a bit like my Extraordinary Trait."
Li Wei asked, "Do you know Reina?"
Lei An nodded. "I do, of course I do. Reina is the most talented student in the history of the Knight Academy."
"I was even her teacher for a while. After she became Great Knight Orn’s apprentice, we didn’t see each other much."
Li Wei looked surprised. "You’re a teacher at the Knight Academy?"
"Well, not exactly. I should be called an instructor now."
"The Knight Academy started implementing military-style administration this year, so all the teachers are called instructors now," Lei An said.
Li Wei asked curiously, "So, between you and Reina, who has stronger Defense Power?"
Without a second thought, Lei An answered directly, "Absolute Defense is stronger, of course!"
"The Absolute Defense Extraordinary Trait is one of the strongest Knight Talents."
"You can’t see it now, but wait until Reina becomes a Great Knight. After her Absolute Defense transforms and reveals its full power, you’ll know what ’absolute defense’ truly means."
"It’s a defense rumored to be strong enough to withstand even a Forbidden Curse."
"Even at its current stage, Absolute Defense is a bit stronger than my Intractable Stone Body."
"Absolute Defense can strengthen any defense, both on one’s own body and on external objects."
"Unlike me—I can only strengthen my body’s defense, not the Defense Power of external objects."
"That’s a drawback, but also an advantage."
Lei An smiled and said, "The good thing is, my Extraordinary Trait is one of the Passive Skills; it’s active at all times."
"Absolute Defense, on the other hand, consumes Power. Once her Power runs out, no matter how strong the Absolute Defense Extraordinary Trait is, all she can do is stare helplessly as it fails to work."
Li Wei understood.
"Did you see Reina’s fight with the Ant King?" Lei An asked.
Li Wei replied, "I saw it." 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
Lei An said, "She could use Absolute Defense to stand her ground and completely block the Ant King’s charge."
"While I could also block the Ant King’s charge, I would definitely be sent flying."
Li Wei understood again.
Lei An had explained it very clearly. If Li Wei still didn’t get it, he’d have to start questioning his own intelligence.
Li Wei didn’t press the matter of whose Defense Power was stronger.
He changed the subject. "What about that piece of Secret Silver Ore you guys found earlier?"
Lei An shook his head. "No idea. The whole cavern collapsed. Who knows where it’s buried?"
"I think there’s someone up ahead."
Li Wei looked ahead but couldn’t see clearly.
Lei An’s eyesight was much better than his, allowing him to see farther.
After walking a dozen more steps, Li Wei could finally make out a blurry figure.
"Mage Wilder!"
Lei An shouted with pleasant surprise.
He never expected to find him under these circumstances.
Wilder was trapped beneath two massive boulders, with only a narrow opening he couldn’t get through.
Hearing the voice, Wilder turned to look.
Seeing Lei An, his face lit up, and he quickly shouted, "Knight Lei An, quick, help me move these rocks! I can’t get out."
He could have blasted the obstructing rocks away with Magic.
But the earlier mine collapse had scared him, and he didn’t dare use powerful Magic while underground.
He was still hesitating over which Magic to use when he saw Lei An and Li Wei.
Lei An walked up to the boulders, stuck his Longsword in the ground, and gripped a rock with both hands, trying to move it.
He found the rock wouldn’t budge an inch.
"This is tough. These two rocks are too heavy. I can’t move them."
Lei An looked at Wilder and said helplessly.
Wilder’s face fell.
"What do we do?"
He looked at Li Wei, who was dressed in a black robe, and asked, "Who is he?"
"Mage Wilder, hello. I’m Timo, a Summoner," Li Wei introduced himself.
He could sense that his Shadow Attendant had arrived nearby.
’After all this time, the Shadow Attendant is finally free.’
"A Summoner?" Wilder glanced at Li Wei and shook his head.
"It would be better if you were a Warrior."
Knights specialize in defense and endurance.
Warriors specialize in burst damage and Power.
With different Extraordinary Traits, the difference in strength between a Warrior and a Knight of the same level could be several-fold.
Hearing this, Li Wei just smiled. "I may not be a Warrior, but my Summoned Beast is quite strong."
Wilder looked up at him, a surprised expression on his face.
SHH SHH SHH!
A digging sound came from the dirt and rocks nearby.
Lei An instinctively grew wary, drew his Longsword, and stood in front of Li Wei.
BANG!
The Golden Anteater burst out of the earth.
Its once-gleaming metal Scales were now covered in mud, making it look old and battered.
Lei An asked in a deep voice, "Is this your Summoned Beast?"
"Yes."
"Step aside. I’ll have my Summoned Beast clear the way," Li Wei said.
Li Wei and Lei An moved away from the rocks.
Wilder also retreated as far back as he could to avoid being accidentally injured.
The Golden Anteater swung its sharp claws, digging away the rocks on both sides.
KRAK KRAK KRAK!
Sparks flew, and in no time, it had dug out a passable path.
The Golden Anteater backed away.
Lei An poked his head through. "Mage Wilder, you can come out now."
"No rush. Since your Summoned Beast can dig, have it come in here and clear a path."
"I just saw a large piece of Secret Silver Ore fall down."
Now that he could get out, Wilder was suddenly in no hurry.
He demanded that Li Wei command his Summoned Beast to dig for the Secret Silver Ore.
Li Wei followed Wilder’s finger and looked.
Behind Wilder was a crack as wide as a palm. At the end of the crack, there was a deep, silvery gleam.
